Chapter 261 - 253: It Won’t Hurt if You’re With Me
Chapter 261 - 253: It Won’t Hurt if You’re With Me
The convoy ground to a halt.
Everyone looked back, their expressions turning grim.
The timing of the attack was far too coincidental.
"Sir, are you all right?" Beta Morgan asked with concern.
Although they had already left the blast radius, the tremors could still cause him secondary injuries.
"Let me see..."
Aurora Sinclair had somehow darted into the vehicle and was now beside Alvin Morgan, taking his wrist.
A faint wisp of Power coursed through his damaged meridians. Alvin Morgan had suffered the most severe injuries this time; not only had he broken a rib, but his meridians were damaged yet again.
The Black Wolves had rushed him overnight to the Royal Hospital, the best in Masovia, for treatment.
The surgery alone took five to six hours.
Aurora Sinclair watched over Alvin Morgan for three days and three nights. Only when he finally woke up did she retreat, keeping her distance outside his room.
"Where’s Aurora?"
Alvin Morgan’s face was deathly pale, and his chest throbbed with excruciating pain every time he spoke.
Beta Morgan glanced toward the door. Seeing the figure peeking inside, he said with a sigh of resignation, "She’s keeping watch outside."
"Let her in."
Beta Morgan hesitated before pulling a stack of peace charms, bought in Masovia, from his pocket. "She asked me to give these to you..."
"Let her in," Alvin Morgan repeated, his voice heavier now, laced with a hint of anger. Beta Morgan immediately got up and went to get her.
"My lady, I’m begging you, please go in! The master’s chest hurts. Don’t do anything that might make him tear his stitches."
A flicker of hesitation crossed Aurora Sinclair’s eyes, but Beta Morgan had already pushed her into the hospital room.
"Come here..." Alvin Morgan’s voice was terribly weak, and his fingers twitched feebly.
Aurora Sinclair was wearing a cloak that obscured her face. She took a few steps forward, then stopped a short distance away.
"Aurora, come here..." The light in Alvin Morgan’s eyes dimmed a little as he forced himself to repeat the words.
But Aurora Sinclair didn’t move.
Alvin Morgan’s brow gradually furrowed. He seemed to be enduring immense pain, letting out a ragged gasp from time to time.
"Does the wound hurt?" Aurora Sinclair asked nervously.
A voice that sounded like it was squeezed from his throat replied, "Come here..."
Aurora Sinclair finally walked over, and he immediately seized her hand.
Alvin Morgan’s forehead was slick with sweat, and he gripped her hand as if mustering all his remaining strength.
"Morgan, I got you hurt again." Aurora Sinclair looked at their clasped hands, filled with guilt.
"It was Eugene Morgan," Alvin Morgan replied with difficulty, his breathing ragged.
Aurora Sinclair quickly bent down to stop him from speaking further. She touched a finger to his chest, slowly channeling a small amount of Power into him.
His meridians were devastated; most of them had been severed.
"I’ll go get Mr. Beta."
"Don’t go..."
Alvin Morgan’s eyes were gentle, and the corners of his lips seemed to lift into a faint smile.
Just then, the afterglow of the setting sun streamed through the bright, floor-to-ceiling windows, bathing him in a golden light.
Warm, serene, almost sacred...
Aurora Sinclair froze. Her fingers unconsciously drifted to his face, her pupils contracting slightly.
"It doesn’t hurt when you’re with me..."
"Okay."

Over the next few days, Aurora Sinclair would go out alone every day wearing her cloak and return with armfuls of miscellaneous bags.
She would then slip into the kitchen to brew all sorts of restorative soups for Alvin Morgan, the aroma so fragrant it was mouthwatering.
The soups brought a healthy, rosy color back to Alvin Morgan’s face. He recovered quickly, and after a week, he was discharged, ready to return to the Black Wolf Stronghold.
Aiden Morgan came to pick them up personally, but they were intercepted by members of the Royal Family just as they left the Royal Hospital.
"Commander Alpha, the King requests your presence."
Aiden Morgan’s expression darkened. The ones who had launched the thermal weapon earlier were from the Masovian Royal Family.
They had acted swiftly, even dispatching their royal elite to survey the area.
