Chapter 422: There Was Something Wrong with This Woman
Chapter 422: There Was Something Wrong with This Woman
After finishing the video call with Margaret.
Hilla turned around, looked at Halle on her already bulging belly, smiled slightly, and said, "Is it very hard?"
Halle shook her head. This was her second child with Horton. Although she felt a bit more tired than when having Emily, she felt very happy.
Looking at Hilla’s happy and distressed expression, Halle said carelessly, "You know how it feels like to be pregnant."
Hilla curled her lips, got up, and touched Halle’s belly. "It has been a while since I was pregnant. I felt like I was about to forget, and I’m just curious."
"Then just have another child next year. You won’t be curious then."
Hearing Halle’s teasing words, Hilla pouted slightly and whispered, "I don’t want it."
Her two sons had been driving her crazy, even though Orlenna was helping her.
The kids couldn’t run fast, yet they kept themselves busy every day. The most annoying thing was that they liked to fight.
"You don’t want it, but you are curious."
Halle didn’t care much. She was tired after coaxing Emily to sleep.
Her pregnancy was fine. But she had to take care of Emily.
Although there were servants at home. Yet Halle believed that a mother’s role was not to be replaced by anyone.
Halle lay on the bed and felt her stomach roll. Uncomfortable as she was, she couldn’t help laughing, "Horton said this child is very active."
Hilla looked at Halle’s smiling face and moved closer to her.
"Halle, do you wish it to be a boy or a girl?"
Halle thought for a moment and smiled, "Boy, so the babies’ gender will match. But I like it the same regardless of the gender since it’s my child."
Then she burst into laughter again.
She still remembered the pain when she gave birth to Emily. She did not care about the gender of the baby at all. For a mother, being able to give birth safely was the most important thing.
When Emily was born, genders were no longer important.
"Then wouldn’t I have to give birth to two daughters to make the babies’ gender match?"
Hilla curled her lips, which made Halle laugh. "Didn’t you say that you wouldn’t give
birth?"
"I was just saying it. You and Margaret are both focused on giving birth. I don’t mind joining."
Hilla stuck out her tongue mischievously.
Now that the work at the studio was getting busier and busier. Hilla had already taken on most of the work. And Halle had to concentrate on her pregnancy.
Even if Halle wanted to work, Horton wouldn’t let her.
She was retrained by the child.
But that didn’t mean she wasn’t happy under the restraint.
"Why does Margaret suddenly want a child?"
Halle asked as she suddenly recalled Margaret’s thing.
She remembered that a while ago, Margaret was strongly against the idea of having a baby.
Women are really fickle.
Hilla smiled. "Maybe she was infected by you!"
Even Hilla kind of wanted to have another child. Maybe autumn was a season for producing children.
And after the late autumn, winter came.
It was quicker than everyone had expected.
It had only been two months, yet it was already frozen.
One day, Hilla accompanied Halle to the hospital for a checkup. Looking at Halle’s increasingly heavy belly, Hilla frowned with worry.
"There is someone at home taking care of Emily. Don’t worry about her. Also, the doctor said that your blood sugar is a little high. Don’t forget to take the..."
"Alright, alright, my little housekeeper. I remember everything you said. Don’t worry, I’ll be careful."
Halle felt a little resigned. They treated her too attentively, both Horton and Hilla.
Halle was starting to feel annoyed.
"Halle, you are too careless about yourself. What if..."
"Don’t curse me. Me and my baby, we are perfectly fine, okay?"
Halle interrupted Hilla with a smile. She looked up and saw the man wearing a white coat and gold-rimmed glasses looking at her gently. She blushed a little and walked over, smiling.
"Halle, should I leave first?"
Hilla whispered, couldn’t help snickering when she saw Halle glaring at her in embarrassment.
Horton saw them and walked forward. His gaze fell on Halle. "I have a meeting later," said he.
As he spoke, he looked at Hilla again. The messages were obvious.
