Chapter 1029: The Farce Concludes
Chapter 1029: The Farce Concludes
Miles Sterling looked a bit fatigued, observing the farce down the hallway, his brow furrowing and his expression growing more displeased. The slightly plump woman wielded her handbag, wildly smashing it around.
The young woman holding the teddy shrank into her husband’s arms, uttering cries of alarm.
The beer-bellied man protected the young woman in his embrace, while the bag with metal corners repeatedly hit his body.
The man reached out to fend it off, causing the plump woman to lose her balance and fall to the ground.
As she braced herself against the wall and tried to stand up, hoping her husband would stand up for her, she suddenly saw her husband moving away to the side.
"President Sterling?" The woman’s husband keenly noticed Miles Sterling’s arrival and, completely ignoring the commotion, headed straight toward him.
Miles also recognized this person as the owner of a building materials company he had discussed cooperation with some time ago.
Before Miles could say anything, the plump woman plopped back down onto the ground, starting to shout, "Honey, they hit me, come help me deal with them!"
The bespectacled middle-aged man had long lost his patience, unable to help but yell at the woman, "Keep quiet!"
The woman pretended not to hear, "They hit me! This shameless couple hit me! Bullying me too much!"
"Sorry for the embarrassment, President Sterling." The bespectacled man finished speaking and turned back to pull the woman up from the ground, admonishing her quietly, "Stop making a scene here, get up!"
"I’m making a scene? Walter Warren, you don’t want to keep living with me!"
The woman then started a fuss with her own husband, completely ignoring the presence of outsiders.
When Miles Sterling saw that half a head peeking out from the door gap, his attention shifted away from this farce.
When Miles arrived to check in this morning, the hotel had already held a small meeting, urging everyone to avoid mistakes and ensure he had a pleasant stay.
So when the hotel manager saw Miles arriving, he hurried forward to apologize, "President Sterling, we’re terribly sorry, there’s a small issue here, we’ll resolve it quickly, please go back to your room to rest."
Miles noticed quite a few residents peeking at their doors, clearly disturbed by the commotion.
The incidents were happening right in front of Vanessa Sterling’s room door, and she was likely also unable to rest because of the noise, which is why she came out to check.
"If you can’t resolve it, call the police, take them all to the station for a talk, don’t disturb everyone here."
"President Sterling is right." The manager was also keen on keeping things quiet, hence had refrained from calling the police.
Thinking it was just a minor conflict that could be resolved through mediation, they hadn’t expected to encounter two stubborn individuals.
"Everyone, please come downstairs with me."
President Warren hurriedly apologized, "Let’s put this behind us, it’s not really a big deal, we’re sorry for the trouble caused. President Sterling, perhaps we could have a meal together another day, today we’re truly sorry for this embarrassment."
"What do you mean by putting it behind us?!" The plump woman was clearly unwilling to let go, "Walter Warren, are you a man? Your wife is being bullied, and you take it lying down? Who does President Sterling think he is, controlling everything, can he control me? Today I..."
"Enough, stop talking! Let’s go!" President Warren dragged the woman away.
The woman holding the teddy felt she had won the battle, showing a triumphant smile, muttering, "I thought she had more capability, turns out she’s just a shrew!"
"Alright, you should speak less as well. I’ve told you countless times not to bring the dog out, but you never listened! Without a leash too! This dog has caused so many problems already!"
"He’s our son, does it make sense to keep our son on a leash? Why are you siding with others over your own family?!"
"Alright, alright, let’s just go back to the room!"
The farce concluded, and the spectators closed their doors and went back to their rooms.
"President Sterling, we’re really sorry for letting you..."
Miles Sterling glanced once more at the door that hadn’t yet closed, interrupting the manager, "Just get on with your work."
"...Alright, President Sterling, just let us know if you need anything later."
He fixed his gaze on that door, meeting the eyes peeking through the gap.
At this moment, Vanessa Sterling seemed to have snapped back to reality, showing a look of surprise, instinctively retreating into the room. Just as she was about to shut the door, she heard Miles Sterling say, "Wait."
