Never Just Friends

A Desperate Plea

A Desperate Plea

Hanna sat on her bed, her mind racing as the phone call with Elordi played over in her head. She had expected answers—some plan, some idea of how to fight back—but instead, she was left with more questions and an uneasy feeling in her chest.

“They’re escalating,” she had told Elordi, her voice shaking as she paced the room. “They’re targeting my friends now.”

Elordi’s voice had been calm, almost detached, as always. “I told you they’d come after you. This is how they work. Fear is their weapon.”

But Hanna wasn’t looking for philosophy. She needed action. “Then how do we stop them?” Her words came out sharp, desperate.

“You don’t,” Elordi had replied bluntly. “Not unless you’re willing to play their game.”

Hanna stopped pacing, her heart pounding in her chest. “What does that mean?” she had asked, her voice tight with apprehension.

Elordi had paused on the other end of the line, the silence stretching for a moment before he spoke again. “It means you have to make them think you’re stronger than they are. That you’re willing to do whatever it takes to win.”

Hanna’s stomach churned at the suggestion. She had always tried to avoid this kind of game. She didn’t want to be ruthless. She didn’t want to sink to their level. “And if I’m not?” she had asked quietly, fearing the answer.

“Then you lose,” Elordi had said simply, his voice like ice.

The finality of his words left Hanna feeling more vulnerable than ever. Was that the only choice she had? To play by their rules? Was she willing to sacrifice her own sense of decency to stop them?

She let out a shaky breath, trying to calm the storm in her mind. The lines between right and wrong were blurring, and the weight of the choices she had to make was suffocating. She thought about Finn, Emily, and Talia—how much they had supported her—and then she thought of the growing darkness that seemed to have seeped into every corner of her life.

Elordi was right about one thing: they were playing a dangerous game now. And if she didn’t learn to play by their rules, if she didn’t find a way to strike back, she risked losing everything she cared about.

Her thoughts shifted back to the threat—someone, or something, was out there, manipulating everything. She couldn’t let them control her. She couldn’t let them destroy her life.

And yet, as she sat there, staring at her phone, the fear in her chest intensified. Was it worth losing herself to defeat them?

As the silence of the room pressed down on her, Hanna knew one thing for sure—she had to make a choice. And that choice would determine everything.
