Inner Turmoil

Inner Turmoil

(3rd person P.O.V)

Erika woke up with a groan, feeling a terrible headache. As she tried to massage her temples, she realized that Logan was sleeping in a chair beside her bed while holding her hand tightly. Erika couldn't help but feel guilty as she looked at him, noticing the worry and exhaustion on his face. He had lost weight and looked haggard, clearly having been through a lot while she was unconscious.

Erika couldn't help but blame herself for causing Logan so much worry and stress. She knew she had been selfish, putting her own needs and desires ahead of his well-being. But at the same time, Erika knew what Erika had done was necessary. She had to find Victor and bring him to justice, no matter the cost.

As she looked around the room, Erika realized she was in a hospital. She couldn't remember how she had ended up there or what had happened to her. The last thing she could recall was meditating in her space, trying to locate Victor's whereabouts.

Erika tried to reach out to her demon, hoping for some answers, but she started to panic after multiple attempts. She couldn't get any response, no matter how hard she tried. What had happened to her demon? Was it injured, or worse, did I lose her? Erika's heart raced with fear and anxiety as she tried to piece together the events that had led to her hospitalization.

As Logan woke up to the sound of Erika's voice, he immediately sat up in his chair, his heart racing with worry. He looked at Erika, relieved to see that she was awake but concerned by the pain and worry on her face.

"Erika, you're awake. Are you okay? Are you hurt?" Logan asked, his voice laced with worry as he scanned her body for any signs of injury.

Erika shook her head and tried to sit up, wincing at the pain in her chest. "I'm okay, just a little sore. But I tried to contact Mika, and she's not responding. Can you ask Mikael to check on her? I'm getting worried about her. What if I've lost her?" Erika said, her voice laced with fear and desperation.

Logan's face fell at her words, and he closed his eyes, trying to compose himself. When he opened them again, there were tears in his eyes. "If you were terrified of losing her, you would have thought about her before going through that procedure. Did you even consider what would happen if you lost her, or what I would do if I lost her?" Logan asked, his voice laced with hurt and anger.

Erika's heart sank at the pain in Logan's voice, and she reached out to him, tears streaming down her face. "I'm sorry, Logan. I didn't mean to hurt you or worry you. I didn't mean to risk Mika or our bond. I just wanted to help protect our people and discover what Victor planned to do. I'm so sorry."

Logan took a deep breath and reached out to hug Erika, his anger melting away as he felt her pain and remorse. "It's okay, Erika. I understand why you did it. I wish you had told me or included me in your plans. We're in this together, remember?"

Erika nodded and hugged Logan, feeling grateful for his understanding and support. "I know, and I promise to include you in the future. But please, can you ask Mikael to check on Mika? I'm just so worried about her."

Logan nodded and stood up, walking to the bedside table to pour a glass of water for Erika. He handed it to her with a gentle smile before kissing her forehead. "Of course, I'll tell Mikael to get in touch with her. Don't worry. Everything will be fine. Maybe she couldn't get in touch with you because you guys had exhausted yourself and become tired and weak." Logan said and sat beside her. Erika nodded and drank the water, feeling a sense of relief and hope wash over her.

Logan took the glass of water from Erika's hand and placed it on the bedside table before closing his eyes and entering a mind-link with his inner demon. Erika watched him with concern, wondering what was going on. After a few moments, Logan opened his eyes and looked at her with a relieved expression.

"Mika's okay. She couldn't answer your call because she exhausted all of her energy trying to help you return to your body as quickly as possible," Logan explained. "It will take some time for her to recover and be able to contact you again."

Just as he finished speaking, the doctor walked into the room, followed by a nurse. He checked Erika's vital signs and mixed a glass of lukewarm water and glucose powder for her to drink.

"There's no need to worry, Erika. You need to rest and not force yourself to do any work. It's important for you to eat bland food first and allow your body to adjust before eating normal meals again," the doctor advised.

Logan nodded and stood up, saying he would inform the rest of the family that Erika was awake and get fresh before bringing his work to the hospital so that he could stay by her side and help her recover. The nurse gave Erika a sponge bath as Logan left the room.

As soon as Erika finished her meal, other family members came into the hospital to see her. Her children ran up to her, hugging her tightly and asking about her health. They scolded her for being careless, and Erika couldn't help but feel guilty for worrying them.

"Mom, you've been unconscious for almost a week. Do you know how worried we were about you, especially Dad?" Sofia said, shaking her head in disbelief. "He didn't leave your side for a second, and he blackmailed the doctor by saying that if you didn't wake up soon, the doctor would be bedridden in the hospital bed. We all had to walk on eggshells around him."

Erika's eyes widened in shock as she heard she had been unconscious for a week. She looked at Zack, silently asking him for more information. Zack nodded and filled her in on what had happened.

"After you passed out, Arthur called to check on your health and asked us to call him as soon as you woke up. As per your order, every supernatural kingdom leader had declared lockdown in their territory and that we had to postpone the council meeting because you were in no condition to attend it," Zack explained.

"Can you call Arthur and tell him to come and visit me as soon as possible? Also, tell him to come with all the information we have gathered by now," Erika asks Zack.

"Didn't you hear what the doctor told you when he came to check on you? You are not allowed to do any kind of work, Erika. You need to rest and recover your health," Logan said while walking inside the hospital room with a bunch of documents in his hand.

Erika sat up on her bed and crossed her arm over her chest. She knew she had to speak her mind, no matter how much it would hurt. "Logan, we can't delay this any longer. The longer we wait, the more powerful Victor becomes. And the harder it will be for us to deal with him. We need to act now before it's too late."

Logan knew Erika was right, but he couldn't shake the feeling of helplessness that washed over him. He clenched his fist and promised himself that he would make Victor pay for what he had done.

But even thinking of revenge, he knew he had to be practical. He couldn't put Erika in danger, not when she was still recovering from her exhaustion. "Fine," he said, sighing. "But you have to promise me that you'll tell me if you start to feel tired. And that you'll rest if you feel tired. I can't have you pushing yourself too hard."

Erika nodded, a small smile on her face. "I promise. And I'm not planning on working myself to exhaustion. I'll talk to you and the others, give some instructions and then rest. But we can't afford to delay any longer. The sooner we take action, the better." Zack takes the phone out of his pocket and walks out of the room.

After some time, he returned and informed Erika that Arthur would come in the evening to talk with her. She spends some more time with her family for some time and falls asleep after having lunch.
