Chapter 361: The Secret
Chapter 361: The Secret
...
Margaret stayed in the Jorgansen family for the whole night, and what she heard was all hypocritical flattery.
She was not as willful as she used to be. This time, she determined to be a well-bred young lady, the wife of the heir of a huge enterprise.
After the meal, Margaret felt exhausted.
The smile almost froze on her face. When she left, Brittany looked at her and said, "I have asked someone to prepare some dishes for Marry. Bring them to her tomorrow."
Marry was Julian’s mother and Margaret’s mother-in -law. They had met less than three times. The last time they met was half a year ago.
Marry liked to quiet places. She lived in a temple on the mountain all year round, and it was said that she wanted to atone for her sins.
Julian didn’t tell her the details, and she had never asked him.
Since they were about to have a wedding in Far City, she had to meet her mother-in-law before the wedding.
After leaving the Jorgansen’s, Margaret sat in the car.
Leaning against the car window, she was not as lively as before, looking like a withered rose.
At the entrance of the old house, a group of people watched the car leave. Someone in the crowd snorted, "Julian had become successful through marrying a good wife."
"That’s right. What kind of status did he have in the past? I didn’t expect that when Marcos met with an accident, he got a bargain instead. He became the heir and married the daughter of the Anderson family. He was so lucky."
"I didn’t expect that he would be the future master of the Jorgansen family."
Jessie followed Sally and listened to them. She pursed her lips and said in a low voice, "If it wasn’t for her identity, how could Julian marry her?"
That was ridiculous.
Speaking of which, if Julian wanted to make a success in the Jorgansen family, he would naturally marry a wife with a good background.
"Anyway, he is so lucky. The Anderson family’s daughter is not someone who can marry easily."
It was said that she had been well protected. There were many people from the aristocratic families who proposed marriage, but she chose Julian.
There were many beautiful women.
However, if a woman was beautiful and could help them achieve meteoric success, it
would be better.
On the car.
Margaret hummed uncomfortably. The next second, her head was grabbed by a big hand and landed on Julian’s shoulder.
"I’ll walk you up when we get home."
Julian’s voice was calm. Margaret couldn’t tell from his expressionless face whether he was angry or not.
Margaret wanted to refuse, but she was too tired. Acting was more tiring than letting her run a long way. Sure enough, she was not good at acting.
It was a wise decision to not step into the show business.
The car drove on the road, leaving only a shadow.
After a while, Margaret’s asked slowly.
"Julian, are you tired?"
She had been here for a whole day and felt uncomfortable.
In his family, everyone only cared about their own interests. None of them truly cared for each other and treated each other as family.
"I’m used to it."
Julian said softly. Margaret raised her head and looked at him seriously. "You must be tired."
The man turned to look at her. It was hard to tell his emotion from his face under the dim light.
Margaret looked into his eyes. It was too dark to see the fluctuations in his eyes. She only said, "Really, I really pity you."
"Sympathy?"
The man’s deep voice slowly sounded, carrying a hint of uncertainty.
As he carefully thought of the word, the corners of his lips suddenly curved up and he leaned forward towards her.
He approached, and the light outside the window illuminated his face.
Margaret looked at him in a daze, and it seemed that stars were shining in his eyes.
He smiled and said, "Margaret, are you unable to differentiate between sympathy and love?"
"What?"
Margaret frowned and was surprised by Julian’s words.
Before she could move away, his arm brushed past her ear and landed directly on the back of the chair behind her. He leaned down and his breath landed on her face.
"You don’t understand what I’m saying. Are you silly?"
There was a burst of faint laughter in the man’s voice. The joy that overflowed from his heart unconsciously magnified the smile on his face.
"Julian, don’t go too far. I don’t understand what you’re saying. You can explain it, but you can’t attack me. Do you think I won’t fight back when I pity you?"
Margaret’s voice was filled with arrogance and unwillingness.
Before she could straighten her body, Julian leaned forward and instantly kissed her.
He took her lips into his control.
The car was closed, and the perfume was heavy. The warmth also swept over in an instant, with the passion for each other.
The car stopped in the courtyard of the villa. The driver quickly got out of the car. He had never seen anyone show affection like this!
In the dark sky, thunder suddenly flashed, and the rainstorm suddenly came, leaving the whole car in the rain.
The heavy rain made the whole car hazy. With the lightning and thunder, the wind blew the trees in the entire city.
The rain seemed to carry a special shadow, making the car in the yard more and more dazed.
After the heavy rain, the air was exceptionally fresh and the night was quiet.
It was as if the entire world had been baptized by the heavy rain.
The moment the car opened, Margaret, who was wrapped in a blanket, shrank her neck and plunged her head into Julian’s arms. She called out in a low voice, "It’s cold."
The night was cold, but their bodies were exceptionally warm.
The rain on the trees was blown away by a gust of wind and a few drops fell lightly into her neck, which made her feel cold.
Margaret sniffled with grievance and said in a low voice, "How can you treat me like that?"
Julian lowered his head and glanced at her. The woman in his arms shrunk like a turtle, her head almost invisible, and she dared to ridicule him.
He covered his coat on Margaret, and through the coat, he could vaguely see the white and tender neck.
There were several wet marks on his grey shirt. He said in a low voice, "I’ll give you a chance to reconsider your words before I enter."
In front of Margaret, Julian had no self-control at all.
The woman in his arms shrank and said in a low voice, "It’s rare to see a man with such good health and stamina like you. I admire you!"
Julian curled his lips and sneered, "How many men have you met?"
...
