Chapter 401: Lucky Dog
Chapter 401: Lucky Dog
...
It was already the night on the next day when Margaret woke up.
Silence reigned the ward. The light lit it up.
Margaret frowned and slightly moved her fingers.
Looking at the empty room, she felt depressed at the thought of having received an operation.
Men were good for nothing. How could Julian not be here to wait for her to wake up? A marriage without love could not last long.
As she was about to press the call bell at the bedside, the door suddenly opened.
Orlenna came in first, followed by Hilla, Bruce, and Julian.
"You naughty girl! I’m worrying you. How could you be this after getting married? When you were still a child, we all cherished you the most. At that time, you could eat whatever you liked."
Margaret looked at Orlenna in a daze. She still felt dizzy when she saw Orlenna.
Margaret seemed to be depressed. At that, Hilla immediately comforted Orlenna, "She just woke up and needs more rest. It’s not her fault."
Hilla looked at Margaret worriedly. The Andersons were dumbfounded when they heard that Margaret would receive an operation.
Being elegant and calm, Orlenna was also worried about Margaret.
Hilla didn’t dare to say much along the way to the hospital because she didn’t want to upset Orlenna.
"It’s not her fault. Should we blame the strawberry and watermelon? Did she eat them all?"
Orlenna had been worried for the entire day. When she saw Margaret, she couldn’t control her feelings.
Margaret had been good for the past two years. How could she be sent into the hospital after getting married for just a short time?
Orlenna glanced at Julian.
"It’s my fault. I didn’t take good care of Margaret and worry you."
Julian immediately lowered his head and apologized sincerely.
Only then did Orlenna calm down and turn to Margaret. She scolded, "The Anderson family have treated you too well in the past."
Margaret lowered her head and blushed in embarrassment.
Probably she was the first one to get appendicitis because of eating strawberries.
However, she blamed it on Jessie’s curse.
Jessie had cursed her to be killed by appendicitis. How wicked Jessie was!
"Mom, why are you here?"
Margaret lowered her head and muttered softly. Then she glanced at Julian.
It was true.
She could do nothing to Julian, but Orlenna could!
Margaret had long known that Orlenna was a strong woman.
Although Orlenna was not as domineering as before, she would do anything when necessary.
"If I don’t come to visit you, you will die of illness alone in the hospital!"
Although she seemed to disdain Margaret, she covered Margaret with the quilt. Then she looked coldly at Julian, "Of course, you should take the blame. Margaret is sometimes stupid. However, how could Jessie bully her like that? I accept your apology, but I want to know what you will do with Jessie."
Orlenna glared at Julian.
Orlenna was Julian’s mother-in-law, so she had the right to scold Julian.
Margaret slightly pulled Orlenna’s sleeve and winked at her.
"Mom, I am not stupid."
Then Orlenna rolled her eyes at Margaret.
Margaret shrank back in grievance and said in a low voice, "If I can’t even deal with Jessie. Probably I am really stupid."
Orlenna felt angry again. Before she could say something, Julian immediately said, "Mother is right. It’s my fault. I will deal with Jessie."
Orlenna sneered, "I hope you can handle it properly. I don’t want to risk anyone’s life."
Margaret was stunned. She peeped out from the quilt.
Before she could say anything, Hilla said, "Mom, it’s getting late. Let’s go back to the hotel. I’ll take care of Margaret tonight."
Margaret immediately added, "I need Hilla."
She felt that someone was looking at her. Then Margaret turned to meet Bruce’s gaze and immediately pulled up the quilt, with her eyes looking at Bruce nervously.
She said in a low voice, "I want to talk with Hilla."
Margaret thought, "Bruce, please don’t look at me like that. I just need Hilla for one night."
"She will come back to you tomorrow."
"I’ll stay and take care of Margaret."
Julian said calmly.
Margaret was stunned and immediately shook her head. "No, I just want Hilla."
Then she covered her in the quilt again and dared not to look at them.
Hilla immediately said, "I’ll stay with Margaret. It’s getting late. She just had an operation. If she needs help, I can help her. Both of us are women."
Julian and Margaret were couples. Julian should be the person to stay.
However, Hilla knew that Margaret wanted to tell her something, so she asked the rest of them to leave.
Orlenna sighed, looking at Margaret on the bed, and said, "Have a good rest. Mind yourself."
Margaret nodded obediently.
She dared not to offend Orlenna at all.
Orlenna finally nodded and looked at Bruce, "Let’s back to the hotel."
Bruce turned to Margaret and then slowly nodded in agreement.
"I’ll see you out."
Julian followed Orlenna and left.
There were only Margaret and Hilla in the room. As soon as the door was closed, Margaret immediately grabbed Hilla by hand.
She complained, "You guys finally came to see me. I just escaped from death. I want to go home."
"It doesn’t matter. You will be fine soon. Don’t worry. The doctor said that you can be discharged after two more days of infusion."
Hilla thought that she was upset by the illness, so she comforted her. Margaret pouted, "It’s all because of that bitch Jessie. She cursed me!"
She had suffered great pain from the appendix. At the thought of that, she was close to tears.
How could Jessie curse her? She would never forgive Jessie!
At this, Hilla was slightly stunned and said in surprise, "You said that it was Jessie who let you eat so many fruits?"
Margaret pursed her lips, "No, it wasn’t!"
She had eaten it by herself.
Hilla heaved a sigh of relief. Then she said worriedly, "However, you should not be blamed for Jessie’s suicide. They went too far."
Orlenna and Bruce would not have come to Far City just because of Margaret’s small disease.
