Chapter 1172: Thunderous Slaughter
Chapter 1172: Thunderous Slaughter
The Third Elder, the Fourth Elder and the others were locked in a standoff with Deceitful Fox. Following Ye Fan’s orders, they stayed ready to attack at any moment, creating a hair‑trigger, one spark and it all explodes atmosphere—yet the real slaughter never actually began. On Deceitful Fox’s side they’d been on guard the whole time, nerves stretched taut, constantly braced to meet the battle that could break out any second.
But no clash erupted. The Third Elder and Fourth Elder kept ordering the Hunting Teams to shift around, making it look like an assault on the castle was about to kick off—only it never did.
Under this kind of deadlock, Deceitful Fox’s people were suffocating with frustration. They were already limbering up, itching for a big fight, but the battle they’d pictured just didn’t happen; they were still stuck in a staring contest.
In the blink of an eye four or five days passed, leaving Deceitful Fox’s side so anxious they were cursing up a storm.
Inside the castle, Deceitful Fox raged, "Motherf—, those Sky Net bastards just won’t attack. They keep circling us—what the hell is that supposed to be? Are they expecting us to charge out instead?"
"Chief, in my view, they’re wearing down our morale. For days our people have been on high alert, constantly on guard against an enemy attack. But the enemy never actually strikes, they just keep up that ’ready to attack any time’ posture. Our people are exhausted, yet they don’t dare relax, afraid the enemy will launch a fierce assault the next second. If we let down our guard and they suddenly hit hard, that’d be a huge disadvantage for us. So all we can do is grind it out." Garcia said worriedly.
Adams added, "Sure, we’ve got our men rotating—one part resting while the other stays on watch—but Sky Net’s refusal to attack is still a form of attrition. If it came down to a straight-up firefight, that wouldn’t be so bad. What’s terrifying is this endless standoff. The guys below are suffering like hell."
"I’m sure a big battle is about to explode. It’s impossible to stare at each other forever," Deceitful Fox said. "How are the men we had lying in wait around Sky Net’s perimeter doing?"
"They’re basically routed, scattered everywhere. They ran into Sky Net’s attack—some died, some fled. They’re no help to us anymore." War Bear said gloomily.
"Looks like Sky Net’s delay in attacking serves two purposes: first, to wipe out our forces ambushing them on the outskirts; second, to grind down our morale, then hit us with a thunderclap offensive. That puts us in a very passive position." Deceitful Fox said, displeased.
"All we can do is wait for them at our leisure and use defense as offense. No matter how much Sky Net thrashes around, we’re fully prepared. Every corner of this castle is fortified to hell and back. As long as Sky Net dares to come, they’ll pay a terrible price." Adams said.
Ye Fan was also discussing attack plans with the Third Elder, Fourth Elder and the others.
"Mr. Ye, the enemy operating around our perimeter has basically been wiped out. It’s time we take the initiative. After these days of standoff, I believe Deceitful Fox’s people are already low on morale and mentally exhausted. Drag it out any longer and we’ll lose the effect we want. Once the enemy snaps out of it, they’ll adjust their schedule—it’s impossible for them to keep all their attention locked on us. So the time to unleash a thunderclap offensive has come." the Third Elder said.
"We’re fully prepared, just waiting on your order, Mr. Ye." the Fourth Elder said calmly. "Right now is exactly when Deceitful Fox’s men are at their most exhausted mentally. If we keep stalling and Deceitful Fox changes their posture—lets everyone except the sentries go rest—then all these days of hard waiting will have been for nothing."
"Tomorrow at first light, full-scale assault." Ye Fan knew they couldn’t drag it out anymore and could only agree with the two Elders’ proposal.
They were all smart men. Even though they were fighting on the same side, in their hearts they still guarded against one another. They just didn’t show it on the surface; all their worries were buried deep inside.
After a night’s rest, dawn of the next day, the attack began.
The Ghost combat unit split into several elements, forming an extremely powerful battle formation that closed in over the castle. There was no need to say much about the Ghost unit’s combat strength—their assault was brutally fierce, advancing like machines, slowly pushing forward and harvesting enemy lives.
Hunting Team 4, Hunting Team 5, Hunting Team 7 and Hunting Team 10—four fully manned, peak‑condition Hunting Teams—lunged like lions, tearing into the castle.
Hunting Team 8 and Hunting Team 13 weren’t idle either; they kept bringing their firepower to bear in a violent charge.
On the castle side, one firepoint after another was exposed. Whether hidden nests or obvious emplacements, they all spewed out a cold, raging killing intent.
"Da-da-da!" Bullet after bullet screamed out of gun barrels, filling the air as they tore toward their targets.
For a time the space between was choked with countless rounds. As the bullets leapt and howled, they threw up sprays of blood, ripped through flesh, and the sounds of lives being taken echoed from different corners.
Deceitful Fox’s men went berserk, rolling out all kinds of destructive weapons to join the slaughter.
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!" Countless laser beams shot out, boring through the air to slam into enemy flesh and devour lives—that was the killing power of the Laser Gun unleashed.
This was a battle destined to decide life and death; Deceitful Fox’s people were fighting like madmen.
Sky Net’s people were fighting just as desperately.
At a set distance, the two sides kept trading fire, the scenes of firepower duels playing out again and again. Whether it was the destructive power of heavy weapons or the terror of precision shooting, it was all on display.
At long range, both sides stayed well covered, exploiting their own strengths as much as possible to wipe out the enemy.
Deceitful Fox’s men were using defense as offense, but Sky Net’s troops kept pressing closer.
Once Deceitful Fox’s people came into close contact with Sky Net’s, it would turn into hand‑to‑hand combat—and in close‑quarters fighting, Deceitful Fox’s side was no match; their losses would be catastrophic.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!!" Heads being punched through by bullets played out again and again. With red and white matter spraying, people kept dying, kept dropping.
"Puff! Puff! Puff!!" Scenes of bullets rending bodies, shattering bone, unfolded in all their horror.
Deceitful Fox’s men kept dying.
Sky Net’s men kept dying as well.
This was a blood-soaked battle; both sides were using their lives to defend their own dignity.
Butchering the other side so they themselves could live became the only theme.
Amid the blood and fire, Sky Net’s troops gradually broke through the castle’s outer defenses. In the savage fighting, the castle kept falling piece by piece.
Facing Sky Net’s thunderclap offensive, Deceitful Fox’s men also fought recklessly for their lives; the battle was unspeakably brutal.
Blood drenched every corner of the space.
Shouts of killing boomed like crashing thunder.
