My crazy Cultivation Path

CHAPTER 139- NO JOY

CHAPTER 139- NO JOY

Rezu only moved his fingers; he seemed almost motionless, yet his smile kept widening.

“Come on… show me more.”

He whispered.

Aconé had clearly understood that, for some reason, his blades of fire kept deviating left and right just in front of Rezu.

Damn it, how is he doing this? Even if he had created a water barrier, it shouldn’t be able to change their direction.

Aconé thought.

He kept dodging the now incessant attacks coming from Rezu.

The spikes kept moving faster and faster, charging at Aconé from both sides at the same time.

Aconé tried to slice them, but Rezu returned them to their original form so that the moment Aconé’s blade passed through, they regained a liquid shape.

It was a perfect technique for long-range combat and a safe way to imprison one’s opponent.

No other spike pierced him; instead, they merely grazed him, leaving small cuts appearing across his body.

“I don’t know how you’re doing this, but I’m going to have to give more.”

Aconé said, letting his rank-eight speed drive his rapid movements.

But Rezu was also rank eight, and the spikes had no trouble keeping up with him.

“Give up, my dear… from what I can see, you have no hidden weapons left. Or else die like a miserable human.”

Rezu said.

Suddenly, Aconé came to a stop. What followed was an explosion.

Boom.

His giant fist of fire exploded, plunging the hall into flames.

With a withdrawing gesture of his hand, Rezu called the water spikes back to himself and fused them together, forming a solid wall of water in front of him.

Boom.

Within the flames, Aconé observed Rezu’s barrier: it was certain, this was not a barrier. But how could he explain the fact that his blades were being deflected without a barrier?

Then he saw the wall vibrate and move in a flowing, shifting motion.

Aconé immediately understood how Rezu was deflecting his attacks.

You animal… there was water in front of you, but moving like quicksand. That’s what deflected my blades.

Aconé’s veins turned red.

“You—I’ll slice you apart and burn you alive.”

Rezu tried to see what was happening within the flames when he saw a blade of fire crash against his barrier.

He heard Aconé shout,

“It might not be possible to destroy quicksand with a single attack… but a barrier, unless it’s invincible, can be destroyed.”

Blade rain.

Rezu remained surprised as he watched the multitude of fire blades crash down onto his barrier.

“Well then, every fight has its share of difficulties.”

He said, trying to locate Aconé hidden within the flames.

Suddenly, he heard cracks forming in his barrier.

Suddenly, as if he had lost his mind, he burst into rough laughter. His body trembled—perhaps from fear or excitement, only he knew.

“So this is the sensation when excitement and fear of battle blend together… magnificent. I thank you, darling; thanks to you, a new path is opening before me. You’re right—hurting children, what an embarrassing pastime—but I have no intention of stopping with depravity, so…”

As it shattered, the barrier revealed Aconé charging straight at Rezu.

A thin, sharp water lance and around twenty small water blades shaped like knives formed just behind Rezu.

“Accept my gift of depravity in death.”

Rezu finished.

Aconé extended his hand toward the flames floating in the air.

And through his strong will, and his slight authority over fire,

All the flames—no longer yellow but blood-red—compressed into his right hand, forming a long katana.

“Ahh…”

Aconé groaned, feeling the katana burn his hand. Yet he tightened his grip on it.

Raising his hand and then bringing it down, Rezu murmured with a smile,

“True beauty of the Water of Depravity.”

The lance and the thin blades changed color, turning pink, and shot toward Aconé.

Striking vertically, Aconé roared,

“Red Blade!”

Boom.

Cut.

It was astonishing, but the red fire katana instantly destroyed Rezu’s blades.

Swing.

Rezu did not get angry and grabbed the lance to parry Aconé’s katana.

Then Aconé whispered to him,

“Depravity is nothing but a dark practice, a fleeting pleasure. I am not a liberator; your death will give me no joy. Only a brief relief, because I know there are and always will be people like you.”

Click.

The lance parried the katana for only a few moments before being cut cleanly in two—

exactly like Rezu.

His body split in half, Rezu did not lose his smile and spoke a few final words to Aconé,

“My faith: the strongest wins. At least I was able to see water respond to my desires—and discover that pink represents me.”

The next second, red flames mercilessly burned his entire severed body, charring and evaporating every piece of flesh.

Aconé made no gesture of celebration or joy; he simply went to search for the others in silence.
