Chapter 384 384: In Her Mouth
Chapter 384 384: In Her Mouth
***************
~Valerie's POV~
I got back to school before lunch period, but the words King Davion said about my family and my powers wouldn't leave my head. They echoed like whispers in the back of my mind, refusing to fade.
I hadn't asked any more questions after that—honestly, I didn't trust myself to. But Xander, being Xander, decided to take me for a stroll around the gardens before we returned.
He said the fresh air would "help me think clearer," though I suspected it was just his way of making sure I didn't brood too hard.
As if on cue, King Davion's phone rang. He excused himself, and asked for Xander to accompany me.
Well, Xander already planned on doing so in the first place.
"If you don't focus now, you might bump into…" Astra barely cautioned me before I accidentally bumped into someone.
"Oh, sorry. I just um… wasn't looking." I stammered, straightening myself and brushing my hair back from my face.
And then I froze, because it was him.
Ace.
The sharp line of his jaw, that storm brewing in his eyes—it hit me all over again how unfairly good he looked even when brooding.
I tried to sidestep him, but his hand shot out, firm fingers wrapping around my arm.
"Ace, not now, please."
"No, Valerie." His tone was quiet but steady, the kind that made people stop and listen. "You have every right to be vexed. I…" He exhaled, a sound somewhere between a sigh and surrender. "I'm sorry."
That made me stop. Of all things I expected him to say, that wasn't one of them.
"For what I said that day," he continued softly. "I shouldn't have spoken to you that way."
I closed my eyes briefly, then managed a small, practiced smile. "It's okay. You were right."
Ace frowned slightly. "I was?"
I nodded, trying to move past him, but he stepped into my path again, blocking me completely.
"Valerie, no—I wasn't right. I was just…"
"Jealous?"
His silence was the only confirmation I needed. The admission flickered across his face before he nodded slowly.
Ignoring it, I looked into his eyes, wanting to tell him my mind when I noticed the softness in them.
"Yes," he said finally, voice low and rough. "I was jealous. And I took it out on you, even though you didn't deserve it."
"But I did," I murmured. "I didn't set boundaries with Dristan. I let him kiss me."
"I know," Ace replied, his voice dropping an octave, the words burning between us. "But I don't care about that anymore. I love you, Valerie. I can't stop thinking about you—even when I try."
His confession wrapped around me like heat.
Ace closed the gap between us, his warm breath fanning my cheeks as his eyes roamed my face, as if memoising every detail. He stared deep into my eyes like he could see deep in my soul.
His face was so near, I thought he was going to lean in and kiss me.
"I want you," he whispered, the words trembling at the edge of control. "I don't know how the others held back, because I can't. Every second away from you feels like a curse."
His thumb traced the curve of my jaw before cupping my face fully. His touch was gentle, but it sent a shiver racing down my spine.
"Please, forgive me," he said again.
I wanted to—maybe even did—but my mind was elsewhere. On Dominic Harvey. On what I had to do. On the blood that might spill before this mission ended.
"Come."
Ace took my hand and led me to a secluded corner near one of the storage rooms, away from prying eyes.
"Talk to me, Valerie," he urged softly. "Say you forgive me. Let's stop fighting."
We weren't really fighting. I just couldn't afford distractions right now.
"Fine," I said, trying to keep my tone steady. "I accept your apology. Now, if I could just get back to class—"
"No," he interrupted, shaking his head. "You accepted it, but you haven't forgiven me."
I sighed, partly annoyed, partly undone. "Okay, Ace Kaid, I forgive you and I'll—"
I didn't get to finish.
Ace's lips crashed against mine, fierce and hungry, pushing me lightly against the wall.
The world tilted. My hands found his chest instinctively, but instead of pushing him away, my fingers curled into his shirt.
His mouth moved against mine with heat and longing, tasting of desperation and something that felt dangerously close to love.
"Ace…" I breathed, torn between pulling back and melting completely.
He didn't reply—he only pressed closer, his forehead resting against mine, eyes dark and unguarded.
"Tell me you feel it too," he whispered.
And Moon help me… I did. His lips crashed back against mine, his tongue sliding into my mouth, claiming, teasing, tasting and pulling a gasp from deep within me.
The anger I'd clung to melted away like frost under fire.
His hand slipped around my waist, drawing me flush against him until I could feel every beat of his heart against mine.
The world blurred; there was only heat, breath, and the wild, aching rhythm between us.
The sound of footsteps snapped me back.
I turned just as a familiar voice cut through the air. "Well, that didn't take long."
Kai stood a few steps away, his arms crossed, expression unreadable, but his eyes, those emerald green eyes, burned.
Ace instantly stepped back, his jaw tightening. "Kai, this…"
"Oh, it is," Kai interrupted, his tone deceptively calm. "I came looking for Valerie. Guess I found more than I expected."
My heartbeat pounded in my throat, just feeling their alpha aura. Kai's gaze flicked to me, softer for only a moment. "You okay, Val?"
I nodded, unable to speak.
Ace muttered under his breath, "We were just talking."
Kai tilted his head, a slow, dangerous smirk curving his lips. "Funny kind of talking, that."
Before Ace could reply, Kai's hand brushed against mine. His scent wrapped around me, drowning out the lingering taste of Ace's kiss.
"I need to talk to her."
"Then wait your turn, Kai. She and I are discussing."
"By being in her mouth?"
