My Wife is a Hidden Big Shot

Chapter 287 - 279: Aurora, You’re Acting Like a Scummy Girl

Chapter 287 - 279: Aurora, You’re Acting Like a Scummy Girl

After Stephen Lowell woke up, Aurora Sinclair and Alvin Morgan prepared to return to the capital.

The Spider Woman was implicated in several major cases and was now under heavy guard by the Martial Affairs Bureau.

Through Alvin Morgan’s connections, Aurora Sinclair got to see her again.

She seemed to have aged considerably, and only half of her silver hair had returned.

She seemed to despise Aurora Sinclair, her gaze as if laced with poison.

Alvin Morgan’s brow furrowed, and he asked directly, "Who’s pulling the strings?"

The Spider Woman didn’t answer, instead looking at Aurora Sinclair. "So he’s your little lover?"

An agent from the Martial Affairs Bureau standing beside her slammed the table and shouted sternly, "You were told to confess, not to spout nonsense!"

The Spider Woman just smiled and asked the agent for a cigarette.

Alvin Morgan continued to question her. "Who was the man in Maple Leaf Valley impersonating you?"

The Spider Woman’s expression shifted slightly. She took a drag from her cigarette and replied in a raspy voice, "I’m done playing with you, Miss Sunstone..."

The voice was identical to that of the masked man Aurora Sinclair had encountered at Maple Leaf Valley.

But Aurora Sinclair didn’t look particularly surprised. Beside her, Alvin Morgan even smirked. "So she knows ventriloquism, too."

The cigarette between the Spider Woman’s fingers paused for a moment. She glanced up at Aurora Sinclair, finished her cigarette, and stubbed it out in the ashtray. Suddenly, she said to the agent, "I’m tired..."

After that, no matter what Alvin Morgan asked, she refused to speak another word.

「At the same time.」

A figure hidden in the darkness received a phone call.

The voice on the other end was very quiet, as if they were making the call in secret.

"Master, the hunt failed. Lady Spider was captured by the one from Sunstone."

"She went and provoked her?"

"Yes..."

The figure in the darkness seemed to sigh, then their tone turned exceptionally ruthless. "Kill her..."

"Ma... Master... Lady Spider, she..."

But the call had already been disconnected.

The caller’s face was filled with astonishment. It took them a long while to recover before they pulled out a cigarette pack, lit one, and started smoking.

Just then, there was a sudden knock on the door.

"Captain, the S-class fugitive has been caught. Headquarters wants us to go pick them up..."

"Understood."

The man took a few more drags from his cigarette before stubbing the half-smoked butt into the ashtray on his desk.

「High in the sky.」

Aurora Sinclair was sipping a milk tea while on a video call with Master Sinclair.

In a booming voice, the old master pointed at a storeroom filled with things and asked, puffing his cheeks, "Aren’t you dating the Young Master of the Morgan Family?"

Aurora Sinclair shook her head. "No, Mr. Beta was just talking nonsense."

At that moment, not far away, Beta Morgan, who was holding a horse stance with an orange balanced on his head, trembled, and the orange fell to the floor, rolling several times.

Benjamin Morgan dutifully extended his time by five minutes.

"Then why did the Morgans come with a marriage proposal?"

Aurora Sinclair glanced at Alvin Morgan, who was reading a book across from her. She stood up a little awkwardly and started walking away, murmuring, "They just like me."

The video on her phone shook a few times, and then Janet Sinclair’s face appeared on the screen. "Aurora, what are your thoughts on this? Has Young Lord Morgan expressed that he likes you?"

Aurora Sinclair’s gaze drifted, a clear sign of her guilty conscience. Tanner Sinclair immediately snatched the phone and said excitedly:

"My dear niece, you’re still young, there’s no rush to date. There are plenty of good guys out there, you should look around more before you decide, you know?"

Aurora Sinclair secretly glanced back at them and nodded.

"By the way, Aurora, why didn’t you tell us sooner that the King of Night from DAF is your senior brother? If Leigh Miles hadn’t mentioned she was going to visit her senior brother, we’d still be in the dark!"

Aurora Sinclair thought for a moment. "I forgot."

"..."

If there was anyone in the Sinclair family whom Tanner Sinclair could never get angry with, it was his little niece, even when she was being utterly exasperating.

"Master Sinclair invited him over for dinner today. What time does your flight land? You should come straight over!"

The image on the screen switched to the living room, where a familiar figure was sitting on the sofa, drinking tea. When he saw the camera, his light blue eyes crinkled into a roguishly handsome smile. "Junior Sister, long time no see."

Aurora Sinclair nodded at him. "Lennox."

