Chapter 11 The Cultivation of a Dry-Cooked Person

Chapter 11 The Cultivation of a Dry-Cooked Person

Chen Bo spoke casually, but Zhou Lingyan sensed something else in his words.

Last night was physically exhausting, especially with Xu Yueqing.

I only ate half a meal during the day, then packed my bags and left.

The slight pleasure she felt at Xu Yueqing's humiliation suddenly became mixed with a hint of complexity.

She sat down opposite Chen Bo, resting her chin on her hand as she looked at him: "Chen Bo, you're not lying to me, are you? You used to have such a big appetite?"

"It depends." Chen Bo leaned back in his chair and rubbed his stomach. "I eat more when I'm in a good mood, and even more when I'm in a bad mood."

Zhou Lingyan was amused, and the complicated emotions from before dissipated: "By the way, let me tell you something funny, Xu Yueqing is coming over tonight."

Chen Bo gestured for her to continue.

Zhou Lingyan's eyes lit up as he vividly described how Xu Yueqing discovered he was living there, how he tried to remain calm, how she teased him at the dinner table, and how he finally retaliated by saying Chen Bo was "useful."

When Xu Yueqing mentioned "Those who have used it know how good it is," she laughed so hard she almost fell over.

"You didn't see her expression. She was clearly furious, but she pretended to be all high and mighty, like she didn't care. It was hilarious!" Zhou Lingyan laughed heartily.

When she finished laughing, she noticed that Chen Bo's face remained expressionless throughout. He was neither amused by the scene she described nor showed any anger or embarrassment at being judged by Xu Yueqing like an object.

"Hey," Zhou Lingyan nudged his shin with her toe, "why aren't you reacting? Xu Yueqing treats you like an object, saying she's used you and that you're good, aren't you angry?"

Chen Bo then looked up at her, his eyes calm and expressionless: "Angry? Why are you angry?"

"She looks down on you! She treats you like a tool!"

"What she said is true," Chen Bo said calmly. "Last night, I was indeed just a useful tool to her, as for now..."

He said sincerely, "I don't have any feelings for her as a person, I'm just lusting after her body. I can't help it, her face and figure are really amazing."

Zhou Lingyan was stunned.

She had imagined all sorts of reactions from Chen Bo—angry, heartbroken, forced smiles, or outright denial.

I never imagined it would be this kind of cold calm and straightforwardness.

"And what about me?" she asked.

Chen Bo looked at her intently for several seconds, making Zhou Lingyan feel uncomfortable and want to look away, before he slowly said, "As for you, besides being greedy..."

His gaze swept unabashedly over the neckline of her nightgown and her long legs. Only when Zhou Lingyan glared at him did he continue with a smile, "There's still some affection, isn't there? When I was kicked out and homeless, you picked me up, gave me shelter from the wind and rain, and even provided this top-notch recording studio. Although your motives weren't pure, I got the benefits. I'll remember that."

"At least you have some conscience." She snorted, but the corners of her mouth couldn't help but curl upwards.

"So," Chen Bo stood up and began clearing the dishes, "Miss Zhou, since I've been so considerate, please leave more leftovers next time. I almost didn't get enough to eat today."

Zhou Lingyan: "..."

Is this guy a reincarnation of the Taotie?

"Don't rush to clear the table," she stood up as well. "Come on, come with me to the second-floor balcony for some tea to help with digestion."

Chen Bo looked at her: "Drinking tea at this hour?"

"Yeah," Zhou Lingyan blinked, her smile carrying a familiar mischievous glint, "The balcony has a great view, the night breeze is comfortable, and it's perfect for enjoying the night view."

Chen Bo understood instantly.

The real purpose of seeing the night view is to get someone across the street to look over.

He smiled and didn't expose him: "Alright, I'll go along with whatever the host says."

The master bedroom on the second floor connects to a spacious curved balcony, furnished with a rattan coffee table and two comfortable recliners.

It offers a perfect view of the windows of the main rooms on the second floor of Xu Yueqing's villa across the street.

Zhou Lingyan solemnly brewed a pot of flower and fruit tea and poured two cups.

She changed into a more battle-ready silk nightgown, champagne-colored, with a deep V-neck and a slit in the skirt, revealing her snow-white skin on the side of her legs when she sat down.

Chen Bo held a teacup, leaned back in his recliner, and looked at the white villa across the street.

The light in Xu Yueqing's bedroom was still on, and warm yellow light seeped through the curtains.

"She's still awake." Zhou Lingyan had also noticed, her voice tinged with suppressed excitement. "Do you think she might be watching us too?"

