Chapter 383 383: So Much in Your DNA
Chapter 383 383: So Much in Your DNA
***************
~Valerie's POV~
The next time I opened my eyes, the sight that greeted me was a lovely garden that seemed straight out of this world.
I had no idea where we were, but when I turned, my eyes landed on both father and son. While Xander tried to mask his smile, King Davion did not bother and wore his emotions on his sleeve.
I did not know if knowing about my existence was good for me, but it felt good not having to hide it, especially from him.
"Your Majesty, I…"
King Davion lifted his hand, stopping me from uttering any more words, and before I knew what was happening, he closed the gap between us and hugged me tightly.
There was no need to hide who I was with him.
I figured Xander might have told him. Even if he didn't, I knew it would be hard hiding things from the man whose genes, through his powers, were in me.
I mean, the bond was there. And looking at him felt like staring at my late father.
I melted into his embrace as the tears threatened to overwhelm me, but I prevented it.
Some seconds later, he pulled back and pecked me on the forehead.
Normally, that should have felt awkward, but like I said, it made me want to be so close to him.
"I have so many questions," I began with the first words to escape my lips.
"As you should. And I promise I'll answer them."
My lips pulled back in a smile as I gave a nod. "Firstly, where are we?" My gaze darted past him to our surroundings.
"In the dragon kingdom," King Davion answered without missing a beat or blinking.
"In the what?!"
It was then Xander burst into laughter at my bewilderment and smiled. "You are in my home."
"But school and…"
"Relax. Dad's teleportation is stronger than mine. You'd be taken back soon. He just wants to meet you."
The sparkle in King Davion's eyes felt like the joy of a father when meeting his newbornbaby.
It was bright and beautiful.
"How did you…"
"You look just like your mother."
At that word, sadness and pain overwhelmed me in ways I couldn't fathom, and I lowered my head.
"Thank you, I guess."
I stepped back, pretending to admire the scenery before me, but even that seemed to fail.
"Val," Xander began but stopped.
I did not need to wonder why he did not push when I felt King Davion's presence. "I am sorry; I did not mean to offend you. It's just… You remind me of the good old days."
"I understand."
"I want to say so many words to you too, Valerie, but I do not want to rush or overwhelm you. And better still, I want to provide answers to your secret questions that you may have before we run out of time."
He held my left hand, and I turned to face him.
Even dressed in his navy tuxedo and black fur coat, he still looked regal.
"Oh, don't worry about this if it makes you feel uneasy."
He snapped his free hand, and immediately his outfit changed completely. He was now dressed in a pair of fitted black trousers and a simple violet shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbows, showing off his veins and strong arms.
Before I knew what was happening, he snapped his fingers once more, and then three chairs appeared before us.
King Draco led us to sit—well, technically, me while still holding my left hand.
"What is your first question?"
"My powers." I did not wait a second more.
I had these powers, and I knew nothing about how I got two rather than one like the other heirs.
"They were given to you by the Sage Earth Dragon."
"But I have more than one, Your Maj… Godfather," I corrected myself and immediately watched the mighty Dragon King's lips pull back in a smile.
"Indeed, you have control over fire."
Hearing King Davion affirm it was still as shocking as the first day when I saw it.
"How?"
"When you inherited your father's looks, and mine, you did not just inherit the physical features but the power as well."
I stared at King Davion like he had grown a second head. "Excuse me?"
The disbelief was not lost to him in my tone. How the hell was my father a fire weilder or a dragon when he was a werewolf?
Wasn't it a fact that only the heirs got bestowed powers by the Dragons as a sign of peace and a measure to protect the werewolf race in case another war should occur?
King Davion's eyes turned serious. No longer was that bright smile that could melt a once-cold heart on his face, and I knew he meant business.
I stole a glance at Xaner, hoping he'd laugh, but he too had a serious look on his face.
"Xander?"
"Valerie, you asked, and you need to know the truth. My dad would tell you everything."
I nodded, then returned my attention to the king.
"I know this must be hard for you to accept."
"It is. My father was a werewolf, and so was my mother."
"Yes, but Snow died, and my golden scale was used to save him. I'm sure you were aware of this?"
I gave a small nod.
I recall Storm telling me of the reason why Dad wasn't a fan of calling me Violet, because of Davion.
"I know."
"Well, that gave him my powers. Though he never became a dragon, he had control over fire, making him the first werewolf elemental."
"So…?"
"When the five of you were chosen to bear the dragon's gift, I hid the fact that you could inherit my powers, and that was how you were given the power to control earth."
"So I'm a double elemental werewolf," I said almost in disbelief, but he nodded.
"Well, considering your mom was a witch too, I say having powers is as much in your DNA as being a werewolf, Violet Snow."
