Chapter 1373 743: Restless People
Now everything is clear, and the people involved are also acquaintances of ours, so the arrangement for Mark and Julia will also be much better, and it shouldn't happen that they are targeted after changing team leaders.
Having received the news a few days ago, Jimmy has also planned his days ahead. The Support Team, based on his years of experience, summons a maximum of two to three times a year, the warning lights above the Homicide Team basically never light up, so if he stays in the office, he is bound to be quite bored.
What can be done when bored? Of course, first, make up for his shortcomings, especially his educational background. Thanks to Kevin's help, he can obtain a master's degree through sponsorship and the bureau's policy, which is basically sufficient for a career. With enough time, naturally, he needs to make up for the courses.
Previously, due to the extended travel time for case handling, he was clearly unable to catch up on semester exams. For someone like him with a special profession, many things are well explained, and now that he has time, he might as well catch up on studies and makeup exams, it'd be even better if he can complete credits in advance.
Next is his and Nia's plan to have a child; of course, to implement this plan, he needs to work hard, and correspondingly, he needs to do a lot of exercises. Just right to take advantage of this time to get some training.
Finally, for future consideration, he plans to get involved in some trouble at Quantico Academy. Being able to train more students is a good thing, just like this time when they went to the Salt Lake City office, it's much more convenient when there are people who know him than following the process step by step; even if they're all newcomers and trainees, numbers do make things easier.
Apart from his own things, his pathetic adopted son Elliot hasn't received training for a few months; time should also be devoted to that, as after all, he's an adopted son, not a stranger. Jimmy has promised to accompany him for gun practice on weekends but he has delayed it for quite some time.
Maybe he could take this downtime to wander around; after all, Ruiz has relayed some people's opinions that they need him to settle down. Simply taking the opportunity to travel might meet their requirements, though, he wonders if such thinking might make Ruiz explode with anger, as no one surely wants their subordinates to be so free and careless.
However, plans are just plans and whether they can be realized still needs observation; at least for now, he needs to stay in the office for a while to show his presence.
Soon, Agent Ray Hope arrived at the Manhattan office, Jimmy met him at the elevator and first showed him the process, After meeting with the administrative department and Ruiz, he directly brought him to the Homicide Team office, "Mark, Julia, this is Agent Ray Hope, who was previously at the Dallas office, and will be taking over my position. Ray, Mark Anderson, Julia Lee."
Of course, Jimmy had to introduce them, Ray got acquainted with them and then the four of them sat on the sofa and chatted for a while. Jimmy stood up and said, "Alright, Ray, I'll leave these two to you, all the best."
Jimmy and Ray shook hands and left the office, returning to his private office.
Unlike other offices, Jimmy's office door is a wooden door, and there's no window on it. On the wall beside, there's a sign "Emergency Support," with Jimmy Yang's name below, which makes this an exclusive office.
The office space is not small, as it was a small warehouse before, about twenty square meters in size. Although there's no window around, the central air conditioning outlets and ventilation are okay. It's slightly oppressive but sufficiently secluded.
Tim Dunn is also an old acquaintance of Jimmy and knows some insider stuff, so now that Jimmy's unreasonable office request was granted, he simply went a bit overboard. Aside from a desk, office chair, and a bookshelf, two single-person small sofas and a coffee table were also provided; just right so Jimmy could place his tea utensils. Apart from not being as large as the previous Homicide Team office, there's basically no difference.
Jimmy sat on the chair, opened his computer, browsed through new messages, checked emails, ensured there was nothing to attend to, and simply took some tea leaves from the bookshelf over to the sofa to brew tea for a rest.
At the evening's welcome banquet, Jimmy especially pulled in Ruiz; although Ray is an outsider, Lambert's face is always to be given. Since he specially called Jimmy, Jimmy also had to give enough face, although he couldn't introduce Ray to Dave, Ruiz was necessary.
Lambert is the agent supervisor and branch office manager, whereas Dave is New York's office manager, one level higher than Lambert. As mentioned earlier, the New York office is one of the three premium branches.
With hosts and guests enjoying themselves, Jimmy is also relieved. With Ruiz watching over, help from Mark and Julia who are already fully familiar with the Homicide Team and New York, if Ray can't manage to hold his ground, then it's not Jimmy's lack of support, but his capability issue. It's pointless for Lambert to train such a person.
Jimmy finally started his nine-to-five work life, with absolutely no overtime, except that he had to stay in the office building, he was completely free otherwise.
Initially it was alright; after more than half a month, he was bored enough to wander about. Those he knew but seldom interacted with before became his targets for harassment, and soon everyone knew there was a man so idle that it was unbearable in the bureau.
