Chapter 1354 - 733: Blocked at the Door (2)
Seeing Jimmy and his group park, a man in a flower shirt got out of the car in front. He had slightly curly brown hair and didn't look very old, probably in his thirties.
He opened his hands as he approached Jimmy's car, "Oh, my friend, sorry for meeting you so late."
He stopped in front of Jimmy's car. Jimmy glanced at Javier, who looked equally puzzled and shook his head: "I don't know him."
Jimmy glanced at Alejandro and the others, who didn't get out of the car either. He looked at the man in front, pointed at himself with his left hand, and the man nodded with a smile. Jimmy opened the car door and got out, not putting away the Glock in his right hand.
The man laughed and said, "Relax, my friend, no need for hostility. Look, if we planned on doing something, it wouldn't be here."
Jimmy stared at him for a few seconds, smiled, and put the Glock back in its holster, "So, who are you?"
The man gestured with his right hand to the side: "That's right, shall we talk on the side?"
Jimmy and the man stood by the roadside. The man took out a white cigarette box, indicated it, Jimmy waved it off, and he lit a cigarette himself before speaking: "I'm Ghost, just a small figure in the Sinoloa Group responsible for business in Juarez. The Butcher, right?"
Jimmy shrugged: "Seems you all did your research well."
Ghost: "A little, just to avoid any misunderstandings. You're about to leave Juarez, and I figured if I don't get it clear now, there might not be a chance later."
Indeed, they knew when he was leaving, knew the location, blocked the road based on his departure time, and didn't alarm the previous convoy. These people had investigated very thoroughly.
Jimmy: "Oh? What do you want to know?"
Ghost: "I want to know the reason, about Victoria and Escobar."
Jimmy: "What do they have to do with you?"
Ghost: "Friends, partners, whatever you want to think, the connection is about that much. But your action this time did cost us quite a bit, though they aren't exactly indispensable people, I still hope we can have a good conversation. Now, can I know the reason?"
Jimmy: "So you all..."
He drew a circle in the air with his right index finger, indicating the few people visible on the roadside rooftops. Previously, Jimmy knew there were people around but they didn't seem hostile, so he didn't pay attention. Now, in this situation, it's too obvious—these people were his backup.
Ghost shrugged: "It's just a security measure, don't mind, we'll leave once we're done talking."
Jimmy: "I think you should know these people can't stop me."
Ghost: "Yes, so they aren't for you, but for them." He nodded toward the convoy with his chin.
This is a ruthless person, Jimmy realized. He didn't go to the hospital to find him but intercepted him on the road, intending to use Javier, Alejandro, and an SRT team as leverage. On the surface, he was still the FBI, unable to act like an assassin in public without restraint, and he had calculated this point well by appearing in front of him.
Jimmy laughed, the left corner of his mouth lifted, "You've prepared thoroughly, alright, you win. Victoria kidnapped one of our undercover agents, transferred them from New York to Juarez. I guess I don't need to say more?"
The smile vanished from Ghost's face as he cursed in his heart, is Victoria out of her mind? Bringing an undercover agent from New York to Juarez—too long-lived? Captured suspicious individuals should have been sunk at sea long ago, why bring them back?
Ghost's expression changed, but he smiled again, "OK, a very reasonable reason. So, what about Carlos Escobar?"
Jimmy: "Kidnapping, confinement, abuse, rape, trafficking—all these words are followed by teenage girls, underage girls. Do you understand what those words mean? Are you sure you want to avenge him?"
Ghost's eyes widened, entirely unexpected. He initially thought it was due to Carlos organizing gangs or drug trafficking, but the reason turns out to be this? Many gangs do such things, but they've never provoked a butcher like this.
Ghost frowned and asked: "Evidence?"
Jimmy: "The US Consulate should have received six underage girls last night. I think you should be able to find out."
Ghost took two deep breaths, this wasn't what he anticipated at all. He thought Jimmy was targeting the Sinoloa Group, which is why he urgently gathered so many people and arranged for this meeting. Unexpectedly, both individuals sought their own demise, having no relation to them.
Involving the DEA in investigating Victoria is normal, given her involvement in drug trafficking and smuggling falls under the DEA's purview, so he wasn't surprised. The only mystery was why the FBI got involved, but with their purpose clear, everything became understandable. There was no need to act against them, peaceful coexistence would suffice—after all, the FBI wouldn't come to Mexico to trouble them.
Ghost: "I understand, thank you."
Ghost reached to shake hands with Jimmy, who didn't extend his hand. Instead, Jimmy asked, "I've answered your questions, now answer me, how did you know it was me?"
Ghost slowly withdrew his hand. Jimmy remained with a smile on his face. Though wearing sunglasses blocked his gaze, Ghost felt uneasy, as if watched by some monster. He clearly knew Jimmy's capabilities; if something really happened, maybe others would avenge him, but he himself would surely die.
Ghost didn't speak, and Jimmy didn't wait long, "How much do you know? Who leaked the information? To gather so much information so quickly, tell me the mole, or I can't guarantee I won't come looking for you one night."
Ghost continued his silence. Jimmy further pressured him, "Who gave you the courage to think that just five people on the surrounding rooftops could threaten me? Hmm? You really consider yourself a big shot? Tell me, or die!"
Jimmy's final warning raised his voice. He did nothing, and Ghost directly took a step back, unable to maintain his expression.
There were indeed five people on the surrounding rooftops, but they should have been hiding well. Jimmy hadn't observed closely. How did he know the exact number of those people? Without an earpiece, no one could tip him off, this level of alertness was terrifying.
Ghost saw how cooperative Jimmy was with answering his questions earlier and genuinely believed he was being coerced by reality, only now realizing the chilling fear surging up from his core, the threat of death. He immediately raised both hands to indicate safety, "Don't misunderstand, we received information about you as soon as you arrived here, your reputation spread throughout New York, and with such events, we naturally thought of you."
Jimmy quietly said: "It's impossible for you all to get the information so quickly. I believe I didn't leave any evidence on site. Now, tell me, who's the mole? A suggestion: Don't make yourself my target."
Ghost remained silent for a few seconds, then bowed slightly, apologizing softly to Jimmy: "That's my fault, I'm sorry." Then, looking at Jimmy with determination, he said, "Some rules can't be broken, I can't tell you the source of the information."
Jimmy nodded at Ghost, "Rules, so, can you now clear the road? We're running short on the agreed time."
Ghost stepped aside, "Of course, be my guest."
Jimmy kept his right hand near the Glock, walked back to the car, and opened the door with his left hand, sat inside, started the car, and indicated with hazard lights. The two cars blocking the road in front moved aside, clearing the road. Jimmy and his team passed smoothly, heading towards the border checkpoint.
Ghost didn't linger either; he waved to the people on the rooftops, returned to his own car, and drove away, restoring traffic on the road once more.
This is Juarez, where in certain aspects gangs have replaced some government institutions' management capability. Even blocking roads didn't bring the police to expel them, or rather, their road-blocking behavior might have the help of police insiders, and ordinary people didn't even have the right to protest.
