Chapter 1424 768: Next Target (2)

Chapter 1424 768: Next Target (2)

Driving the pre-prepared car, Jimmy quickly arrived at Lester's safe house, located in a large residential area in the eastern suburbs of Los Angeles. Of course, it wasn't a wealthy district. The advantage for Jimmy was that there were fewer police and such, but the downside was that the GPS coordinates pointed to a location with three houses around it, and he hadn't pinpointed which one it was yet.

Jimmy had no choice but to wear a hood, sunglasses, and a black mask, don gloves, and disguise himself as a Black man. At least from the outside, his skin wouldn't be visible, and even if someone saw his silhouette from a distance, they'd definitely mistake it.

He approached a house from the side, noticing two people in the living room watching TV, while another was in a room staring at a computer monitor.

Jimmy crouched below the window, sneaked a peek, and saw that the man and woman in the living room were total strangers. Moving to the side, the person playing on the computer was also a young man he'd never seen before, suggesting this was just an ordinary family.

Unlucky, Jimmy moved to the second house and checked similarly, but couldn't clearly see another person inside through the window.

Reluctantly, Jimmy attempted to climb onto the house. There was a skylight on top, through which he might get a frontal view, but just as he grabbed the eaves to climb up, someone across the street suddenly shouted: "Who's there?" and the outside lights flicked on.

FK, Jimmy cursed, immediately jumping off the house, sprinted along the street a short distance, then turned onto a side road, circled back to his car, and drove away.

Jimmy slapped the steering wheel, confident that no one had seen his face. It was obvious he'd underestimated neighborhood watchfulness; he hadn't expected someone across the street to yell at the sight of him on the roof. Previously, many he'd encountered wouldn't have said anything, since minding one's own business is the norm.

Lester was in the third house. They hadn't been expecting Jimmy, but the commotion outside naturally alerted them.

Lester sent a bodyguard outside to investigate, who then woke another person to keep watch, and went outside to gather information. When he learned that someone had climbed onto the roof with people inside, he realized something was off and quickly reported back to Lester.

Lester pounded the table with a fist, sure that someone was after him, but they didn't know his exact location, just a rough idea, hence trying to identify people inside by rooftop peeking. Had the neighbor not noticed, the intruder might have reached his house already.

Lester massaged his sore hand from the table's rebound, and the two bodyguards were also surprised, awaiting Lester's instructions.

Lester: "It's not safe here anymore; we're leaving immediately, now."

Bodyguard: "The intruder already ran. Could he be waiting for us outside?"

Lester: "We can't worry about that. We've been noticed; they'll definitely call the police. While it's chaotic, we have a chance to escape."

The bodyguards didn't make decisions; since Lester decided, quickly packing and leaving was the right move.

The two bodyguards packed up, and Lester also tidied up his belongings, and the three of them got into a black SUV and left the neighborhood.

Lester was almost certain someone was after him, confirming suspicions that Madam Harriton was targeting him. Biting his teeth, he sat in the back seat, watching the scenery fly by through the window.

He'd never considered making Madam Harriton disappear; avoiding her was just to prevent unforeseen issues. Clearly, he'd underestimated her; if she could take out Pete, she could easily handle him too. Waiting passively is never a good idea; should Madam Harriton's people confirm his location, he might not even have the chance to fight back.

Lester was a businessman. Even if he'd done many illegal things, they were through business means; he had no underworld connections. Even if he wanted to hire someone, he wouldn't know how.

After pondering for a while, nearing another safe house, Lester spoke to the front bodyguard: "Benjamin, do you have any channels if I need to find someone for a job?"

The bodyguard in the passenger seat turned to Lester: "What kind of job?"

Lester: "I want to fight back."

Bodyguard Benjamin exchanged glances with the driving bodyguard, then turned to Lester: "You know we're from a security company, not assassins."

Lester grabbed the bag beside him, took out some money, and waved it in front of Benjamin: "You've been with me for years. Trust me; I won't let you work for nothing. Help me find someone reliable."

Benjamin looked at the money Lester placed before him, hesitated momentarily, then reached out to take it. He looked at the driver: "Take me to the Knight Club first."

The driver turned to Benjamin: "Now? The boss might still be in danger."

Benjamin: "We just left the previous safe house and haven't reached our destination. Even if they're tailing us, it can't be that fast."

The driver nodded, "OK, be careful." At the upcoming intersection, he u-turned to change the destination, quickly arriving in front of a five-story building. Benjamin glanced at Lester, nodded to him, and got out of the car.

The driver immediately started the vehicle towards the safe house. As for Benjamin, he would catch up later.

Driving non-stop, Jimmy reached the southern region, never revealing his face, even inside the car. Once in the southern area, he was safe, as there were few surveillance cameras. Importantly, he could procure some supplies here, replenishing his inventory.

The thugs in South District were unlucky; for Jimmy, who temporarily abandoned agent duties just to purchase supplies, these people were like mobile storage boxes. After robbing two small-time thugs, he hit a secret casino spot spotted using Heart Eye Vision, grabbed some stuff, then quickly left.

He didn't kill anyone, just shot and injured a few. These people hadn't reached the Sin Level for him to slaughter them, so there was no need for heavy-handedness.

After clearing everything, Jimmy returned to his hotel room, called for some food delivery to establish a perfect alibi, and wasn't worried about being traced afterward.

After tipping, Jimmy placed the plate on the table, eating while reviewing his night's actions. Although he hadn't reached Lester's house, the GPS confirmed Lester was there, and the people around were alarmed, meaning Lester must have received news, almost certainly making him jittery. If he moved, checking tomorrow would confirm his next location. If he's still at the same place, that would be reckless of him.

As for himself, after reviewing everything, Jimmy was sure he hadn't left any significant trace. The only traceable thing was the car, but for safety, he'd removed the license plate shortly after leaving the parking lot. By the time he reached the South District, others couldn't continue tracing the car, as it wasn't a conspicuously painted vehicle.

Regarding the robbery, for someone as careful as him, no problem was foreseen. They definitely wouldn't call the police for a detailed site investigation; it's a gang spot, reporting it would just trouble themselves.

After sorting everything out, Jimmy finished his late-night snack, washed up, turned on the TV, and relaxed with a beer, feeling no pressure at all.
