Chapter 288 - 280: They Are Here for Revenge
Chapter 288 - 280: They Are Here for Revenge
Aurora Sinclair had only heard of this Grand Martial Uncle before but had never met him.
Her master had said he was a martial arts prodigy, the kind seen only once in a century. From the moment he joined the Radiant Void Sect, he had always been their pride and joy.
At first, the Grand Master had held him in high regard and intended to pass on the leadership of the Sect and the title of Guardian to him. But later, for reasons unknown, the Grand Master nearly disowned him.
Later, before entering seclusion, the Grand Master passed on the leadership of the Sect and the position of Guardian to her master.
Her master thus inherited the Radiant Void Sect, while the Grand Martial Uncle quit in a fit of pique and has never returned.
"Grand Martial Uncle might not return to Sunstone," Aurora Sinclair replied hesitantly, pulling out her phone. She stared at Jared Miles’s name in her contacts, but ultimately, she just locked the screen.
Seeing her reaction, Leigh Miles had a feeling she knew what had happened between them.
After all, Eldest Martial Brother had left so suddenly that day, leaving behind only a set of keys and a note with an address on the coffee table.
Leigh asked cautiously, "Senior Sister, did you and Eldest Martial Brother get into a fight?"
"No..." Aurora replied calmly.
"Then why didn’t he tell you directly?"
"He knows I’m busy."
"..."
Leigh pouted, clearly unconvinced.
"Senior Sister, so are we moving into the house Eldest Martial Brother bought?"
Aurora didn’t reply and went straight into the bathroom.
A hint of worry flickered in Leigh’s eyes.

「A secret detention center in the Kingsford Outskirts.」
A figure passed through multiple security checkpoints, entering the maximum-security section where the most dangerous criminals were held.
"Captain—" the men outside greeted him with a salute.
Kevin Whitlock nodded slightly as someone opened a cell door.
He slowly walked inside.
Inside was a corridor flanked by small cells, their heavy metal doors imprisoning high-risk inmates.
Each door had a small, arm-thick hatch that could be opened from the outside to observe the interior.
"She still won’t say anything?"
"She hasn’t said a thing, but she’s confessed to all the crimes, including the cases involving Aurora Sinclair."
Kevin Whitlock frowned, clearly dissatisfied. "Bring her out. I want to question her again."
"But Shaw already filed the closing report."
"Bring her out—" Kevin Whitlock shot him a glare. The agent on duty immediately fell silent, pulling out a keycard and swiping it on the adjacent access panel.
Ten minutes later, a woman with a face like a porcelain doll was led into an interrogation room. She wore a collar around her neck and the heavy shackles of a high-risk inmate.
"Captain, she’s here."
The junior agent locked the door to the room and stood guard outside.
An indeterminate amount of time passed. Just as the junior agent was about to doze off against the wall, a massive BOOM erupted from behind him.
The very walls seemed to shake.
The junior agent, now wide awake, immediately threw open the door to the interrogation room. Thick smoke billowed out, choking him. After coughing for what felt like an eternity, he saw two figures lying on the floor.
One was dead at the scene; the other, gravely wounded.
"God! Captain—"
"Somebody, help—"
"Help—"

「One hour later.」
Several black cars were parked outside the Sinclair Estate.
With a grim expression, Beta Morgan knocked on the main gate.
Alvin Morgan and Aurora Sinclair emerged right after, quickly slipping into a car and driving away.
Awakened by the commotion, Master Sinclair threw on a jacket and asked Butler Sinclair, "What’s happened?"
"It seems there’s been an incident at the Martial Affairs Bureau. Miss Aurora and Young Lord Morgan have already rushed over."
Master Sinclair’s brow furrowed deeply. Kingsford had felt anything but peaceful lately.
Especially with the recent shake-up among the Seven Great Families. The Vance Family had replaced the Lowell Family, and the smaller families that once relied on the Lowells seemed to be struggling.
A few days ago, a minor family had sent a formal request for an audience with the Sinclairs, but he had refused it.
At a time like this, it was best to observe quietly and make no moves.
"Send someone to look into it. I have a bad feeling about this."
Butler Sinclair nodded and went out.
Meanwhile, in the car, Alvin Morgan looked awful. He had just woken up with a vicious hangover, and his head was pounding.
