Never Just Friends

Talia’s Secret

Talia’s Secret

The atmosphere in Hanna’s kitchen was thick with tension as they huddled around the table, finalizing their plans. Emily was scribbling notes, Finn leaned against the counter with his arms crossed, and Elordi sat casually in the corner, scrolling through his phone. Talia sat across from Hanna, her hands clasped tightly in her lap.

But something about Talia’s expression made Hanna pause. Her usual sharp demeanor was replaced with unease, her eyes flickering toward Hanna before darting away.

“Talia?” Hanna asked gently. “Is something wrong?”

Talia hesitated, her fingers fidgeting nervously. “There’s… something I need to tell you,” she said finally, her voice quieter than usual.

Hanna frowned, leaning forward. “What is it?”

The room grew still as everyone turned their attention to Talia. She took a deep breath, her shoulders slumping as though the weight of her confession was too heavy to bear.

“I wasn’t completely honest before,” Talia admitted, her voice trembling slightly. “Ciara didn’t just ruin my life. She blackmailed me. She has pictures—ones that could destroy me if they ever got out.”

The revelation hung in the air like a thunderclap. Hanna’s heart sank as she processed Talia’s words.

“What kind of pictures?” Emily asked cautiously, her pen freezing mid-air.

Talia’s face flushed with embarrassment and anger. “Personal ones,” she said tightly. “From a party a couple of years ago. I was stupid—I trusted the wrong person, and Ciara somehow got her hands on them.”

Hanna’s stomach churned as she imagined what Talia must have been going through. “Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” she asked softly.

Talia looked down at the table, her voice barely above a whisper. “Because I was scared. She said if I ever crossed her or told anyone, she’d make sure everyone saw them. I couldn’t take that risk.”

Finn’s jaw tightened, his frustration evident. “She’s a monster,” he said. “How many people has she done this to?”

Elordi let out a low whistle, shaking his head. “Classic Ciara. She doesn’t just hurt people; she owns them. And she’s damn good at it.”

Hanna reached across the table, placing her hand over Talia’s. “You’re not alone anymore,” she said firmly. “We’ll protect you. I promise.”

Talia’s eyes glistened with unshed tears as she nodded. “Thank you,” she said quietly.

As the group resumed their planning, Talia seemed lighter, as though a burden had been lifted. But Hanna couldn’t shake the anger simmering beneath her surface. Ciara’s cruelty knew no bounds, and it was clear she thrived on holding power over others.

“She’s running out of moves,” Emily said, her tone resolute. “We have the recording, the texts, and now Talia’s story. If we time this right, she won’t have anywhere left to hide.”

“But she’s not going down without a fight,” Finn warned. “We need to be prepared for whatever she throws at us next.”

Elordi leaned back in his chair, a glint of amusement in his eyes. “That’s the fun part,” he said. “Watching her squirm.”

Hanna glanced at him, her unease with Elordi’s methods creeping back. But for now, she pushed it aside. They had a common goal, and Ciara was their shared enemy.

Later that night, after everyone had left, Hanna sat in her room, replaying Talia’s confession in her mind. She thought about the fear Talia had carried for so long and the bravery it took to finally speak out.

Her phone buzzed, breaking her thoughts. It was a message from Talia.

Talia: Thank you for believing me. I don’t know what I’d do without you.

Hanna smiled faintly, her resolve hardening.

Hanna: We’ve got this. You’re not alone anymore.

As Hanna set her phone down, she stared out the window into the dark night. Ciara had hurt too many people for too long, but the tide was turning. And Hanna was determined to see it through to the end.