Hilla pursed her lips and said, "Don’t worry, I will send Halle home safe and sound."
Halle glared at Hilla in embarrassment and turned to Horton. "I will take care of myself. Don’t worry about me."
As a doctor, Horton’s work was full of uncertainties. Sometimes, he even had surgeries late at night.
Halle knew that Horton was worried about her, so she would ask Hilla to accompany her during this time.
She just didn’t want to be a burden to Horton so that he could focus on working.
On the way back, Hilla received a call from Riya.
Hilla told Riya their location, feeling slightly weird.
Returning home, Hilla and Halle saw Riya appear downstairs.
"Aren’t you busy with the blind date recently? Why do you have the time to come over?" Hilla teased.
She couldn’t help it when she saw Riya.
Recently, Riya had been trapped in Far City by the Marley family and forced to attend blind dates.
Riya pursed her lips and looked at Halle’s belly. She sighed, "It’s already so big. You’re about to give birth!"
Halle smiled. "There are still more than two months left. Don’t worry."
"Oh! Let’s get in first."
Riya said listlessly. Hilla felt something was wrong, yet she helped Halle up the stairs first.
Halle’s waist would hurt if she stood for too long.
Having settled Halle down, Hilla asked Riya if she would like some coffee.
Riya shook her head. "A glass of milk, please."
Hilla felt kind of surprised. She poured her a glass of milk obediently.
Riya didn’t drink it immediately. Instead, she looked at Halle and Hilla and curdled her lips, her eyes red.
Seeing that, Hilla was worried.
She took a tissue and wiped the tears on Riya’s face.
And said softly, "What’s wrong? Who dares to bully you?"
Even if she didn’t want to go on a blind date, Riya shouldn’t have such a big reaction, right? How could Riya let someone make her suffer?
Riya took the tissue from Hilla and held it tightly in her palm. She lowered her head and didn’t speak for a while.
Hilla was about to speak but was stopped by Halle. She had no choice but to sit back down and wait for Riya to calm down.
"I’m pregnant!" Riya suddenly said.
Hilla nodded and was stunned when she realized what she had just heard.
"Pregnant? When did this happen?"
"Isn’t this too sudden? Whose child is it?"
Riya did not answer her. She gritted her teeth and said, "Stefan has a girlfriend."
"But if it wasn’t me. How am I supposed to be calm?" Riya thought.
...
"Stefan has a girlfriend!"
Hilla was stunned for a few seconds before she realized what had happened. "The child is Mr. Key’s."
"It should be!" she thought.
Looking at Riya, Hilla’s expression changed slightly. She lowered her head as well, muttered with some annoyance, "Who else could it be if not him?"
Hilla heaved a sigh of relief. It was good that it was.
However, Riya should be in River City with Stefan. Something must have happened.
"Mr. Key’s girlfriend, isn’t that you?"
Hilla had always thought that Riya and Stefan were in a relationship.
Riya frowned and snorted angrily. "I don’t want to be his girlfriend."
Hilla thought, "if you don’t want to be his girlfriend, why are you pregnant with his child?"
Upon seeing this, Halle asked in a soft voice, "Is there a misunderstanding? Since Mr. Key is the father of the child, he should not be irresponsible."
They knew that Stefan was reticent. However, they believed that he was devoted to Riya. Otherwise, he would have been married long ago.
"How is he not? I think he is."
Riya said unhappily. Hilla looked at Halle worriedly when she saw how angry Riya was.
"Halle, do you think Mr. Key changed his mind?"
After so many years, Stefan’s affection should have melted an iceberg. But Riya did not seem to feel it.
Hilla had always thought they were couples, but she wasn’t sure now.
Hilla was confused.
"I do not know."
Halle shook her head. She knew little about Stefan and had hardly met him before. It wasn’t easy for her to judge.
Seeing Riya’s sad look, Hilla asked worriedly, "If Mr. Key changed his mind, then the child in your belly..."