Suddenly, a hand reached out from behind Aurora Sinclair and pressed the ’end call’ button on her phone.

A familiar, warm presence closed in. "First one senior brother leaves, and now another one shows up? Aurora, you have more than enough senior brothers..."

A faint blush crept onto Aurora Sinclair’s face. She put her phone away and turned to walk around him, but Alvin Morgan pulled her into his arms.

"Are you really going to make me your secret boyfriend?"

Aurora Sinclair snuck a glance at him and nodded.

"Aurora, that’s what a player would do..."

Aurora Sinclair froze and whispered, "Sorry... Mmph..."

Alvin Morgan leaned down and silenced her with a kiss. After a moment, he pulled back slightly. "Don’t say sorry to me. It makes me think you’re about to reject me again."

Aurora Sinclair paused, stunned. Alvin Morgan rested his forehead against hers. "Are you really going to reject me?"

She bit her lip and slowly shook her head. "I won’t."

A smile finally graced Alvin Morgan’s lips. He lowered his head again and gently kissed her, as if savoring the world’s finest red wine—a light taste, yet lingering and tender.

「Outside the Sinclair Estate.」

Butler Sinclair saw the Second Miss, whom he hadn’t seen in a long time, get out of the car with the Young Master of the Morgan Family, just as she usually did.

This time, however, his expression was different. His gaze toward Alvin Morgan, in particular, was one of careful assessment.

’He’s certainly impeccable on the outside, but his family background and age don’t quite match up.’

’The age gap is too large. Our Second Miss will have a hard time in the future.’

"Second Miss, the Master is waiting for you inside!"

This time, aside from the eldest son’s family of three, nearly all the Sinclairs had come.

The Sinclair men didn’t look too kindly on Alvin Morgan. They politely invited him in and then proceeded to ignore him.

Only Jade Sinclair and Alden Quincy were making small talk with him.

Meanwhile, Aurora Sinclair was surrounded by the majority of the Sinclairs, who were fussing over her.

At dinner, Aurora Sinclair was seated between two of the girls, while Alvin Morgan was placed between Tanner Sinclair and Zeke Quincy.

The two men exchanged a look, and with a silent understanding, they began to ply Alvin with drinks.

By the fifth glass, Aurora Sinclair stepped in. "Uncle, he can’t drink anymore."

Tanner Sinclair chuckled in response. "But isn’t he not your responsibility right now?"

Aurora Sinclair was at a loss for words.

Once the men started drinking, things never ended quickly. Aurora Sinclair had already watched two episodes of a Darius Lynch drama with Jean Quincy and Leigh Miles, and the men were still at the table.

Aurora Sinclair finally couldn’t sit still any longer and got up to head to the dining room.

Alvin Morgan’s expression was normal, but his eyes were shining from the alcohol.

Tanner Sinclair, beside him, was about to pour him another drink but was stopped by Aurora Sinclair. "That’s enough!"

She popped a pill into his mouth and, to everyone’s astonishment, lifted him into her arms and walked out of the dining room.

"Aurora, let him sleep in the guest room..." Tanner Sinclair quickly called out.

Led by a Sinclair family servant, Aurora Sinclair laid the drunken Alvin Morgan on the bed in the guest room and covered him with a blanket.

When she came out, she found a crowd of Sinclairs standing by the door.

They didn’t seem to expect Aurora Sinclair to come out so quickly.

"Ahem... Is Young Lord Morgan all right?" Master Sinclair cleared his throat twice and asked with feigned concern.

"He’s drunk."

"Is... he? He didn’t seem like it! He looked perfectly lucid just now." Tanner Sinclair’s voice grew quieter and quieter under his niece’s gaze.

Aurora Sinclair pressed her lips together and said calmly, "He is someone I will protect."

Under the complicated gazes of the Sinclairs, she turned around, went back into the guest room, and locked the door.

The crowd exchanged glances. ’Why does it feel like Aurora is angry?’

Inside the room, Aurora Sinclair sat beside Alvin Morgan. Seeing his uncomfortable expression, her eyes filled with regret.

She raised her hands and began massaging his temples, a steady stream of "Power" flowing into his body. She only stopped when his complexion returned to normal and his breathing evened out.

When she opened the door this time, the crowd outside was gone. Only Leigh Miles remained.

Upon seeing her, Leigh’s tense expression suddenly relaxed with relief.

She stepped forward, took her hand, and led her toward the room they were sharing.

Only after closing the door securely did she say with a serious expression:

"Senior Sister, Eldest Brother sent a message. He said that because of the Lowell Family incident, people from the International Martial Alliance will be coming to Veridia for an inspection soon. He also said that Grandmaster Hector Lennox is on the list for the inspection team..."
