Kevin clinked glasses with Jimmy, took a sip, and picked up a cigar, cutting off the end: "It will be busy. The vacation I originally planned for this holiday has already been completely canceled. Tell me, since you specifically had me come home early, there must be something up."

Jimmy nodded: "I've been thinking lately about something we discussed earlier. Is it possible to put it on the schedule now, about Nia's job."

Kevin raised his eyebrows: "Didn't you say you would wait until she was pregnant to transfer to an administrative position?"

Jimmy: "Yeah, but recently, I've been on business trips. When I got back, I only found out about a case she handled a month ago where a shootout took place. She almost got hit again. If it weren't for colleagues helping, maybe... the consequences would have been unimaginable."

Kevin nodded. Of course, he knew about Nia's near miss that time. Many people in the police department knew about Nia being his daughter, and there were people willing to notify him. "Did you talk to her?"

Jimmy shook his head: "I haven't talked yet. I just wanted to hear your opinion first."

Kevin: "No need to consider my thoughts. As long as you two have talked things through, it can be easily resolved on my end. As for the position, it can be adjusted anytime. I'll communicate with others ahead of time."

Jimmy: "Alright, I'll chat with Nia about this problem later."

Kevin: "Is it just this problem?"

Jimmy: "Huh? Of course, I can handle other things. Trust me, if I need help, I'll definitely say so."

Kevin: "Okay, tell me, what happened during your two months away?"

In fact, Jimmy's idea of wanting Nia to leave her detective position came after he returned from his business trip. Nia didn't say anything, but Jimmy still learned some things from others. Jimmy has strong abilities himself, and he doesn't mind these dangers, but Nia is his wife after all, and encountering such dangers makes him a bit worried. So, during his trip, he quietly chatted with Kevin and arranged to meet up on Christmas to discuss.

He drank quite a bit, and this time Nia acted as the driver, taking him home. However, today is Christmas Eve, obviously not the right time to discuss this issue.

Jimmy: "Ruiz told me to go back to work after New Year's and they'll announce my new position. There are only a few days left, and it's still not decided?"

Mahong: "Yes, I think unless there's direct communication with the higher-ups, it's hard to determine who will take over the Homicide Team. Also, I've secretly checked OPR, and it's basically confirmed they don't have any investigation actions against you, otherwise it'd be less quiet."

Jimmy nodded and picked up his coffee cup: "Thanks."

Jimmy: "Besides these, have there been any other changes in the office recently?"

Mahong: "Yes, but it should have little to do with you. They've conducted a personnel transfer round with the headquarters and other offices. Several management personnel have left the office, and new exchange personnel will come after the holidays, but most of these are administrative management level changes, not much change in fieldwork supervision."

Jimmy raised an eyebrow, such a sudden and large-scale personnel change looks far from normal rotation. "Was there any news leaked before this personnel transfer?"
