Chapter 1332 - 723: Preparing for the Rescue (2)

Chapter 1332 - 723: Preparing for the Rescue (2)

As for the club's backers, we really can't dig them out. The club managers just won't spill, so there's nothing we can do. However, Carlos from Juarez is definitely involved; he's the supplier on this side, that's already confirmed.

Jimmy told Hope that there's a case to handle at the New York office, so he might have to leave Albuquerque for a few days. Then he left him there to continue the investigation.

As a tool guy, Hope's opinion doesn't really matter. As soon as this case wraps up, he'll have to head back to headquarters. Peter has already been informed that their investigation is seriously deviating from the agent murder and kidnapping cases in Washington, D.C., unless they get new concrete leads, this case is about to be closed.

In this situation, Jimmy has to go and deal with the case at the New York office. Of course, he doesn't have any objections since the Albuquerque office has already isolated him from the investigation.

Javier and his team arrived quickly, but when Jimmy saw the three of them, he was a bit surprised. The two DEA agents looked entirely Latino, and Javier seemed that way too, though he wasn't sure, as there are plenty of Caucasians with brown-black hair.

Javier introduced the two of them to Jimmy, Alejandro Gomez and Carlos Rodriguez. They shook hands with Jimmy and greeted him. Then Javier hung up a map in the conference room, "This is the location our informant provided of the Steel Dragon's base. This place isn't in Juarez city center, but in the southeastern industrial area. Back in the '90s, many factories rose here, but later, for various reasons, many companies relocated, leaving some factories abandoned."

We haven't gotten the location of Seventeen yet, but the informant provided a lead. This factory used to be just a small outpost with a few guys there, but recently, around a dozen people moved in, and security has been significantly beefed up.

We originally planned to use a drone for reconnaissance, but unfortunately, it was spotted. The drone was shot down."

Jimmy: "So, we only have a possible location now, right?"

Javier nodded, "This lead was also provided by a DEA informant over there, and it almost exposed his identity. It's already quite valuable."

Jimmy nodded, "What about Victoria?"

Javier took out another map, this one of Juarez city. He circled an area with a pen: "We can only confirm she's in this neighborhood, but the exact location is unclear. These traffickers' locations are highly confidential to prevent opponent or government decapitation tactics."

Jimmy glanced at the position on the map, a bit frustrated. He pointed to the circle Javier drew, "Then there's nothing we can do. We can't just search for her openly here. So, our target this time is just rescuing people."

DEA agent Alejandro Gomez said, "No, our main target is still Victoria. She's a key figure who can connect us to the Sinaloa Group's top people, which is crucial for our next steps."

Jimmy looked at Javier, then said to Alejandro, "How long do you need to locate her?"

Alejandro shook his head, "We can't be sure for now. We've got other people continuing the investigation in Juarez."

Jimmy: "But our agent has been captured by them for a while now, and we don't know if they're alive or dead. We can't wait much longer for news."

Although Ruiz didn't insist on immediate action, Jimmy didn't want to wait too long for the DEA's feedback. Who knows how long it would take for them to investigate thoroughly? They have no hostages at risk of being captured or killed.

Alejandro: "Two days. If there's no news in two days, we'll start the rescue operation."

Jimmy looked at Javier: "Two days, is that enough to prepare the action plan?"

Javier looked at Jimmy in surprise: "You're in charge of this rescue operation, that's Director Ruiz's arrangement."

Jimmy: "OK, so how do we get there? What about the weapons and equipment we need?"

Javier looked at Alejandro: "The DEA will prep everything for us. Just provide your equipment list."

Jimmy: "Including passage to and from Mexico?"

Alejandro: "Including passage to and from. We've been collaborating with the Mexican government on joint operations against drug traffickers for nearly two years."

Jimmy: "OK, let's wait two days then, thank you for your hard work."

Javier started packing up his things, and just then, Jimmy's phone rang. He glanced at it and answered, "Steven, what's up?"

Steven: "We've got some new intel over here about Carlos, want to come over and take a look?"

Jimmy: "Now? How about this afternoon? I'm a bit tied up right now."

Steven: "See you this afternoon."

Jimmy hung up the phone and was about to put it back in his pocket when he suddenly remembered something. He looked at Alejandro, "Agent Gomez, are you related to Steven Gomez from the Albuquerque office?"

Alejandro looked surprised at Jimmy: "Of course I know him, he's my brother. Our fathers are brothers. Do you know Steven? Was that him on the phone just now..."

Jimmy: "Yeah, it was him. I'm visiting the DEA office this afternoon, care to join?"

Alejandro: "I'm heading there now, still have some records to go through."

Jimmy: "OK, see you this afternoon."

-----------------

Jimmy talked with Javier about recent events in New York. Nothing major has happened, and Jimmy's two subordinates were working as usual, so there wasn't much to worry about.

In the afternoon, Steven was waiting for Jimmy downstairs. They didn't go up; instead, they went outside for a smoke and chat, "Was it you?"

Jimmy: "What?"

Steven: "There was a multi-death incident last night, but it was silenced, no police were called."

Jimmy: "No, I wasn't ready. Who did it?"

Steven furrowed his brow; since Jimmy said he wasn't ready, it wasn't him. Otherwise, there's no reason to deny it, as Jimmy led the whole thing from the start. He shook his head: "Not sure, three outsiders were shot and killed at the scene."

Jimmy: "Find a way to get the intel, ask what's going on."

Steven: "Yeah, but it'll take some time and money."

Jimmy: "Do it. By the way, I met your brother today."

Steven exhaled smoke: "Yeah, he contacted me but didn't say much. He'll be over this afternoon too, so we'll know why he's here then."

Jimmy: "It's a joint case. One of our undercover agents was captured. We're working with your DEA HQ to coordinate getting them out of Mexico. It's complicated."

Steven stubbed out his cigarette and tossed it into a trash can, "Let's go, there's some updated intel on Carlos I need to share."

Carlos was the drug dealer Jimmy and his team had previously suspected. Technician Wendy said the girls were brought by Carlos's men, so there's a connection. The underworld's whispered information can sometimes be more comprehensive and reliable than official sources.

Soon, they got the latest news. Carlos's influence in Juarez has further expanded. Just days ago, his group swallowed another gang, expanding into two more blocks, with rampant gunfire and blood everywhere, but no bodies. So, the police haven't intervened, just recorded the info, but the underworld grapevine already has news about the change in block bosses.

In Juarez, if you're in the underworld, staying informed is crucial. You never know if you've unknowingly offended someone you shouldn't. Therefore, the DEA's informants promptly relay information out.
