CHAPTER 140- SHE INSANE
CHAPTER 140- SHE INSANE
While all those battles were taking place, at the top of the abbey, another confrontation was about to begin.
Following Kurdes, Hikiri violently called out to him:
— You know, from the very beginning, you’re really the person I distrust the most. And since I know you were in the prison with Tony, you’re going to tell me where I can find him.
Showing a certain carelessness toward Hikiri’s words, Kurdes replied:
— You’ve already started following me, so keep going. You’ll run into my sister, who must have enjoyed torturing Tony for those four days. But be prepared, the fight will be hard.
— What do you mean by fight? Are you planning to kill your sister? Hikiri asked.
— Of course. It’s the only thing keeping me on this island. And tell me, what rank are you? Kurdes asked.
— Rank eight, like your sister. But I assume that if you’re going to fight her, then you’re also rank eight, Hikiri exclaimed.
— That’s right. But I have one last question: do you know how to use aether? Kurdes asked.
— No… let’s say Tony was supposed to teach us, but he didn’t, Hikiri replied.
Stunned, Kurdes gave him several looks before heading toward the summit of the abbey.
Hikiri followed him without saying a word.

A few moments later, several tremors shook the abbey.
Hikiri tried to look downward but was stopped by Kurdes’s voice:
— What are you doing? This is a battlefield. It’s normal to feel tremors, and deaths. Your friends must be fighting Liara’s envoys, maybe Rezu or the twin brothers. I doubt Vito will take part in this battle, since he has always hated Liara.
Hikiri looked at Kurdes, who was now speaking to himself.
— Is it a habit of yours to talk to yourself? Hikiri asked.
Suddenly, Kurdes’s eyebrows tightened slightly.
— Let’s say that when you spend the first twenty years of your life with someone like Liara, talking to yourself helps you keep your sanity and build a strong mind.
…………
After a few moments, they arrived in front of a door.
Before opening it, Kurdes turned toward Hikiri and declared:
— I advise you not to fall for her tricks. You can get angry, explode with rage…
Pointing at his own head, Kurdes continued:
— But always keep a cold head, a cold logic. And above all, don’t get in my way.
— Don’t talk nonsense. I’m far from weak, Hikiri said as he watched Kurdes open the door wide.
The interior was rather simple, nothing particularly remarkable.
Except for Liara, sitting in a lotus position in the middle of the room, still wearing that smile that never left her lips.
Opening her eyes, she looked at Kurdes for a few seconds before turning her gaze to Hikiri.
— Well then, Kurdes… I thought you would want to fight me alone. But you brought something with you, Liara declared, openly belittling Hikiri.
— Let me stop you right there. I don’t care what you call me. I came to get my friend whom you tortured, Hikiri shouted.
Pretending to count on her fingers, Liara said in a sarcastic tone:
— Which one? The one I burned alive? The one whose organs I tore out and shoved into his mouth, healing him again and again just to restart the cycle? Or Tony…
Seeing Hikiri react at Tony’s name, Liara adopted a mocking, falsely sorrowful tone:
— The one whose legs I sawed off, arms severed, mentally tortured. But the best part was his screams—so sweet. Unfortunately for me, hidden deep inside him, there was only a madman.
She paused before continuing:
— I cut off all four of his limbs and sent him to the bottom of the island, where you saw what he was doing. Imagine the suffering he must have endured before… what? Being killed by the attacks of his own friends…
— Hahahahahaha… Hoho hoho hoho hoho hoho!
Bursting into laughter, Liara never lost her smile.
She observed Hikiri, who stared at her with hatred and disgust.
For the first time in a long while, Hikiri felt his body trembling with rage.
— You… I’m not just going to kill you. I’m going to skin you alive, he roared.
— What are you waiting for? Come on, slug, Liara said loudly as she grabbed her saber.
As expected, she’s not just insane. She’s also addicted to combat, Kurdes thought inwardly, mocking Hikiri’s stupidity.
