Chapter 18
Chapter 18
*Damien's pnt. of view*
I managed to move my chair to the kitchen in attempt to find something sharp to cut through my restraint and Veronica was stupid enough to leave a broken bottle on the floor.
I leaned as far as I could back and managed to cut the rope on the piece of glass.
As soon as my hands were free, I got to untying my feet and soon enough I was finally out of my restraints.
As soon as I stood and made my way for the door, I heard a gun cock and then came "going somewhere?"
I slowly turned around and there stood Veronica with her gun pointed at me.
I looked around for a distraction and I soon found it, without thinking twice I picked up the bottle throwing it in her direction, causing it to smash on the wall next to her.
As soon as she was distracted I made a run for her, and slammed her against the wall holding her by her throat, allowing her little breathing space. Her hands came up trying to free her neck from my iron grip, but she was making no progress.
Her eyes widened in fear and I couldn't help but smile knowing this one was ugly, and filled with unspoken promises.
Anger coursed through me, and I know I could easily snap her neck, but I decided against it because I already had another death on my hands, instead I just gave her a message.
"Don't you ever come near my family ever again, and don't you ever and I mean never try to threaten me again, or next time I won't hesitate to snap your neck."
I squeezed a little harder and she started going limp, "understood?" I asked, as I eased my hand on her neck, and she rasped a "Yes."
"Good."
With that I pulled away only to punch her into darkness. Her body fell limply to the ground and I walked away, closing the door behind me.
*Third person's pnt. of view *
Jade held on to her mother tightly, as she sobbed into her mother's loving embraced.
She was washed over with so many emotions that all she could do was cry. Happy tears were mixed with that of sadness, anger, pain, but most of all relief.
Sarah rubbed Jade's back as she soothed her daughters cries, ignoring her own fresh fallen tears.
In all honesty, Sarah wanted to cry out too, she wanted to let it all go, but what she holds inside is what makes Sarah who she is, she refuses to let go of certain memories and emotions, because without them she would be weak, naïve, and simply defenseless.
She decided on holding on to her cries for when she was alone, but now she had to be strong, for Jade, Damien, and her unborn child.
Jade's cries finally died down, and they sat in a comfortable silence, munching on a few energy bars.
"Mom, is there something you're not telling me ?" Jade suddenly asked out of the blue.
Sarah breathed in slowly and let it out slowly, knowing that soon enough that question was going to be asked, but instead of answering, she tested her daughter's intelligence.
"What do you mean?" Sarah asked.
"I mean, is there something you're not telling me, growing up you and dad used to be talking on hush mode about your past together, and mentioning some people I have never met such as Tyler and Veronica. Soon enough I get kidnapped, when I managed to escape ironically I find you here too, so can you please tell me what is going on. Mom please, I have hardly asked you for anything, so please just tell me this once, what is going on, I at least deserve that." Said Jade ready and fed up with people keeping things from her.
"You're right, you deserve to know, but that I means I'll have to start from the beginning." Explained Sarah.
They sat against a tree trunk as Sarah explained her entire past to present to her daughter, who listened attentively, not missing or uttering a word.
"... I managed to escape from Tyler once again, but this time he's not gonna be happy, and the next time he gets his hands on me, I'll be lucky if I see the light of day again." Sarah finished her story.
She couldn't nor wanted to understand Tyler's obsession with her, all she knew was that it was getting worse and worse, and that it was deadly.
"What about you? What happened to you?" Sarah averted her attention to Jade.
Jade took a deep breath and began explaining to her mom what happened, starting from the first day of school and what led up to her ending up in the forest.
At the end of her story they sat once again in a comfortable silence, both trapped into their own little state of mind, soon the sun started setting, and Jade leaned against Sarah ready to drift off to dreamland.
But just as sleep started to sedate her body, her mom sat up.
"Mom wha-"
"Shhh" Sarah cut Jade off mid-sentence.
"Listen." Sarah indicated.
It was eerily quiet. In fact too quiet, the ladies looked around simultaneously for anything that was out of the ordinary.
There was a moment where they sat still as statues, as if the entire world stood still, in silence, waiting patiently for what was about to come.
Soon enough Sarah spoke quietly to Jade " on my signal you get up and run, follow the stream in the direction it's flowing, there's someone watching us, and as soon as you start running don't slow down and don't look back, no matter what you do, keep running. Understand?"
"Yes." Jade replied.
"Good. Ready? Shoulder your bag." Sarah instructed.
"Get up quietly and slowly." Sarah said as Jade mirrored her actions.
"Now, run now!" Sarah whispered urgently and they took off running as fast as their legs could take them.
Soon enough they heard thundering footsteps coming their way, they pumped their legs faster, their lungs burning for oxygen, their hearts beating wildly.
The path near the stream started becoming narrow, as the stream turned into a churning river.
They arrived at the end of the small path that bordered the river, and they stood at the top of a waterfall.
Looking it was a long way down, not only that, but at the bottom of that waterfall would definitely be filled with jagged rocks and violent waters.
"There they are! Freeze!" Said a man, then he spoke in a walkie talkie "We have them cornered sir."
"Stay where you are!" The man ordered again.
Sarah looked over at Jade, and sent her a wink, and in a split second Sarah hugged Jade, and they threw themselves down towards the churning water at the end of the waterfall.
*Tyler's pnt of view *
I was currently at the warehouse working out when Jake came in frantic asking me for help.
I had to give him kudos for protecting that bitch named Jade from me, but that doesn't mean that I won't kill her when I get my hands on her, and heck if I have to go through Jake to do it, so be it.
It's not like I care for that son of a bitch, and I mean that literally. Jake means absolutely nothing to me, he's the result of a one night stand.
I wasn't shown affection from my parents when I was born, neither will I waste my time I'm on Jake.
My parents didn't want me, and I was abandoned, left alone to fend for myself.
It was me against the world.
It was me, myself, and I. It is me, myself, and I. And it will always be me, myself, and I.
Call me selfish but trusting others only got me hurt, and usually had me facing the barrel of a gun in the end. So call me whatever you want, but I don't care. I only care for myself and that's the end of the story.
My obsession with Sarah was once pure love, but now its revenge, lust, and hate. The moment she left me I was devastated, I could see the hatred in her eyes for me, and that crushed me.
She was the one person that finally cared for me, and it's partially my fault for her leaving me, but no matter, I will teach her a lesson about leaving me, then I will make it up to her.
I was brought back to reality when Jake mentioned that Jade escaped and I couldn't help but rush to where I've kept Sarah hostage just to find it empty.
Like mother like daughter.
I didn't waste a second before getting my guys involved.
I have some of the best trackers and snipers on my team, and I know they will deliver, I mean they have to deliver unless they want to come home to their families murdered.
It didn't take them long for my men to find them, and just as I thought they were together.
Jade was leaned against Sarah, who held her, and they sat together under a tree.
Such a fucking cosy picture.
I told my men to stay put, but one of them just had to move, and they caught Sarah's attention.
That's one of the reasons that I love her, she's one hell of a woman. Smart, beautiful, and she can take care of herself in any case.
Soon enough I heard movements, which sounded much like running.
When they finally stopped there was a moment of quiet, except for the noise in the background that sounded much like a river.
"There they are! Freeze!" Said Lucas, the one in command, then he spoke in a walkie talkie to me "We have them cornered sir."
"Good, don't shoot, but use force if you have to, they will put up a fight, bring them to me."
"Stay where you are!" Lucas ordered again.
Then five seconds later he cursed out "Fuck!"
And that's when I knew, those bitches got away.
