Chapter 71: Taught and trained to believe in science!
Earlier, Chu Miao had dragged Tian Hua over to the forest, saying that Xiao Shen was in there. However, as they advanced deeper and deeper, Chu Miao’s brows furrowed more and more.
BANG!
There was suddenly a loud sound like the shooting of a gun, startling the birds and making them fly off from their nests in the tree tops. Tian Hua was also startled as she jumped up and let out a yelp. "Ah! What was that??"
Chu Miao’s frown turned even deeper as her face darkened. She could clearly feel great magic fluctuations coming from the area in front of them, and, unmistakably, both Xiao Shen’s aura and that of the high quality mana stone were also coming from that direction. Her voice turned grave and she shook her head. "It’s trouble."
"Eh? What trouble?" Tian Hua raised a brow in confusion.
"Ahaha, it’s getting late. It’s best we go back, little junior sister Tian Hua!" Chu Miao suddenly changed the topic and said with a smile.
"Ah? But it’s still afternoon..." Tian Hua raised her small head to look up at the sky. Then, she widened her eyes.
F*ck! What the hell is that?!
A purple beam suddenly shot out of the sky, heading for the location right in front of them!
Tian Hua blinked twice and rubbed her eyes. She turned her head and looked at Chu Miao. "Did you see that, elder sister?"
"We really should start going back... Little junior sister Tian Hua." Chu Miao’s face had turned even more grave. Every Arcanist knew what it meant to have a purple energy beam fall from the sky. It meant that a Warlock was nearby.
And, not just any Warlock. A Warlock of, at least, the Second Level True Arcanist rank!
That beam was the link between worlds that allowed evil gods to bestow their power on warlocks, and the purple one belonged to an especially vile evil goddess that delighted in deranged bloodshed and wanton murder.
"Ah? What is going on?!" Tian Hua was very confused.
"Some really, really bad people are nearby." Chu Miao lowered her voice. "I’ll try my best to get us out of here!"
Running into a Warlock was almost always bad news, as, more often than not, they were power hungry murder hobos who would kill someone for the fun of it.
Chu Miao had been the one to bring little junior sister Tian Hua into the forest, and it was her duty to get her out!
"What do you mean?!" Tian Hua also powered her voice. She did not understand what was going on in the slightest.
"No time to explain!" Chu Miao said as she reached out into her spatial magic treasure, drawing out a small bottle.
"Ah!!" Tian Hua’s eyes widened in shock and surprise. She blinked hard and even took off her glasses to rub her eyes.
What the f*ck is this?
How the f*ck is this possible?!
Am I seeing things, or did this elder sister just open up a space crack out of thin air?!
Chu Miao shook the bottle in her hand and sighed in displeasure. "Tsk, unexpectedly it bas decayed to this extent!"
Like all magical items, a Witch’s potions and herbs also had shelf lives. However, the law of decay of magical items was rather strange. Unlike one would have thought, the weaker the magical treasure, the longer its lifespan and vice versa.
Powerful magical treasures could only last for a few dozen years, while weak ones could last hundreds of years!
For example, her spatial magic treasure had only been forged some thirty or so years ago, and, yet, it had already declined to the point that she could no longer store living things within it. However, the flying broom that she was using earlier had been passed down in her family for several hundred generations!
"It can still last a few minutes!" Chu Miao said as she unscrewed the cap and sprinkled what seemed to be a mixture of starlight and moondust around them.
And as for why it seemed to be a mixture of starlight and moondust, those were the two things that would come to mind upon seeing it.
Anyways, the content of the small bottle in Chu Miao’s possession was precisely a strong magical treasure. It’s shelf life was far inferior to that of a weak one, and she had been with it for almost forty years already!
Normally, when one sprinkled the material within, it would have the same effect as casting a high level invisibility spell that would allow one to go about unseen, but now, it only made their clothes transparent.
"Eek!" Tian Hua’s small hands were quick to cover her embarrassing places and she shot Chu Miao a glare. "What the hell is going on?!"
Chu Miao looked at Tian Hua’s chest and an aggrieved look briefly appeared on her face. She shook her head and sighed. "My invisibility magical treasure is expired! Now it only works on non living things!"
That makes sense...
Tian Hua looked down at her petite figure. She could still feel her clothes, but could see right through them until her fair white skin was visible. Then she felt the urge to facepalm.
The f*ck! How does any of this make sense?!
She looked at Chu Miao with an exasperated expression that had shock, surprise and confusion mixed into it.
"What is going on?! How are you capable of doing this?!!"
"My name is Chu Miao, " Chu Miao had a serious Express on her face. She turned her head to look at Tian Hua and placed her hands behind her back as she answered. "And I’m a First Level Lay Arcanist rank Witch from the Chu clan. Yes, I’m a Witch. A real witch."
She slightly released some of her mana and caused a slight pressure to descend upon Tian Hua.
The sight would have looked rather cool and overbearing, if only her clothes were not currently see through!
"A Witch? A real Witch??" Tian Hua widened her eyes in shock and surprise.
How could it be?
She was someone who had gone through nine years of compulsory education, three years of high school, and almost two years of university.
In all these years, she had been taught and trained to believe in science.
How could things like witches exist?