They came here because the Jorgansens had blamed Margaret for Jessie’s suicide.
...
"You said that Jessie had committed suicide?"
Margaret was stunned and said surprisingly.
Did Jessie go too far? Margaret had never thought that Jessie would not only provoke her but commit suicide.
Then she thought about it and rolled her eyes in disdain.
"Nothing matters. She will be fine."
Jessie just wanted to make a fuss. Otherwise, how could she be a qualified supporting character?
However, in the love stories she had read, no woman would risk her own life. If Jessie really wanted to die, why did she jump off the building?
Jessie had done it because she wanted the Jorgansens to argue with each other for her sake.
Hilla pursed her lips, "She remains alive, but she shouldn’t have done that. One of Julian’s aunts cherished Jessie most. She might blame it for Julian."
The reason why Hilla had always been against the Jorgansen Family was that its relationships were too complicated.
Everyone would make a fuss for the sake of their interests.
Hilla initially thought that Margaret was from the Anderson family. With the support of Orlenna and Bruce, the Jorgansens would not do anything to Margaret. However, it turned out that she was wrong.
Old habits died hard. A man would not change overnight.
Margaret pretended to be indifferent and snorted, "She just does whatever she wants. I can get divorced with Julian so that I can go back to the Anderson family."
Margaret looked at Hilla with a sad expression. Hilla thought for a while and sighed again.
"Don’t worry. Julian will not abandon you. I believe he could handle it well. He will not get divorced from you for the sake of Jessie. Jessie is merely his step-sister."
"The reason why he married me was because of my identity. Without the support of the Anderson family, Julian could not secure his position of heir."
Margaret rolled her eyes and gruntled against Julian.
Hilla said resignedly, "You should be careful. I’m afraid that someone would trouble Julian for the sake of Jessie. He or she will try to sow discord between you and Julian after you are discharged from the hospital. It will do you two no good if you get divorced."
Someone was hoping that they two got divorced.
"Just for interests."
Margaret seemed to be unhappy. Hilla said in a low voice, "Mother said that you have just gotten married to Julian. The Jorgansens family will naturally cause you trouble. If you want to maintain your marriage, you’d better give birth to a baby soon."
Orlenna had intended to talk to Margaret about this by herself.
However, Orlenna was afraid that Margaret would not follow her advice.
Therefore, Orlenna had asked Hilla to say so.
She had tried to convince Margaret to be nicer to Julian. However, Margaret didn’t take it seriously and always tried to avoid it.
"But I don’t want to have a baby."
Margaret immediately said no and blushed.
She was still young. She didn’t want to be a mother so early.
"Why should I sacrifice myself for Julian’s status in the Jorgansen family? I don’t want to give birth to his child. It was already a grievance to marry him."
Margaret hummed in a low voice. Although Julian sometimes would irritate her, he had been nice to her.
She just felt disappointed because their combination was the result of interest. "Margaret, do you really want to divorce your senior?" Hilla frowned and finally asked.
She hoped that Margaret would gradually change her attitude towards Julian, but it seemed that Margaret still disliked him.
Would they end with divorce?
Margaret hesitated for a moment. She would nod her head immediately before, but she could not say no at this moment.
"But ... but I don’t want to his pawn. It does me no good. How could he sacrifice me?"
Margaret muttered in a low voice, and Hilla looked at her in surprise.
"It will do you good. You and Julian are couples now. You should share the weal and woe. If you get divorced now, the Jorgansen will try to put him down."
Hilla tried her utmost to explain it to Margaret, hoping that she could understand.
"If Julian losses the game, you will not be the winner. You own all his money. If he is poor, it will be impossible for you to go shopping and take the chartered plane to Milan for the fashion show."
"Moreover, Julian’s every penny belongs to your pocket. And you will also be in charge of the Jorgansen Group."
"Don’t you want to be richer than Bruce? If Julian could make more money, Bruce, you will make it. Why not seize this good opportunity?"
Hilla said casually. Margaret’s expression changed slightly. "Did Julian give all his property to me?" Margaret was surprised. She couldn’t believe it.
Was it because she went to the hospital for his sake? He was afraid that Orlenna would blame him, so he gave Margaret all his money.
Hilla nodded, "Not only did he give you his property, but also his shares in the Jorgansen Group. Now you are his boss."
Margaret’s eyes widened.
She was overjoyed. It seemed that she could finally change her status.
Julian was working for her, and she was his boss.
Then she would try hard to crack down on him.
"Hilla, are you telling the truth? Why don’t I know?"
Margaret frowned and still couldn’t believe it.
Hilla said confusedly, "Don’t you know? When he proposed to the Anderson family, he had made those promises. Otherwise, Mother will be unwilling to marry you to him."
"Just think about it. If you get divorced from Julian, it will be not easy for you to meet other men like Julian, who was handsome and generous."
"The most important thing is that he counts on you now. If you don’t want him, I’m afraid he will have to be a tramp. It’s pitiful!"
Hilla said in a low voice and sighed from time to time. The change of Margaret’s expression amused Hilla.
Margaret opened her mouth and was about to say something.
"That’s because Mom loves me. She will choose the right man for me."
As Margaret spoke, she glanced at Hilla, "Did he really give me all the money he had to me?"
Hilla nodded and said, "If you don’t believe what I said, you can ask Bruce and Mother. They are your family, who are unwilling to see you suffer."
Margaret hummed, "Julian bullied me a lot."
However, at the thought of her property of a hundred million dollars, she could not help but curl up her mouth corners. She muttered," I will not get divorced with him
for the sake of money."
Otherwise, Julian would be left for nothing. He would be a poor guy.
