Chapter 382: Coco?
Chapter 382: Coco?
"Coco? Oh, Coco!" Quizen sounded unsure at first when the front door opened, but when he saw that it was indeed his wife, his tone changed into a surprised and delighted one.
"Welcome back!" The mediator greeted with a smile, walking towards her with a skip on every step.
At his outburst, three heads with different colored hair peaked out of the slightly ajar kitchen door to look if it was really the person they were waiting for and upon seeing that it was actually Coco, one of them emerged from the room.
"I’m back." Coco greeted back, shooting a tired smile towards Quizen’s way.
Almost immediately, the two approaching mediators noticed the weird atmosphere around the woman and narrowed their eyes, their eyebrows pinching together in worry as they looked at her form closely.
"Are you okay?" Zaque asked, unable to control his concern towards the woman he adores.
Coco could only hum, her feet carrying her to the living room and walking past the two husbands quite absentmindedly. "I’m fine.. Just.. Just peachy? Yeah, just peachy."
The tone of Coco’s voice was unsure, like she has no idea how to describe what she was feeling at the moment, but she managed to use the right word— or at least, she thought she did.
"That’s.. That’s good to hear." Zaque mumbled, his own feet carrying him across the hall as he followed close behind her.
The garden fairy and the feline who was moving right beside his wife turned their heads to look at him, their eyes twinkling with something unreadable before they shook their heads.
Quizen and Zaque exchanged a glance, eyes as wide as saucers.
Does that mean that their wife is not feeling good like she told them? If she was indeed feeling alright, the two closest companions of their wife wouldn’t throw her under the carriage like this, right?
"Coco? Hey, Coco?" Quizen called out, beating Zaque from doing it first.
Coco merely hummed, plopping herself down on the couch, the thought of dirtying the cushion didn’t cross her mind due to the desire to just go somewhere comfortable to take a rest overwhelming her senses.
"What are you doing?" Zaque asked, his red eyes fixed on how his wife started to pat the lap pillow on the couch.
"Inspecting." Coco murmured, blinking slowly, trying to push the sleepiness out of her system, but ultimately failing on doing so.
"Inspecting.. What?" Quizen’s eyebrows shot up to his hairline, watching Coco drop her face to the pillow, her whole body sagging against the soft cushion and melting as if she was a butter.
Coco said something in response to his question, but the words came out muffled.
"What did you say?" Quizen crouched down, putting one knee on the carpeted floor and leaned his ear closer to Coco’s head.
Instead of hearing an answer, he was met with silence.
"Coco?" Zaque called, crouching beside the armrest and eyeing Coco’s hair spreading across the pillow and the armrest with worry, hoping to see if she would respond to his call.
"Hey, Coco?" Quizen called for her this time, raising a hand and placing it on her upper back, being mindful of not touching her anywhere inappropriate.
"What’s wrong?"
The red haired and blue haired mediators whipped their heads to the direction of the living room doorway, the sound of their friend’s voice startling them.
"Why is Coco laying on the couch?" Heiren asked, raising an eyebrow as he shuffled his way to the coffee table.
He placed the tray he was carrying on the table and quickly turned to Coco’s form on the couch, his gaze momentarily flickering towards Zaque and Quizen, silently asking for an explanation.
"She just laid down without answering our question." Quizen took the courtesy of explaining what happened, shrugging his shoulders.
"She must have been tired then." The second husband concluded, sighing heavily through his nose.
As if to agree with his notion, the garden fairy let out her usual ringing noise and nodded her head, pointing a finger towards Heiren— on the other hand, Konoha let out a soft mewl.
"It looks like I’m correct." Heiren hummed, turning back to the tray he carried and picked up a bite-sized cookie from the plate.
He whisked his body back to Lala, holding out the sweet treat towards the fairy’s way with a small, comforting smile. "This one is for you. I figured that you were tired from watching our wife so consider this as a reward."
His action made Zaque and Quizen shake their heads, not understanding why Heiren insisted on befriending the fairy.
It was obvious that she hated all of them, but the second husband kept saying that she was just that way because Coco is her friend— and a good friend will defend their friend no matter what.
Ring, ring, ring, ring.
Cue to the happy ringing of the garden fairy, accepting the cookie from Heiren and flying over to Coco, settling herself on top of Coco’s head before digging into the cookie like it was the best treat in the world.
"Such an adorable little fairy." Heiren stated, smiling softly.
"So.. What are we going to do with Coco?" Quizen asked, quickly changing the topic before it could escalate further on Heiren gushing over the fairy.
The second husband looked away from Lala and crossed his arms, staring at Coco instead.
"It would be best if we just leave her here." He said, his gaze softening slightly. "I don’t think she would be happy if she found out we tried to bathe her and change her out of her clothes.."
The three of them grew quiet for a moment, but then, a voice cut through silence.
"If you three are planning to leave her here, all dirty and in an uncomfortable sleeping position, then it’s best that I bathe her myself instead." Alhai said, making everyone turn to him.
"You?" Zaque raised an eyebrow, feeling flabbergasted beyond words. "Bathe her?"
"Yes? Is there a problem?"