Margaret and Julian had already gone to the temple on the mountain. Margaret still couldn’t figure out why a wealthy lady lived in such a place.
"Why does your mother live here?"
Margaret could not help but ask as she watched the car get on the ring road.
Why did she move to this place?
The last time she saw Julian’s mother, she was still in the Jorgansen family. It seemed that she rarely came back. When Margaret saw her, Marry’s expression was cold. She was even not warm to Julian.
If Julian hadn’t said that she was his mother, Margaret would have found it hard to believe.
How could a mother be so cold?
But it was also good. Marry lived on the mountain and did not care about Julian. They would have fewer conflicts.
Julian’s expression was still cold. It was unknown if he was concentrating on driving or if he really did not care.
"Maybe she just wanted to live here."
What did he mean by that?
Margaret frowned. As soon as they returned to the Jorgansen family, she felt that something was wrong with Julian.
The car soon arrived at the top of the mountain.
It was different from other temples. Rather than calling it a temple, this place was more like a small farmhouse.
It was so simple and crude that Margaret could not believe it was the residence of Julian’s mother.
Margaret came for the first time and was curious about this place.
The courtyard was decorated in an antique style, and every corner of the courtyard was exquisite and attentive.
When she came, Marry was drinking tea in the courtyard. There was also a middle-aged man behind her. He looked ordinary, but his eyes were full of tenderness and love when he looked at Marry.
Margaret shivered and subconsciously glanced at Julian beside her.
What should she do? She seemed to have seen her mother-in-law’s affair. Would Julian dig her eyes out?
She had seen the photo of Julian’s father and heard that he had just passed away a
few years ago. His mother was too sad and moved to live on the mountain.
She didn’t expect that such a wealthy family would have such secrets. There are really not many simple families like the Anderson family.
"Well, should we go in later?"
Just as Margaret finished speaking, Julian had already walked past her with an expressionless face. He directly passed through the arched door that was filled with ivy and stood in front of Marry.
Margaret didn’t know what to do.
"You guys are here."
Marry wore an elegant dress. There was a cup of fragrant tea on the stone table. Her tone was still the same as when Margaret first met her.
For some reason, she felt that they did not look like each other at all. "Yes, our wedding will be held next week. I hope you can attend it."
Julian didn’t look at the man behind Marry. He just said indifferently and stared at Marry.
Marry nodded. "I see."
"I will get someone to pick you up and bring you down the mountain."
Although Julian’s tone was cold, it was also filled with respect. Marry’s gaze landed on Margaret and she smiled gently, "Margaret is getting more and more beautiful. She is very suitable for you."
Margaret thought that both Julian and his mother were good at lying through their teeth. She and Julian was not a good match!
However, Margaret still responded politely, "Hello, Auntie."
Marry smiled. Margaret didn’t know if it was because of the title "Auntie" or something else, but she just smiled at her.
Then Marry looked at Julian, "Do you want to have lunch here?"
Obviously, she didn’t plan to keep them here!
Even though Margaret was standing behind Julian, she could already feel the awkwardness and alienation between them.
Sure enough, Julian said indifferently, "No. I still have things to do in the company."
"Since you are so busy, you don’t have to visit me. You should go and prepare for the wedding. I know you are good at business. I am very relieved."
Marry glanced at the man beside her and they smiled at each other.
When she looked at the man, she was not as indifferent as she looked at Julian.
Instead, she looked at the man affectionately.
Margaret thought that Marry was not relieved, and she was completely unconcerned.
"Alright, I’ll be leaving first. Have a good rest."
After Julian finished speaking, he turned around and left. Margaret felt a burst of awkwardness and could only look at Marry with a smile, "Auntie, we’ll be leaving first."
Marry smiled gently and said without hesitation, "Be careful."
Margaret was speechless.
It seemed like she did not have to worry about her relationship with Marry.
Obviously, her mother-in-law did not want to have anything to do with her at all.
On the way down the mountain, the car drove smoothly.
Margaret sat in the car. Feeling the tranquility in the car, she finally could not help but laugh. "Why don’t we play some music?"
She felt that the atmosphere was strange.
He was cold and indifferent, as if he was betrayed.
Oh, it was his father who was betrayed.
Unable to find suitable music, Margaret said awkwardly, "Your mother seems to be easy to get along with."
At the mention of Marry, Julian suddenly turned his head, and his deep eyes looked at her.
Margaret felt anxious when he looked at her. She whispered, "Actually, your father has passed away for so long. Your mother has the right to pursue her own happiness."
However, she was curious. Marry lived in a place like this. Did the Jorgansen family really not know about it?
This was obviously impossible.
There was only one truth, and that was that the Jorgansens knew what Marry was doing on the mountain. However, everyone had tacitly approved of this situation.
However, they kept saying that Marry lived in the temple on the mountain.
The corners of Julian’s mouth curled into a cold smile. That mocking smile was quite strange.
"What do you want to say?"
Julian said coldly. Margaret’s heart skipped a beat. She raised her eyebrows and whisper, "I just don’t think you are very similar to her."
His mother seemed to be much more easy-going than him.
Julian turned his head, and he seemed to be focusing on the road.
However, he said softly, "I’m not her biological son. Of course, I’m not similar to her."
Margaret didn’t know what to say.
"Well, you don’t have to explain it to me. I understand."
The more she knew, the faster she would die. Margaret hoped that she didn’t know anything. She just wanted to be a happy and rich woman. It was not suitable for her to know too much.
Julian glanced at her and a smile appeared on his face. "I didn’t know you were so considerate. You must be bored!"
