New World with Four Husbands

Chapter 412: Alhai’s unexpected action

Chapter 412: Alhai’s unexpected action

The book bounced on the floor, its presence momentarily forgotten as Alhai continued on Coco’s lips.

The mediator had ignored all instances that he felt strange in Coco’s presence because he didn’t want to admit that he was starting to grow fond of someone who inhabited his abuser’s body.

The moment Coco told them that she wasn’t the Coco Hughes they knew, he had his fair share of doubts.

He had fought with Zaque because the first husband had started to hangout with the one who had hurt them, pushed them, dragged them around, and treated them like mere slaves.

He had fought with Heiren because the second husband had started thinking about making Coco a meal on their table and letting her eat with them.

He had fought with Quizen, his best friend, because he had started to talk about the woman who caused them pain whenever he got the chance, but of course, Quizen would stop because Alhai would stop him.

However, that didn’t mean he had not seen the three mediators act differently whenever Coco’s around.

He was hurt when Coco announced that Quizen will be going with her and Zaque to the main city, his mind immediately jumping to the conclusion that he would slowly become alone.

Despite all the odds, Coco still included him and told him to pack his things because he will come, too.

Not only that, she had let him continue to treat her like she was their abuser— cussing her out, mocking her, grinding her gears, and trying to make her mad, but no, she was too patient.

She was too calm, too composed, too.. Understanding to become mad at him.

She looks at him like he was someone fragile— that if she did something to him, he would break and that alone made him start to feel differently towards her.

Ever since they arrived in the main city, she had started to act more friendly towards them compared to when they were staying in Yogusho Village, she even showed a lot of her good and bad sides to them.

Of course, the bad sides weren’t really bad sides.

Alhai learned that she tends to lock everyone out and isolate herself in her room to deal with her own emotions.

The night when he found her tearing up in the hallway.. That was the moment he realized that she was just another human being that doesn’t know how to deal with everything.

Since that night, he has started observing her whenever she’s near him.

He noticed that whenever she comes home, she would make her way inside the kitchen to check what was served on the table and if she didn’t, she wouldn’t comment and would ask Heiren about his day instead.

However, if she saw food on the table, she would start bouncing around and try to help.

She would give money to Zaque every monday after breakfast and would tell him to split the amount evenly, then she would leave to do whatever.

He doesn’t even know how Coco earns money on the last few days because she stayed in the house and would spend her day idling around on the back of the house, just walking around and doing nothing.

He would watch her through the window of his bedroom and observe the way she would smile at the fairy.

There were times in a day that she would sit down on the grass and just stare in the distance, just lounging and doing nothing, but relax.

Due to this, Zaque had woken up in the middle of the night and asked the other husbands to help him clean the small gazebo at the back of the house so Coco wouldn’t have to sit on the grass anymore.

Of course, there were some complaints here and there, but all of them went along.

Alhai grew quiet, but became observant because of this— ever since his last encounter with Coco on the hallway, and whatever twisted inside him that night.. Had its hold tight around his neck.

He couldn’t bring himself to open his mouth and shoot a mocking remark on Coco’s way anymore.

He couldn’t glare at her and tell her that she was nothing, but an abuser for his eyes because.. She’s not— at least.. Not anymore.

Alhai wanted to believe that Coco was truly a different person and wasn’t deceiving them so when he had the chance to observe her all day until it was time to call it a day, he did within a heartbeat.

Slowly, the snide remarks, the glare, the mockery, the rude commentaries.. All of them halted.. For whatever reason he doesn’t know.

He had started to see her in a new light, in a different spotlight.

He had become so used to the sight of her smiles and playful grin that he became alarmed when he caught sight of her frown.

What’s worse is the cause of that frown was the fairy that Coco brought with her— her first friend.

That’s probably why his body moved on its own, right? Because he wanted to know why Coco was upset— he wanted to know what the fairy was saying to make her smile turn upside down.

So why is he.. Staring at her lips?

Why does her lips look so cute and tempting? Like a delicious treat waiting for him to devour them?

"Alhai?"

Not to mention, Coco’s soft and gentle voice..

Just what is happening? Why does Coco look incredibly extra beautiful for his eyes today?

Alhai wondered, his throat bobbing up and down.

"Alhai? Can you let go—" Coco started, but she was cut off when the silver haired mediator suddenly leaned in and pressed his lips against hers.

Coco’s body froze and her eyes went wide in surprise as the garden fairy let out a loud gasp.

It took Alhai a couple of seconds before he caught himself and realized what he had done, making him freeze, his lips just pressing against hers awkwardly.
