Chapter 387
Chapter 387
Third Person's POV
"Her fear of having kids and marriage comes from her mom. Asking her mom to talk to her would definitely backfire," Benjamin said with a bitter smile.
Cedrick instantly thought of that stubborn and snobbish lady. Yeah, her personality could definitely leave a psychological shadow on a kid.
The office fell into silence. Clearly, these two guys who were always decisive in business were at a loss when it came to women's stuff. They seemed clumsy and lost their usual sharpness.
"Has Eda decided she doesn't want the baby?" Cedrick asked after a while.
A heavy look crossed Benjamin's face. "Yeah, she asked me if she could not have it, and I just blurted out 'yes' without thinking."
Cedrick was speechless.
It seemed that when it came to the woman you loved, everyone could lose their head.
"What should I do? I feel like I haven't been honest with her. I lied. I actually really like kids," Benjamin's face showed a hint of confusion.
He buried his face in his hands and mumbled, "When I saw Blake's two kids, I was so envious. I thought how happy it would be to have two cute kids like that someday. Now that my love life is perfect, I can't have kids."
Cedrick couldn't think of a solution either.
"How about I talk to Eda?" Whenever it came to his brother, Cedrick would always try to find a way out.
Even though he knew his words might not work, it was better than seeing Benjamin in pain.
Benjamin shook his head quickly. "No, no, Cedrick, don't go to her. Let me talk to her myself."
He didn't want Cedrick to step in because he was like an elder. Eda might feel pressured. So he decided to handle it himself.
Cedrick nodded. "Alright, you should talk to her about how cute kids are and what life with a baby would be like. I believe as a woman, she might be easily moved."
Benjamin gave a wry smile. "I hope she's just an ordinary woman. If she's not, she might not be moved at all."
Cedrick just shrugged, showing he was out of ideas.
Eda was walking alone on the busy street. She wanted to go shopping because spending money usually cheered women up.
But after buying a few things, she realized she still felt down. That urge to vomit came back. She had to squat down by the roadside and threw up.
A few guys came over to ask if she was okay, which startled her. She quickly turned and went into a café.
Once inside, she ordered a glass of ice water because cold stuff usually soothed her stomach.
But when the waiter brought the drink, Eda stared at the floating ice cubes in the glass and hesitated to pick it up.
That was strange. She was usually decisive about everything.
Then, a parent came in with a little girl. The girl had two little braids and a thick fringe covering her forehead, showing only a pair of big, crystal-clear eyes. She was super cute.
Eda stared at the girl and thought, if the baby in her belly was a girl, would she grow up to be as pretty and adorable as this little one?
No, no, no, what was she thinking? She needed to stick to her decision.
Eda quickly took a sip of the drink but choked because she drank too fast and started coughing.
The little girl beside her looked over, blinked her big eyes, and asked curiously, "Excuse me, do you have a cold?"
"I'm fine. Just drank too fast and choked," Eda smiled at the girl.
The girl smiled back. Her mom paid the bill, took the packed stuff, and left with the little girl.
Eda stared at her drink but didn't take another sip.
It seemed like everywhere she looked, she saw kids now that she knew she was pregnant.
She used to not notice so many moms with their kids on the streets or in the mall. But now, it seemed like there were lots of them, chatting and walking with their friends while holding or carrying their kids.
"They're so great." Eda couldn't help but mutter to herself. She thought about how other women talked about having kids like it was no big deal. Why did it feel like such a huge thing to her?
Eda sighed. She felt her thoughts getting all jumbled again.
Everyone has their own troubles, she realized.***
Leo brought Sunny back to his place again. Sunny just silently followed him home, even though she felt a little helpless. She thought she was too much of a pushover.
Once inside, Sunny stood at the door.
Leo took off his coat and threw it on the sofa. When he turned around and saw her standing there, he raised an eyebrow and asked, "What's up?"
"I want to go back," Sunny said in a low voice.
"Go back where?" Leo's deep eyes narrowed a bit.
"To my own home," Sunny tried to sound more determined.
"Still mad?" Leo looked down at her with his long legs crossed. "Don't want to stay?"
Sunny shook her head. "No, I don't."
