Never Just Friends

A Dangerous Proposition

A Dangerous Proposition

The air felt thicker than usual as Hanna stared at the message on her phone. The words seemed to pulse in front of her, each syllable taunting her as she read them again.

Elordi: Got something that’ll end her for good. Meet me tonight.

The message sent a cold shiver through her. She knew Elordi wasn’t exactly the most trustworthy ally, but he was the only one with the means to gather the kind of evidence that could stop Ciara for good. Her mind raced—was this the answer she had been searching for, or was it just another dangerous game she was playing with fire?

“Are you really going to keep working with him after everything?” Emily’s voice brought her back to reality. Hanna hadn’t realized her best friend had been reading over her shoulder, her face etched with concern.

Hanna let out a slow breath, fighting the guilt that gnawed at her. “What choice do I have?” she replied, the words tasting like ash on her tongue. “He’s the only one with the resources to fight her.”

Emily shook her head, her brows knitting together in frustration. “He’s dangerous, Hanna. You’ve seen what he’s capable of. And Finn…” Emily trailed off, her voice softening. “If Finn finds out about this, I don’t know what will happen.”

The mention of Finn made Hanna’s stomach twist. She had kept her meetings with Elordi a secret, knowing that Finn was already wary of him. She hadn’t wanted to make things worse between them. But every time she tried to distance herself from Elordi, Ciara escalated her attacks, and Hanna was desperate. She couldn’t let Ciara win.

“I know,” Hanna said quietly, her voice barely above a whisper. “I haven’t told him about the meetings, but I… I just don’t see another way.”

Emily looked at her, her gaze searching, as if trying to read the uncertainty in Hanna’s eyes. “You need to be careful, okay? I don’t trust Elordi, and I don’t want to see you caught in the middle of his games. I don’t want to lose you, Hanna.”

Hanna’s heart ached at Emily’s words, and for a moment, she almost told her everything—the doubts, the fears, the way Elordi’s presence made her feel like she was teetering on the edge of something dangerous. But instead, she simply nodded.

“I’ll be careful,” she promised, though even as she said it, she wasn’t sure how true it was. She had been treading on thin ice for weeks now, and every step seemed to bring her closer to the breaking point.

That night, Hanna drove to the address Elordi had given her. The streets were quiet, bathed in the harsh glow of streetlights as she pulled into a secluded parking lot. Her hands tightened around the steering wheel as she parked and turned off the engine.

She didn’t know what she was walking into, but she knew she couldn’t back down now. Not when she was so close to ending this.

Elordi was already there, standing by the entrance to an old, abandoned building. His posture was casual, his hands in his pockets, but his eyes were sharp as he looked up when she approached.

“You made it,” he said, his tone low but pleased.

“Let’s get this over with,” Hanna replied, trying to keep her voice steady, though her heart pounded in her chest. She wasn’t sure if it was anticipation or fear, but she could feel the weight of every decision she had made so far pressing down on her.

Elordi led her inside, through a darkened hallway and into a room filled with old filing cabinets and dusty tables. On the far wall, a projector was set up, and Elordi gestured toward it.

“Everything you need is here,” he said, his voice low. “Proof that Ciara’s been manipulating more than just you.”

Hanna’s pulse quickened as Elordi clicked a few buttons, bringing up a series of files and photos. Some were of Ciara meeting with various people, others were of shady text conversations, all pointing to a network of lies and threats.

“This is everything,” Elordi said, leaning against the table. “If you want to bring her down, this is the hammer that’ll do it.”

Hanna stared at the screen, feeling a knot tighten in her stomach. This evidence could finally expose Ciara for good, end her reign of terror once and for all. But at what cost?

“Is this really the only way?” Hanna asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Elordi’s eyes flickered with something she couldn’t quite place. “You know what she’s capable of. She’s going to keep hurting people if you don’t stop her now. You said you wanted to end this, right? This is your chance.”

Hanna’s fingers hovered over the keyboard, and for a moment, she hesitated. She wanted to believe this was the right choice, but a small voice inside her warned that making this move would change everything. The game had already gotten out of control, but with this, there would be no going back.

With a deep breath, she made her decision. Her fingers flew across the keys as she uploaded the files, ready to expose everything. Ready to end it once and for all.

Back at her house, Hanna lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. The weight of her decision hung heavy in the air, and as her phone buzzed again with a message from Elordi, she knew the consequences of her actions were just beginning to unfold.

Elordi: You did it. She won’t be able to recover from this.

But even as the words brought a sense of relief, Hanna couldn’t shake the feeling that the storm was far from over. Something told her that no matter how much she tried to fight Ciara’s hold on her life, the final battle would be the most dangerous one yet.
