Chapter 1340 - 1167: Back to the Past
Chapter 1340 - 1167: Back to the Past
I’ve never thought about how I could possibly return to the past. Is it really that difficult to go back?
A person’s life is only a few decades long; I’ve lost so much.
After a fierce argument, the two of them ultimately realized that only each other was the best choice, and so they reconciled and held hands again.
In the hospital, they formed the most beautiful scenery. No couple from any family displayed such love. Despite all the hardships and torment they went through in this life, they still managed to stay together, proving that they were truly well-suited for each other.
Zhang Yichen looked at Ran Zhihan, feeling a pang of guilt in his heart. This woman loved him so much, yet he had been cold-hearted enough to doubt her and said such hurtful things, making her so embarrassed. He felt utterly unworthy of being her husband. It was fortunate that they were willing to forgive him and continue living with him, which for him was the best outcome he could hope for. He didn’t dare to wish for anything else in this lifetime, but he was already very happy.
Ran Zhihan smiled sweetly beside him, not noticing her husband’s expression at all. She didn’t realize that after this incident, her husband would cherish her deeply, consulting her on everything. Only then did she understand how right her decision had been from the start. Luckily, she didn’t give up on the man she loved most; otherwise, it would have been her lifelong regret. Where could she find another man like him in this lifetime?
"Zhihan, now that we have reconciled, don’t you think we should take this opportunity to do something significant?" Zhang Yichen, seeing Ran Zhihan’s blank expression after hearing this, knew his dear wife hadn’t quite grasped what he meant. So, he gently touched her head and softly said, "You see, our son is already six years old this year, isn’t he? At six, he surely hopes for a brother or sister to accompany him. If he had a sibling, even if we leave this place in the future or even leave this world, at least there would still be family to stay by his side. Isn’t that the most perfect thing? So you understand what I’m saying, right?"
Upon hearing this, Ran Zhihan’s mind was blown. How could she suddenly contemplate so much at once? They had just reconciled, and now he was talking about giving their son a sibling. What kind of logic was this?
"I don’t understand what you’re trying to say. We just had a fight and only just made up today. How can we just jump into this right away? You’re still on probation, and I haven’t truly forgiven you. Wait until the day I can genuinely forgive you, then you can bring it up again. Now I want to go in and see Grandpa. He’s by himself in the ward, so lonely. I want to keep him company and chat..."
Ran Zhihan said this and turned away, giving Zhang Yichen no chance to respond!
Watching Ran Zhihan’s back, Zhang Yichen felt a flood of emotions.
Why would he ever hurt such an adorable wife and utter words that caused her pain? Was he truly fit to be her husband? If there were another life, he would surely want to be with her again. By then, he would trust her wholeheartedly, never doubting her or suspecting her of betrayal for any reason.
Zhang Yichen chased Ran Zhihan into Old Master Zhang’s ward. When Old Master Zhang saw them walking towards him hand in hand, smiling, he knew the young couple had restored their old peace and reconciled. For Old Master Zhang, this was the greatest news. He cared about fewer things now. As long as he could see his grandson living happily, he would be content. He no longer hoped for his son to return to him. Through this, he realized that no matter what he became, his son would never return. His son had long forgotten him as a father, and his heart held no place for his biological father. So how could he possibly come back home to accompany him just because he’s sick? It was absolutely impossible.
"Have you two made up?" Old Master Zhang asked as soon as he opened his mouth, revealing everything. Everyone could tell he had long seen the conflict between Ran Zhihan and Zhang Yichen, but he chose not to say anything, indirectly reminding them. He knew that if he intervened, they would only drift further apart. A subtle reminder, though seeming careless, made a significant difference!
Lowering her head, Ran Zhihan said to Old Master Zhang, "Grandpa, I’m sorry for making you worry because of our issues. It was our fault. We promise to live well together in the future, never quarreling at the drop of a hat or arguing at every turn, creating cold wars. Caught in between, it’s hardest on you and my son. I’ve come to realize that to love someone means loving all of them, accepting them wholly, not minding every word they say, but caring whether they are sincere with you!
Even though Yichen said many hurtful things during the fight, I don’t blame him. He was cornered. I understand his inner taboos, but I was the one in the wrong. What right do I have to blame anyone else? As long as she’s happy, that’s enough for me. I don’t want much; I just need my family safe and loved ones by my side!
Thank you, Grandpa. If not for your simple reasoning, I wouldn’t have realized my mistakes and how outrageous they were..."
Before Old Master Zhang could speak, Zhang Yichen continued, "Grandpa, I was wrong, too. You have such keen insight and judgment, how could you not know what happened between us? Just one look, and you saw the conflict between us, yet you chose not to comment. I am grateful because you preserved my dignity. You let me understand that a wife is to be cherished and trusted. You’ve taught me that the most important thing between a couple is trust. As long as there’s trust, we can overcome any obstacles. Thank you. We will always be by your side..."
Having feared losing, endured pain, and made life so difficult, why has everything changed to this now?