"The child is mine. It has nothing to do with him."
Hearing Riya’s curt reply, Hilla was speechless for a moment.
After all, he had diligently contributed a sperm. So, it has something to do with him.> Hilla thought. "It’s better to call Mr. Key and make things clear." After some hesitation, Hilla decided to call Stefan. But Riya stopped her. "Don’t even bother! Anyway, I don’t want anything from him. I won’t marry him. The child belongs to me only." Hilla thought, "Why are you so angry if you don’t want to marry him?" "I think Mr. Key won’t change his mind easily. There must be a misunderstanding." "Yes, he would have done it years ago if he wants to!" Halle nodded, but she was interrupted by Riya with a sad expression. "I don’t care if he changed his mind or not. I can have a boyfriend too. Even if I have a child, I’m still popular." Riya gritted her teeth, looking persisted. Hilla could not help but say, "What happened? Tell us. Haven’t you been together all these days? How could he suddenly have a girlfriend?" Hilla was curious. Riya pursed her lips. She seemed a little hesitant but also a little embarrassed. After a moment of silence, she muttered, "Yes, they met each other during a blind date two days ago." "Blind date?" Hilla frowned. Stefan was about the same age as Bruce. He was indeed not young. The Key family was definitely anxious, not to mention that Stefan was the only son. He must have a child. Even the shareholders would give Stefan a lot of pressure. After all, there would be turmoil in the Key group without the existence of an heir. "Why would Mr. Key go on blind dates?" Hilla felt that Stefan had been with Riya recently, so he should not have accepted the blind date. "Did you ask Mr. Key to go?" Riya choked for a moment. Then, she slowly said, "I don’t want to marry him. Naturally, I won’t waste his time. We should both see other people. Maybe we can meet the right person." Riya sounded reasonable. When Halle heard this, she couldn’t help but frown and say, "Did you go on a blind date too?" That explained a lot. Stefan should have been able to resist the pressure from the Key family. Yet Riya’s indifference was what made him most depressed. The woman he liked did not put him in her heart at all. After persisting for so many years, he would be more or less shaken. "I did, but I didn’t accept anyone." Riya gritted her teeth, feeling wrong. "I just went to see the people. But he hung out with her date several times. Today, they even went to choose the ring." After Riya finished speaking, the depression and frustration in her heart suddenly surged out. All those negative feelings seemed to break through all at once. She was unable to remain calm. "They’re going to get married!" After saying that, Riya felt torn apart. "But today, I found that I’m pregnant." The more she spoke, the more annoyed she became. When she was pregnant, she found out that her man was choosing the ring with another woman. It was simply a great humiliation. Hilla listened to her in a daze, not knowing what to say. If Riya had listened to my advice, she would have been married long ago. However, Riya had said a lot. I have to say something.> Hilla thought. She looked at Halle for help. Halle was gentler. Riya should be willing to listen to her. Halle pursed her lips and said softly, "If you don’t like Mr. Key, it’s good to be free from each other. But the child in your belly, are you going to raise him alone?" Riya never thought that Halle would suggest this. She was stunned. She looked at Halle and asked with some certainty, "Am, am I going to break up with Stefan?" Halle smiled. "You have never accepted him. How do you break up with him?" "It’s just to terminate some ambiguous relationship. This is good for both you and Stefan. After all, you can choose to be not married. The Marley family can take care of you. But Mr. Key can’t stay single forever." Stefan was the only son. It was only a matter of time before he married and had children. The older he was, the more he could not afford to delay. Riya was stunned for a moment. She felt that Halle was right. Since she didn’t like and didn’t want to marry him, why did she still have to entangle with this man? But she couldn’t reconcile at the thought of what she saw in the jewelry store. Stefan and his date looked so match. "He was the one who provoked me first. He was the one who made me pregnant. Why should he marry someone else as he wishes?" Riya thought to herself.
