Chapter 1166: Fire Phoenix’s Negotiation
Chapter 1166: Fire Phoenix’s Negotiation
The Third Elder and Fourth Elder sat across from each other, both looking grim."If I had known this was going to happen today, I wouldn’t have probed like this and ended up suffering and losing face." The Third Elder lamented.
Thinking of his weakness in front of Ye Fan made him feel like he had lost all his dignity as the Third Elder.
"Ye Fan is easy to get along with, as long as you don’t provoke him. If you anger him, he is indeed very unpredictable and will do some unexpected and frightening things." The Fourth Elder began to speak.
"I have witnessed the dominance of the Terminator. It’s quite a challenge for you to supervise the Terminator; it’s indeed a tough responsibility." The Third Elder said to the Fourth Elder sincerely, feeling a sense of shared sentiment.
"It’s not difficult, as long as we don’t anger Mr. Ye, everything is fine. Mr. Ye is also very polite." The Fourth Elder said.
He was speaking truthfully; the Ghost Squad’s eight masters’ deaths were self-inflicted due to the Third Elder’s actions.
"In fact, what I did today was intentional; it was a decision made after consulting with the Elders." The Third Elder revealed without any hesitation.
"A decision of the organization? Why?" The Fourth Elder was puzzled.
"Think about it, having the Terminator working under our coercion, surely he harbors immense rage and resentment. Just because of the hostage situation, he has no choice but to follow the organization’s orders. If he could tolerate the probing without a reason, it would indicate he has bigger plans or connections with Fire Phoenix. This resulted in significant losses for the Hunting Team. Through probing, we discerned he truly harbors anger. As long as we maintain a polite facade, nothing will happen, thus avoiding suspicion." The Third Elder said.
"So that’s how it is. It’s no wonder you insisted on having the eight Ghost Squad leaders provoke Mr. Ye!" The Fourth Elder suddenly realized, "Considering this, the probing was indeed necessary. A Terminator holding grudges without a strong counterattack to express dissatisfaction would be more suspicious. If he truly retaliates, it only shows his dissatisfaction with the organization and his powerlessness, forcing him to vent his fury by eliminating a few people to salvage the fragile self-respect of being a strong person."
The Fourth Elder sighed with regret: "It’s just a pity for the eight Ghost Squad leaders who died just like that."
"Actually, those eight were not the leaders of the Ghost Squad, just ordinary members. Since I dared to have them test the Terminator, I had already prepared to sacrifice a few people. How dare I have Ghost Squad leaders come forward? Losing a Ghost Squad leader is a troublesome affair. It’s exhausting just to select one, let alone eight. You know, the Ghost Squad consists entirely of ruthless desperados who don’t care about regulations." The Third Elder laughed.
"In that case, I am relieved. My main regret was that point. As long as the Ghost Squad is unharmed, that’s what’s most important." The Fourth Elder understood the difficulty of managing the Ghost Squad, where each leader held significant importance, confirmed through numerous battles. Without leaders, the Ghost Squad would become scattered.
"Next, it’s about contacting Fire Phoenix for cooperation and then putting an all-out effort into exterminating Deceitful Fox." The Third Elder said.
"Eliminating Deceitful Fox is crucial and urgent, but with Deceitful Fox hiding, how can we annihilate him?" The Fourth Elder asked.
"Fire Phoenix will surely know Deceitful Fox’s hiding location. With that information, we can wipe out Deceitful Fox. We will sign a non-aggression pact with Fire Phoenix, and I believe we can win Fire Phoenix’s trust." The Third Elder promised confidently.
"The organization wants to coexist with Fire Phoenix?" The Fourth Elder was skeptical.
"How could that be? It’s a temporary utilization relationship. Once Deceitful Fox is eliminated, we’ll go after Fire Phoenix. Fire Phoenix caused severe losses to the Hunting Team. Fire Phoenix cannot be allowed to live." The Third Elder smiled sinisterly.
"I will immediately send someone to contact Fire Phoenix." The Fourth Elder took charge.
Understanding the Third Elder’s intentions, Ye Fan and Fire Phoenix naturally formulated a new strategy.
When the Fourth Elder’s men reached out to Fire Phoenix, Fire Phoenix readily agreed.
That day at noon, outside Blood Wolf Base, the Third Elder and Fourth Elder arrived with their men.
Fire Phoenix and a group of people also appeared.
The people from both camps stopped, waiting from a distance, and Fire Phoenix, the Third Elder, and the Fourth Elder met.
"Fire Phoenix, great to finally meet you." The Third Elder greeted.
"I’ve long heard of the name Fire Phoenix; today, I see that it’s truly extraordinary." The Fourth Elder greeted with a smile.
"If you have anything to say, get to the point. I’m not afraid of you. Sky Net has been so tyrannical lately, daring to target Blood Wolf Base, cutting off my livelihood. Why are you negotiating instead of attacking? What is there to discuss?" Fire Phoenix laughed coldly.
"Constant fighting is harmful; let’s consider turning swords into plowshares. It benefits everyone." The Third Elder smiled slyly.
"Making peace through prosperity is the way to survival?" The Fourth Elder smiled broadly, "Sky Net aims to be the Underworld’s top leader. But whether it’s Fire Phoenix or the Butcher, neither is an enemy of Sky Net; they should be allies instead."
"Speak quickly and directly; I don’t have the time for your drivel." Fire Phoenix impatiently said.
"Fire Phoenix speaks directly, then I’ll be straight with you. We know you and the Butcher have already turned against Deceitful Fox. Had we known this earlier, we wouldn’t have attacked Blood Wolf Base. It’s just we found out too late." The Third Elder said, "Although we realized it late, causing some unhappiness between you and Sky Net, we are sincere in resolving the discomfort. We hope you consider it seriously."
"Well done on gathering intel, even knowing such confidential matters." Fire Phoenix smiled bitterly.
"It was accidentally discovered, purely luck." The Fourth Elder smiled.
"So you’re here to resolve grievances. I’ve noted it. In the future, let’s stay out of each other’s way; if conflicts break out, I am no pushover. I’d love to see what Sky Net is capable of." Fire Phoenix said.
"Resolving grievances is one of our goals, the other is we want to cooperate with you." The Third Elder said.
"Cooperate? Ha, did I hear that right? What’s there to cooperate on between us?" Fire Phoenix sneered.
"Since you accepted our proposal and sat in front of us, you surely want to know our true intention." The Third Elder said meaningfully.
