Chapter 1075 - 928: Speed of Life and Death

Old Master Zhang said to Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing, "Do you remember when you first got married and I talked to you, how did you respond to me?"

"Um..."

"Let me help you recall!"

"What’s there to be embarrassed about? You’re grown-ups now, are you still shy?" Old Master Zhang really has a sharp tongue, he talks without giving people a chance to breathe. He thinks that only by being like this can he hold his ground in the business world and fend off enemy attacks, because only this way he can protect himself and those he cares about from any harm!

"Dad, you must be mad! How can you say something like that? Can’t you be a bit more tactful?" Zhang Zhentian said to Old Master Zhang.

"Xia Jing, don’t you think I’m right? Since you’ve both chosen each other wholeheartedly, don’t start arguing at every little thing. Do you find it fun to quarrel like this all the time?" Old Master Zhang ignored Zhang Zhentian and turned to Xia Jing, asking, "Love isn’t created through arguments!"

"It’s fun!" Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing answered Old Master Zhang in unison. Old Master Zhang felt speechless at these two; he didn’t know what words were appropriate for his son and daughter-in-law, why did they seem so unreasonable? Fun? Are they just trying to annoy me?

Old Master Zhang was panting heavily, feeling fortunate that his mental fortitude was strong enough, otherwise he would have fainted from anger. Couples like this are truly rare to come by in a century; but why does it have to befall him? How will life continue under the same roof?

"Fine, if you say it’s fun then it’s fun. Just know that I’m saying this first, the next few days you’re not allowed to go out, you’ll stay home to nurture your relationship. I want to hold a grandchild soon. Xia Jing, did Zhentian tell you what I said to him last night?" Old Master Zhang couldn’t be bothered to chit-chat with Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing; he directly asked.

Even though Xia Jing eavesdropped on parts of Old Master Zhang and Zhang Zhentian’s conversation last night, it was still incomplete, as she hadn’t heard the beginning. She shook her head at Old Master Zhang. Zhang Zhentian felt frustrated with Xia Jing’s "honest" gesture, thinking: Why can’t this fool tell a lie? Truly a brainless person.

Xia Jing saw Zhang Zhentian continuously winking at her, stupidly asking, "Zhentian, what’s wrong? Is your eye uncomfortable? Why are you always winking at me?"

When Xia Jing asked this, Zhang Zhentian was dumbfounded, and Old Master Zhang turned to look at Zhang Zhentian.

"Dad, why are you looking at me like that? Can’t I blink my eyes if there’s sand in them?" Zhang Zhentian said and winked at his dad. Old Master Zhang felt an urge to slap Zhang Zhentian.

"Fine, I admit I can’t out-talk you, but I’ve been clear. Even if you really don’t want to live here, you must give me a grandson before you can leave, did you hear me?" Old Master Zhang no longer wanted to speak to Zhang Zhentian. He knew he couldn’t control anything now, just hoped to hold a grandson soon and not let his lifetime efforts go to waste.

"Got it!" Zhang Zhentian replied, looking impatient.

As they watched Old Master Zhang walk away, Xia Jing pulled Zhang Zhentian into the bedroom to establish a few ground rules.

"Zhang Zhentian, let’s establish a few rules now. Whoever breaks one during the marriage has to sleep on the floor for a month, how’s that?" Xia Jing proposed.

It was just what Zhang Zhentian wanted; he didn’t know how to broach this topic with Xia Jing, but now she herself brought it up. Why not agree?

"Okay, you first!"

"First, no leaving early or returning late during the marriage, no affairs, even spiritually; second, no arguing at the drop of a hat during the marriage, and no unfounded suspicion of your wife; third, no matter what happens, we must discuss it together. How do you feel about it?" Xia Jing said to Zhang Zhentian. Zhang Zhentian nodded, feeling he could agree to these conditions.

"Since you agree, I don’t have any issues. Now it’s your turn!"

"Remember, you’re the one who proposed this, hope you don’t regret it!"

Xia Jing laughed coldly and said to Zhang Zhentian, "Funny, would I regret my decisions? Just say what you want!"

"Alright, I’ll say it then. First, no hiding anything between spouses; if the other finds out, they’ll sleep on the floor for a year; second, while nurturing our relationship, no screaming and shouting to avoid disturbing others’ rest; third, if anything happens or anyone approaches you, you must tell your partner, no private meet-ups, especially with the opposite sex! How about mine?"

Initially, Xia Jing felt that Zhang Zhentian was being reasonable, but when she heard the second point, she said, "Isn’t your second point a bit too much?"

"Who was it that just said they wouldn’t regret decisions? Regretting already, huh? Should’ve known it’s better not to say anything..." Zhang Zhentian even used a provocation tactic against Xia Jing.

Upon hearing Zhang Zhentian belittle her, Xia Jing was furious, saying, "Who said I regret it? I agree, who’s afraid of whom?"

"Since you’ve agreed, I’ll be waiting for your good news!" After saying this, Zhang Zhentian turned around and left, leaving Xia Jing puzzled by his mention of awaiting her good news. She didn’t dwell on the hidden meaning, choosing to live in the moment.

What she signed with Zhang Zhentian was unequal; Zhang Zhentian’s conditions targeted Xia Jing, but clueless Xia Jing thought they were randomly proposed, leading to surprising outcomes. She wouldn’t know how much it ultimately took for Zhang Zhentian to let go of his grudges.

Night soon fell, Xia Jing was ready for bed after her nighttime routine, but Zhang Zhentian suddenly said, "Dear, didn’t you forget our second rule from earlier today?"

Thinking about it, Xia Jing inwardly exclaimed, "Oh no," and before she could react, Zhang Zhentian had already begun. That night was turbulent, Xia Jing eventually fell asleep from exhaustion, only for Zhang Zhentian to relent then. In her weak state, Xia Jing was dead asleep.

"Little fool, see if you dare to hide from me again. When you voluntarily clear things up with me, I’ll let you rest well for a night. Otherwise, you’ll just get tortured by me every day!"

"Stop it..." Xia Jing mumbled in her sleep, slipping into yet another round of turmoil. Finally exhausted, Zhang Zhentian hugged Xia Jing and fell asleep, waking naturally the next day! He awoke in the afternoon, with Xia Jing still asleep!

"Do you remember any of this?"