Aurora Sinclair was massaging his temples, but he was still in agony.
Beta Morgan, smelling the reek of alcohol from the back seat, wondered, ’Just how much did the Young Master drink?’
Suddenly, Aurora shouted, "Get down—"
Beta Morgan reflexively lowered his head, dodging a bullet while simultaneously slamming on the brakes.
The car screeched, skidding in a wide arc.
Gunfire erupted outside. The surrounding black cars from the Martial Affairs Bureau reacted instantly, forming a shield around Alvin Morgan’s vehicle.
"Stay here..."
Aurora Sinclair quickly opened the car door, but Alvin Morgan grabbed her arm. "Don’t go."
"I’ll be back." Aurora was surprisingly strong; she easily pried his hand off and leaped out of the car.
A black shadow shot out from between the cars like a phantom.
The moment the assassins opposite saw her, they lost all will to fight and immediately turned to flee.
Those who couldn’t escape detonated the explosives strapped to their bodies, like suicide soldiers.
In the end, Aurora only managed to capture one man, barely alive. She found a spider tattoo on him, identical to the one on the Spider Woman.
Beta Morgan’s expression was grim. He gritted his teeth. "They came for revenge against the Young Master."
By the time they sped to the secret detention center, it was already cordoned off by the Martial Affairs Bureau, completely impenetrable.
Even before they entered, they could hear Marshall Shaw raging inside. "Who authorized you to take the Spider Woman out of her cell?"
The junior agent cowered, his head bowed. "It was... Whitlock..." he whispered.
"What did I tell you?! You treat my orders like they’re bullshit!"
"That’s not it..."
"I’m telling you, if anything happens to Kevin Whitlock, it’ll be your ass on the line!"
Marshall Shaw looked ready to explode. He slammed a notebook on the table, and the force of it scared everyone in the room into silence.
As they entered, Alvin Morgan expertly pulled on a pair of white gloves. "Have you checked the surveillance footage?" he asked Shaw.
Upon seeing him, Shaw’s grim face lit up as if he’d seen a savior. "Young Master, you’re finally here. About your cousin..."
Alvin ignored him. "Where’s the surveillance room?"
Shaw was momentarily speechless but quickly led them to the surveillance room.
"It’s all here," an agent said, vacating a chair for Alvin Morgan.
The footage showed Kevin Whitlock talking normally with the Spider Woman. But fifty minutes in, for some unknown reason, she suddenly flew into a rage. Her half-black hair instantly turned white, and an invisible Power erupted from her, blasting Whitlock into the wall.
The Spider Woman instantly shattered her handcuffs and lunged forward to strangle Whitlock. He struggled to draw his gun and fired a shot. The bullet hit her, and she collapsed to the floor, groaning.
Whitlock immediately scrambled to his feet and tried to run, but the Spider Woman grabbed his ankle in a death grip.
He raised his gun again. The next instant, an explosion rocked the room, and the monitor went black.
After watching the footage through once, Alvin Morgan turned to the nearby agent. "Where were you when this happened?"
"The... surveillance room..." the agent replied nervously. He stood ramrod straight, but his legs were trembling.
"When you saw the Spider Woman acting strangely, why didn’t you inform the guards outside?"
"I... I fell asleep..." the agent confessed, his eyes squeezed shut in fear.
Hearing this, Shaw slammed his fist on the adjacent table. "You bastard!" he roared. "Do you have any idea where you are? You were on night watch, and you fell asleep on me?!"
"I’m sorry! I don’t know why, I was just so sleepy tonight—"
"So you have an excuse for sleeping on the job? This is gross negligence!" Shaw was so furious he looked like he wanted to grab the nearest object and hurl it at the agent.
Unlike the furious Shaw, Alvin calmly scanned the room. "What did you eat for dinner?" he asked.
"Instant noodles."
"Where’d you throw out the container?"
The agent pointed to the trash can by the door, then his eyes widened in shock. "I threw it in there! It was there just a minute ago..."
"Who else has been in this room?"
The agent thought for a moment, then said hesitantly, "Well, a lot of people just came in to look at the footage..."
Alvin felt his headache worsening. He pinched the bridge of his nose, hard.
Seeing his discomfort, Shaw immediately roared, "Go find every single person who was in here!"