"Maybe." Chen Bo took a sip of tea; it tasted sweet and refreshing, with a floral and fruity aroma.

"Shall we move the chairs closer?" Zhou Lingyan suggested, her eyes shining brightly.

Chen Bo readily agreed and moved his recliner closer to Zhou Lingyan. He figured it would be foolish not to take advantage of such a good deal.

The distance between the two instantly shortened, their arms almost touching.

From the other side, this posture definitely qualifies as intimate and close.

Zhou Lingyan even deliberately turned to the side, propped her chin up, and faced Chen Bo, making a gesture of listening attentively or laughing.

The night breeze ruffled the stray hairs on her cheeks, and her profile was soft and beautiful in the warm light, her smile radiant.

She was very immersed in her performance.

Chen Bo went along with it, but inwardly he found it both amusing and a little boring.

The battles between women can sometimes be endearingly childish.

But he doesn't mind being a prop; after all, he's beholden to those who feed him, and he's not weak-kneed to stay with them. No, his legs aren't weak yet.

From last night until this morning, his legs never gave way; he's in top form.

Not long after, the lights in the villa across the street flickered a few times, as if someone was impatiently switching them on and off.

Immediately afterwards, the curtains in Xu Yueqing's bedroom were suddenly and completely pulled open!

Xu Yueqing, wearing a white nightgown, appeared at the window. Across the asphalt road and in the deep darkness of the night, her expression was obscured, but her stiff posture spoke volumes about her emotions.

Zhou Lingyan was so excited she almost jumped off the recliner. She restrained herself and leaned back even more lazily, raising her hand and casually placing it on Chen Bo's forearm, which was resting on the armrest.

It feels slightly cool to the touch.

Chen Bo's muscles tensed for a moment, but he didn't move.

Across from them, Xu Yueqing's figure seemed to sway slightly.

The next second, Chen Bo's phone, which was on the coffee table next to him, started vibrating wildly.

The name flashing on the screen was none other than "Yue Qing".

Zhou Lingyan saw it too, her eyes curving into crescents, sparkling.

Chen Bo looked at the jumping heart symbol, picked up his phone, answered the call, and pressed speakerphone.

Before he could speak, Xu Yueqing's voice, trembling and filled with suppressed anger, burst out: "Chen Bo, what do you mean? What are you and Zhou Lingyan doing?"

The sound was very loud and exceptionally clear on the quiet balcony. Not only could Zhou Lingyan next to him hear it clearly, but Xu Yueqing across the street could probably hear it as well.

Chen Bo held the phone a little further away, waiting for her questioning to subside before slowly retorting, "Teacher Xu, didn't you say that after giving me the money and resources, I shouldn't contact you again? Why are you still calling me?"

There was an instant silence on the other end of the phone.

Xu Yueqing's figure on the opposite side seemed to be frozen in time, completely still.

A few seconds later, she turned around abruptly and disappeared from the balcony.

Immediately afterwards, the bedroom light went out with a "snap".

The whole world seemed to fall silent as that lamp went out.

Chen Bo hung up the phone and tossed it back onto the coffee table.

He picked up the now-cold tea and took a big gulp.

It's too sweet, it's cloyingly sweet.

"That was so satisfying, so incredibly satisfying!" Zhou Lingyan sat up, rubbing her aching cheeks, her eyes shining like they were filled with stars. "Chen Bo, what you just said was absolutely devastating! Did you see that? She turned off the lights! She's probably too angry to sleep tonight, hahaha!"

Chen Bo didn't laugh.

He looked at the villa across the street, now shrouded in darkness, and felt nothing.

"Miss Zhou," he put down his teacup and stood up, "the show's over, can I go back to sleep now? I still have to work on the song tomorrow."

Zhou Lingyan was in a great mood and waved, "Go on, go on! Goodnight, Teacher Chen! You did an excellent job tonight, you get extra points!"

Chen Bo turned and walked into the room.

Zhou Lingyan sat alone on the balcony, looking at the dark villa across the way, and laughed silently for a while.

The smug satisfaction of triumphing in my heart, like the rich aroma of floral and fruity tea in the cup, spread out in wisps and strands.

Meanwhile, in the villa across the street, Xu Yueqing huddled on the cold floor in the darkness, the light from her phone screen illuminating her pale face and red eyes.

The words, "Why are you still calling me?", were like an ice-cold knife, repeatedly cutting into her heart.

pain.

Aching and swelling.

She was overwhelmed by boundless regret and shame.

She finally realized clearly that Chen Bo, who used to have eyes only for her and cherish her like a precious gem, was truly gone.

She pushed him away herself.

She pushed him to the side of her most hated nemesis.
