Chapter 749: We need this kind of trust
Chris then told him in a passionate tone, "The last floor will be the only one where we can experience large battles. We need to finish this trial no matter what. Only by experiencing the battles on the last floor will we be able to prepare ourselves for the upcoming war. Don’t you think so?"
Julian sighed and asked him, "Are they really ready for this? They are not like you, who have fought at the frontier for so long. What we will experience on the last floor would be a huge blow for them. Maybe we should wait one or two more days before going there."
Chris shook his head and told him, "They are all ready to give their lives to protect our universe. Look at us; we are from seven different worlds, but we all fight for the same cause. We want to be useful in this war, and only by preparing ourselves to fight large battles can we do that. We don’t have two more days to prepare them; every second counts now."
Julian looked at him and said honestly, "You should be our leader. You were born for this; trust me."
"Me?" Chris looked at him, confused. He thought Julian would be mad at him for speaking to him like that, even though he believed in every word he had just said.
"Of course! My role as a teacher or master is more than enough for me. I’ve already told you that I don’t like to fight, but this time I can’t ignore the threat to our universe. Therefore, I have agreed to train all of you to be able to contribute in this war, just as you said."
Chris shook his head and replied, "As our teacher, you are our leader. Everyone would trust you blindly, and to win a battle, we need this kind of trust. Maybe one day I will be a leader under our King’s orders, but not today. Right now, we all need you to guide us."
He added, as Julian seemed to ponder his words, "I’m very serious and sincere. Be our leader for our future battles, for the war!"
Julian ran a hand through his hair and said, "I was serious too! But I understand your points, so let’s proceed this way for now. We still need to defeat two God-level 3 warriors in 50 minutes to move to the last floor."
After a few more minutes, everyone finally rejoined them, feeling refreshed after their brief pause. Their spirits were high, and they were ready to battle until the end.
As both Chris and Julian would need to use spells to restrain the God-level 3 warriors, the other mages in their group would provide arrows and balls of energy to enable the fighters to execute their combined attacks.
It would be a true test for them, as they were still learning to use the particles all around them to form spells. Julian had been teaching them how to do it, but beyond a radius of 100 meters, it was really difficult for them to create spells like this.
With only four mages for six fighters, even if each of them succeeded in creating spells, some of the fighters wouldn’t receive one. Therefore, they were all prepared to use their Trinium weapons.
Coordinating during battle was challenging, so the mages would create spells within a zone around the fighters, and those fighters closest to the spells would utilize them. That’s why this time, their Trinium weapons would be very useful.
They had also been training with their Trinium weapons, as they could launch very powerful spells using them. To infuse those spells with their chakra, they needed to channel it directly into the weapons while the spell was being created. This was quite draining on their chakra, and another downside was that it took more time overall than using the spells that the mages were creating, making them easy targets while wielding their weapons.
However, in their current situation, the weapons were perfect. As Julian and Chris kept the God-level 3 warriors busy, the others would have the time to use them.
Once everyone was ready, Julian released the two God-level 3 warriors, and Chris immediately attacked one of them. They divided their strength as Chris’s attack pushed the two God-level 3 warriors apart.
Julian chose not only to restrain the warrior but also to attack him with colored talisman papers. He continued to use the lightning particles to create chains around the warrior, which greatly reduced his speed and mobility. Then, he conjured plenty of water balls that the fighters could catch and send toward the enemy after infusing their chakra into them.
Julian’s group was composed of the weaker fighters, but thanks to Julian’s excellent control over the particles around them and inside the talisman papers, they took less than 30 minutes to defeat the holographic God-level 3 warrior. The fighters on his side had to rotate to drink legendary-grade healing potions, as each of the warrior attacks that touched them brought them close to death; but thankfully, no one died. Meanwhile, the two mages in their group had to get closer to the God-level 3 warrior to create spells for the fighters to use.
The battle was intense, and with Julian providing enough water balls, along with the other spells from the mages, the fighters ultimately didn’t need to use their Trinium weapons.
Julian didn’t think this was a good thing, as in large battles, fighters couldn’t rely solely on the mages. In their next fight, he needed to prepare them better to use their weapons, as they had never done so even in the dungeons.
Chris’s group took a little more time to defeat their opponent since Chris couldn’t provide the fighters with projectiles to hit him. He could only focus on restraining the warrior’s movements and doing his best to protect his teammates.
Thus, Yelena and Alexander had no choice but to use their Trinium weapons to kill their opponent.
