Never Just Friends

Cracks in the Plan

Cracks in the Plan

The tension between Hanna, Emily, and Talia was palpable as they moved through the hallways of the school, their eyes constantly scanning the crowd, searching for any hint of danger. The feeling of being watched never left them, and Hanna couldn’t shake the chill that had settled in her bones.

“I don’t like this,” Emily said, her voice barely above a whisper as they walked side by side. “We’re being watched, and we don’t even know by who.”

Hanna’s stomach tightened, but she forced a reassuring smile. “We’ll figure it out. We always do.”

But the uncertainty lingered, her words lacking the usual conviction. Every corner felt like a potential trap, and each glance from a passing student felt like it held a deeper meaning. The school had become a maze of suspicion, and Hanna couldn’t help but feel like she was walking deeper into its web.

As they reached their lockers, Hanna tried to push the feeling aside, focusing on the mundane act of gathering her books. That was when Talia appeared, her usually calm demeanor replaced with clear anxiety. She approached them, her phone clenched in her hand, her face drawn tight with worry.

“Have you seen this?” Talia asked, her voice shaking as she held up her phone.

Hanna’s heart skipped a beat as she looked at the screen. The post was as damning as it was false. It accused Talia of leaking private messages about the debate team—something Hanna knew wasn’t true.

“They’re turning everyone against me again,” Talia said, her voice breaking. “This is the same thing she did last time.”

Hanna clenched her fists, trying to hold back the surge of anger that rose in her chest. Ciara, or whoever was behind this, had crossed a line—again. They were targeting the people she cared about, and it had to stop.

“We’ll fix this,” Hanna said, her voice hardening. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. “But first, we need to find out who’s pulling the strings.”

Emily nodded, her expression just as determined. “We can’t keep reacting to her. We need to take control.”

Talia looked between the two of them, her fear still evident. “But how? We don’t even know who we’re dealing with.”

Hanna bit her lip, thinking. “We find them. We trace everything back, piece by piece. If it’s one thing Ciara’s never been good at, it’s covering her tracks.”

“We’ll figure it out,” Emily added firmly, her usual optimism shining through. “We always do.”

But Hanna couldn’t shake the feeling that things were spiraling faster than they could keep up. Each step forward only seemed to pull them deeper into a dangerous game they hadn’t fully understood yet. And with each new attack, the stakes grew higher, the consequences more real.

As the three of them stood there, the weight of their mission hanging in the air, Hanna knew one thing for certain: they were running out of time. Whoever was pulling the strings behind Ciara’s manipulation had played a dangerous hand, and it was only a matter of time before they made their next move.
