My Life In A Fantasy, Women-Dominated World

Chapter 171: Ask Them

Chapter 171: Ask Them

Whoever said that size does not matter should reconsider.

It absolutely did.

Just the sight of an infinitely larger monster made the mushfolks almost pee themselves in fright.

This tribe, city or tiny nest, whatever you may call it, was much different than the rest.

The residents here didn’t come swinging with the weapons and attacking methods. No.

They ran.

This wasn’t night and they weren’t running just to escape a fate worse than death like those rangers... No, these mushfolks were simply running from the sight of Aaron.

Their infrastructure appeared to be much, much more refined and developed than any other tribe that Aaron had visited.

The mushroom buildings seemed to be interconnected, small plant fibers and ropes were going around their exterior, acting as primitive elevators.

On the ground, Aaron could see smaller bugs and creatures being used as livestock, tied by thick ropes and pulling mushroom carriages after themselves.

To Aaron it didn’t look like a simple mushfolk city but a human medieval town with humans replaced by mushfolks.

And even their habits seemed to replicate the human instincts... to run.

Flee from the danger without a care about their elder, city, town and whatever else.

Objectively, Aaron couldn’t blame them. In his opinion too, it was better to escape rather than fight a losing battle.

Cities could be built again but life once lost is gone forever...

But that ideology suited more for humans and creatures who had only one life. For these mushfolks, they could be born again after dying, at least that’s what the venom elder said.

Aaron couldn’t trust her words fully, as it very well could be that she was bluffing just to prove that killing them is useless.

But whatever the truth was, he couldn’t care less. It was better for him that they weren’t buzzing around him and attacking him.

He waddled over to the central, largest mushroom building in the city, tearing off its roof as he looked inside.

However the view that he found was much different than his expectations.

There was only a throne and a huge courtroom inside, no gold shroom farm and definitely no blue beads that could allow him to talk to the mushfolks.

’Fuckkk, are they smart enough to hide the gold shroom farm in some inconspicuous place?’ he thought in irritation.

Near his ear, he could hear Alyssa speaking in her language which he couldn’t understand at all.

The translation bead’s effects seem to have completely worn off, leaving him incapable of understanding her words.

’Let’s see if it’s in some other house.’ Aaron thought with a wicked smirk.

He was planning to spare such a smart and harmless tribe, but here they were, forcing his hands to destroy everything they had built.

On his way towards the giant mushroom building, he had made sure not to step onto any buildings or destroy their creation.

It was his way of saying ’I won’t harm you, just let me take what I came here for.’

But after finding no fruits for his thoughtfulness, he curled his hand into a fist, punching into the ground of the giant building.

After all, it was a cliche place to hide valuables.

But alas, his fist failed to discover any underground storage or secret bunker that could’ve been storing those shrooms.

His fist connected with the solid ground, sending a wince of pain down his body while the ground trembled slightly.

Aaron stood back up, pulling off the roofs of other houses, tossing them in a distance with little to no regard as he checked all the houses bordering the elder’s building.

Nada.

Nothing. He found nothing.

There was the same old grass beds and boring mushroom furniture inside, something he had little to no use for.

Aaron also found some smaller buildings with boards outside them, which he recognized as shops.

But after uprooting some, he only found the trade items, which ranged from wheels, food, and even uniquely shaped rocks.

’Could it be on the edge?’ He mused, it could be possible since the elder must have been smart enough to anticipate the thieves to assume the gold shrooms to be near the center, which was much easier to guard and protect.

Aaron also thought about the idea to simply leave this tribe be and hunt for another tribe which may have the gold shrooms hidden in the elder’s building like normal.

But alas, he couldn’t do that.

Alyssa was important for relaying the directions, and he couldn’t talk to her until he found another translation bead or something similar.

However, thinking about Alyssa, he got another idea as he squinted at the escaping mushfolks.

Most of them had already escaped the city’s bounds, running slightly farther as a precaution as they watched him root apart their buildings and toss their roofs to such far distances that they would take hours to bring them back.

Still, they did nothing except watch.

He was trying to find a unique mushfolk, something like the stealth or venom elder, something that can tell him who the fuck among this tribe was the elder.

Alas, he couldn’t find one.

But he didn’t let that disappoint him, as he walked towards the gathering of mushfolks, ground trembling slightly with each step until he reached them.

Most of them chose to flee when they saw him coming, but their tiny feets weren’t able to cover much distance when compared to Aaron who crossed their entire city with 3 mere steps.

He caught up to the running mushfolks, grabbing a couple of the oldest mushfolks he could find before walking backwards to where he came from.

He broke into a sprint, escaping from the mushfolk’s vision before throwing the caught mushfolks onto a decently tall rock.

They tried to run the moment he placed them down, but a single flick from his finger tossed them back to where he placed them.

This process had to be repeated many times until they quietly stood at their place, not wanting to get beaten up again and again.

Once quietened, Aaron reached to his shoulder and took out Alyssa.

"Ask them about the bead."

He said calmly.
