Chapter 423
Chapter 423
"Then once a week," Catherine replied, feigning seriousness.
"I waited twenty-seven years just for you, Catherine!" the man said with mock solemnity.
Catherine burst into laughter, breaking the intense atmosphere. "Alright, let's change the subject. This topic isn't worth discussing."
Blake took advantage of her laughter, stepped around her, and in one swift motion, pinned her down.
Catherine was startled into lying down and realized escape was impossible.
"Wh-what are you doing?" Catherine's eyes widened, already knowing the answer.
Indeed, careless words come with a price.
Catherine, exhausted and weak, pointed at Blake's retreating figure toward the bathroom and gritted her teeth. "So unfair, making me move on top for half an hour!"
Blake's sturdy figure froze in the bathroom doorway, then erupted into hearty, self-satisfied laughter.
Hearing his deep laughter, Catherine grew even angrier.
When Blake emerged, wearing only a towel, he saw Catherine in new pajamas, sitting on the bed with a discontented look.
"Isn't trying something new more fun?" Blake smirked.
Catherine's expression faltered, but upon reflection, she realized she hadn't lost out and had indeed enjoyed herself.
"I'm hungry, order me some food!" Catherine was genuinely hungry, having barely eaten on the plane.
"Sure, I'll order all your favorite dishes!" His deep, melodious voice held a note of affection.
His words stirred warmth in Catherine's heart. Given his care, she decided not to hold a grudge about the earlier incident.
The food and wine arrived. Catherine, fresh from a shower in a white robe with damp hair, prepared to blow-dry it.
Blake waited in the living room. Turning around, he saw her half-wet hair enhancing her delicate features. He stood up and approached.
"Let me help you!" Blake hadn't dried her hair in a while but remembered how soft and fragrant it was, so he volunteered.
Catherine was delighted to have help.
Standing before him without heels, she reached only his shoulder, making it convenient for him to dry her hair.
Blake ran his fingers through her hair, turned on the blow dryer, and they stood in the bathroom, the warm air creating a cozy atmosphere.
After drying her hair, Blake led her to the dining area.
"Why did you order wine?" Catherine enjoyed a drink before bed, a habit from her past for inspiration.
"It's for you!" Blake remembered her preference and would always order a bottle for her.
"Thank you, sweetheart." Catherine was touched by his thoughtfulness.
Blake poured her half a glass. "You can get drunk with me, but not with other men!"
Catherine, noting his domineering demand, immediately agreed. "Of course, I don't drink much anyway, and the atmosphere with others isn't like this!"
Blake's lips curled in satisfaction.
Reflecting on pursuing Catherine, Blake felt it had been a tough journey.
Before her, he saw women as mere playthings who would come at a beckoning finger, so he kept them at bay.
His mother's influence had left him distrustful of women. But Catherine changed his view.
He realized women vary—one type comes easily, while another might not despite sincere efforts.
"What are you thinking?" Catherine, sipping wine, noticed his gaze and smiled, her heart fluttering.
Blake, realizing he was lost in her eyes, smiled. "Just thinking I should cherish you since I finally got you!"
Catherine chuckled. "That doesn't sound like you."
Blake raised an eyebrow. "Why? Do you think I'm unreliable?"
Catherine, wary of provoking him, explained.
"Based on your past personality—you were so arrogant and nonchalant about relationships."
Blake was surprised. "When did I not take relationships seriously? I've always been serious with you."
Catherine, recalling, couldn't find fault. "You're right, you're the most serious man I've met!"
Blake's expression eased.