After he had taken his master to the hospital, he immediately sent men to Aurumport to find the Black Caimans, but they had already been eliminated by the Masovian Royal Family. As for Donovan Lockwood, his fate was unknown.
In other words, the King of Masovia had been eyeing that location for a long time but had held back for some reason. They only made their move after the Black Wolves had acted.
Clearly, they wanted to swoop in and reap the benefits.
A car from the Royal Family took them to a secluded royal villa.
Although it wasn’t the Royal Palace, the decor was incredibly lavish. Gleaming gold was everywhere, the ceilings were adorned with massive classical frescoes, and the floors were covered with soft, vintage-style carpets.
The attendants inside were all young, beautiful women wearing veils and ornate gauze dresses. Their exposed arms and ankles were adorned with silver bells.
As they walked, the bells chimed, creating a pleasant sound.
However, no one was in the mood to appreciate the beautiful women. They walked with hurried steps, their expressions grave.
There was an inexplicable pressure in the air that put everyone on high alert.
Aurora Sinclair supported Alvin Morgan’s arm, secretly channeling Power into him.
There was someone of unknown strength here; his domain of Power enveloped the entire villa.
’This level of strength is similar to my master’s. I can’t be careless.’
"Morgan, there might be someone inside who’s stronger than me," Aurora Sinclair said in a hushed voice.
Alvin Morgan smiled. "What are our chances?"
"Fifty-fifty."
"That’s enough."
"Hm?"
Alvin Morgan leaned close to her ear and said, "It’s probably the Guardian of Masovia."
Aurora Sinclair’s gaze sharpened.
***
King Carter was a man in his seventies with graying hair and eyebrows, and a kind smile on his face.
Behind him sat a middle-aged man who appeared low-key but radiated an aura that was impossible to ignore.
"Your Majesty the King..."
Aiden Morgan placed his right hand on his left shoulder and bowed slightly to the old man on the dais.
Carter raised his hand amiably, inviting them to sit.
"Commander Alpha, please have a seat..."
The surrounding attendants glided over and poured them hot milk tea.
Aurora Sinclair noticed that the lead attendant was none other than Princess Martha, whom she had seen before at the Black Wolf Stronghold. The princess even managed to covertly slip Aiden Morgan a small ball of paper.
Aurora Sinclair glanced up at the middle-aged man, but he was simply looking down, sipping his own milk tea, seemingly unaware of the subtle exchange.
After the attendants finished pouring the tea, King Carter said with a chuckle, "The Black Wolf Mercenaries have worked hard this time."
Aiden Morgan held his teacup, staring at the milk tea within, and replied neutrally, "We were just doing our duty."
"And this injured gentleman is...?" King Carter looked toward Alvin Morgan in the wheelchair, but Aiden Morgan deflected by introducing him as the Black Wolves’ vice-commander.
King Carter looked at Alvin Morgan with surprise a few more times. "How is it that I’ve never seen him before?"
"He’s always been at headquarters." Growing impatient with Carter’s probing, Aiden Morgan asked directly, "Your Majesty the King, for what reason have you summoned us here today?"
Carter chuckled. "We’ve had our eye on that place for a long time. It’s been a constant headache, as we couldn’t find a way in to rescue our people. I didn’t expect Commander Alpha to do us such a great favor..."
Aiden Morgan sneered inwardly.
’What a coincidence!’
Carter rambled on, beating around the bush for a long time before finally getting to the point.
"Those people were injected with some kind of drug that drives them mad. We, the Royal Family, are willing to help relieve them of their suffering."
Aiden Morgan’s gaze turned instantly cold.
’So they’re after the lab data.’
"Your Majesty the King, we will see to it that the citizens of Masovia are returned safely," Aiden Morgan replied with a nod after taking a sip of his milk tea.
"Commander Alpha, to free them from their suffering sooner, the Royal Family will also need a copy of any data the Black Wolves obtained there." Carter finally revealed his true intentions.
But Aiden Morgan’s tone was sharp. "Your Majesty the King, rescuing them was an urgent matter. We had no time to obtain their data."
The smile on Carter’s face froze for a moment. He then said with feigned regret:
"Is that so! Well then, I suppose we’ll just have to rely on the researchers from that underground lab to help us create an antidote."
