Chapter 383: Scolding
Chapter 383: Scolding
A certain red haired and blue haired mediator crowded the left side of the bed, their eyes glued to the sleeping and snuggling woman by the bed.
Her hair was slightly damp, skin glowing and looking supple, her lips were glossy, with her sleeping clothes engulfing her form in the best way possible— all because she had just done being bathed by the fourth husband.
Alhai kept his word and gave Coco a bath, albeit reluctantly, but fully willing.
Coco woke up while she was getting dragged inside the bathroom and was confused as to why she was being led inside, but she felt even more puzzled when she saw who was carrying her.
"Sleep." Alhai had grunted out when her confused gaze met his stern ones. "I’ll give you a quick bath because you reek of sweat and are covered in dirt."
The silver haired mediator just knew that when Coco nodded her head in understanding, wobbly and quite heavily, she wouldn’t remember a thing about it by the next time she woke up.
"Okay.." She had mumbled at the time, letting her head drop and lean against Alhai’s chest.
The simple action of letting her guard down made Alhai’s heart skip a beat, his own breath getting caught in his throat at the sight of a vulnerable and sleeping Coco in his arms.
Soon, still feeling like he was presented with the most precious thing, he started giving Coco a bath.
The bathing process didn’t take long because he just had to scrub the dirt and grime from Coco’s body, along with the couple splotches of red stains in her skin.
After he was done, he looked away for a moment and blindly wrapped Coco in a big towel— covering her and wrapping her in a big cocoon to make sure that the towel won’t slip down from her body.
Once he was done, he walked out of the bathroom with Coco perched in his arms.
The clothing process also didn’t take long because Heiren took it upon himself to prepare comfortable clothes and laid it on her bed.
When he saw Alhai walk through the doorway of Coco’s room, he was quick to bark an order towards the silver haired mediator to hold their wife against him while he carefully clothed her.
By the end of the session, Alhai and Heiren were standing by Coco’s bed, proud of their work.
Once they were finished with their task, however, Zaque and Quizen walked inside the bedroom, their faces devoid of emotion as they shot the second and third husbands an unreadable look.
Heiren wasn’t sure what he was seeing on their faces, but one thing can be said and that is..
"Why are you two here?" Heiren asked, raising an eyebrow towards the other two mediators who have done nothing, but watch them take care of their wife.
Zaque shuffled closer to Coco’s bed, his eyebrows pinching together, seemingly looking like he was thinking of something important, but when he opened his mouth and said what he had in mind, Heiren couldn’t stop the grimace from emerging in his face.
"I couldn’t help because I thought it would make her uncomfortable.." The red haired mediator mumbled, averting his gaze from his wife’s sleeping form under the covers.
"She literally didn’t mind me telling her that I’ll be giving her a bath though." Alhai rebutted, crossing his arms to show how displeased he was at how Zaque acted towards Coco when she needed help.
"Yeah, but—" Zaque wanted to argue, Heiren was quicker to speak and cut him off.
"The reason why she went to the city in the first place was to take the hunter licence examination." The brown haired mediator stated bluntly, narrowing his eyes towards Zaque.
"Before she did that, she paid all of our previous wife’s debt, gave us money to spend every week, gave us something healthy and fulfilling to eat every single day, and she even took us here with her." Heiren added to his previous sentence, placing a hand on his hip and frowning.
"Not to mention, she buys us things we don’t need on a daily basis.. She even supports our hobbies and passion.." Quizen mumbled, slowly agreeing to Heiren’s words.
"We get what you feel for her is genuine and doesn’t want to make her dislike you.." The words escaped Heiren’s mouth before he could fully comprehend them. "But helping her right now is more important than how you think it would make her uncomfortable."
"She came home tired and hungry? We help her relax and feed her. She came home upset with something? We don’t pry and just try to help cheer her up." Heiren said, giving Zaque a pointed stare.
"She looked confused when she woke up the other day with me sleeping by her side." Zaque murmured, a look of hurt crossing his features. "What would I do if she looked at me like that again?"
"Did you even tell her what happened?" Alhai asked, raising an eyebrow.
"He obviously didn’t." Heiren answered on Zaque’s behalf, a scoff leaving his lips by the end of his answer which made the first husband flinch.
"See?" Heiren gestured towards his friend, a triumphant look flickering in his gaze for a moment.
Alhai could only shake his head in disappointment and he was about to chastise Zaque once more, but he stopped and froze, the words that escaped his lips a moment prior finally sinking into his brain and making him feel dumbfounded.
"Coco brings home the money." Heiren stated, his gaze glued on Quizen and Zaque. "So all we could do is make her feel comfortable, fed, and happy, understood?"
As he was scolding the two husbands, the silver haired mediator shifted on his spot and slowly walked away from them, his feet carrying him towards the door with his heart hammering inside his chest.
He walked out of the room unannounced and walked briskly to his room, a single question lingering in his mind.
Why?
