Mr. Tycoon's Beloved Wife: The Madam No One Dares to Offend

Chapter 297: Reward for His Braveness

Chapter 297: Reward for His Braveness

Bruce sat down on the sofa next to Hilla with his arm on Hilla’s shoulder. And he pulled her into his arms.

Halle consciously changed her seat and sat opposite Hilla. Looking at Hilla and Bruce, she just smiled and continued to eat the fish balls.

Margaret’s words drew Bruce’s attention. He stared at her.

Margaret felt a chill run down her back. When she met Bruce’s gaze, she subconsciously shrank back.

But when she thought that she had done nothing wrong, she straightened her back again.

"What did you smell?"

Bruce’s voice was low and cold. It seems that a sharp dagger fell on her neck.

His gaze, his tone, were definitely warning her.

Bruce did not say anything, but Margaret understood the hidden words.

That is, "Control your mouth and don’t talk nonsense. Watch out for your life. "

Margaret subconsciously touched her neck. Fortunately, her head was still there.

Margaret glanced at the coffee table and muttered, "What else can it be? Of course, the smell of stinky tofu you bought!"

"I also think that its smell is the strongest, but this stinky tofu is really delicious."

Hilla covered her lips and smiled. She approached Margaret and looked at her with a cunning look. "Don’t you think it tasted like that in the stall in the alley near River University?"

"How could it be? They are far away from each other."

After Margaret finished speaking, she couldn’t help but look at her brother and snorted, "Didn’t my brother say that he bought it near someone’s home?"

Margaret was practically gnashing her teeth when she mentioned someone. That fake had caused her to be at odds with her brother, so she remembered the resentment.

Hilla was confused and turned to look at Bruce, "Someone’s home?"

When Margaret said that, Halle, who was on the other side, had already frowned slightly.

Without waiting for Bruce to speak, Halle reminded, "Are you talking about the place where Lori lives? I didn’t expect Bruce to go so far to buy the food. Really thoughtful."

Halle’s smile on her face was obviously not warm.

She agreed to keep Hilla in the Anderson’s at that time because Bruce had said that he would treat Hilla sincerely.

Although the Anderson family was powerful and could give Hilla a good life, she hoped that her sister would live with dignity rather than for the money.

The Anderson family had helped them a lot. She hoped that it was sincere and wouldn’t turn to a shackle that bound Hilla.

She hoped Hilla stayed in the Anderson family because Bruce and the Andersons were good to her, which moved her, not just made her feel grateful to the Anderson family.

Gratitude was different from sincerity.

If Bruce had done something wrong to Hilla, although she, as Hilla’s older sister, was weak and powerless, she would still do her best for her.

"Lori? Lori Gilmore?"

Hilla wasn’t a fool. Looking at Margaret’s indignant face and Halle’s cooling face, she seemed to sense something unusual.

She turned to look at Bruce, and said calmly and amiably, "You sent Lori home tonight."

Bruce was calm at first, but when he met Hilla’s scrutinizing gaze, he suddenly felt a little guilty.

He could not help but frown. "Was he being interrogated by his wife?" He thought.

Although Hilla looked calm, Bruce felt uneasy.

The calmer Hilla was, the more she thought about it.

"Yes!"

Bruce replied very calmly. He knew that lying at this time was equivalent to courting death.

Moreover, he did not want to hide it. After all, he took the initiative to tell them the place.

"Was it coincidental or intentional?"

Hilla pursed.

Although Bruce didn’t intend to save his face in front of Hilla, now it was different. At this time, Margaret was waiting for gossip with her eyes wide open and ears propped up.

On the other side was his eldest sister-in-law, who had a cold expression and sharp eyes, and was ready to slap him at any time.

Being stared at by these women made Bruce stressed.

"Intentional. I accidentally met Lori at the dinner party today and she was drunk. I

saw that she was put in a difficult position, so I sent her home."

Hilla nodded. "It’s indeed too dangerous for a girl like Lori to be drunk outside. Moreover, she saved your life. It’s right for you to send her home safely."

Even if she saw a strange woman being put in a difficult position by a man, she would stand out.

Sure enough, after Bruce explained, Halle’s expression was much better.

However, Margaret, who was at the side, snorted in disdain and said, "Does she think other people are fools? Bruce, how did an orphan girl get in at a business party you attended?"

"What a coincidence. How would such a coincidence happen?"

"I’ve never seen you meet this woman so coincidentally before. But ever since she saved you, you’ve met her so coincidentally time and time again."

Margaret gritted her teeth. She thought of a fake’s routine. First, pretend to be pitiful, then to be kind, and finally make coincidences!

Lori had saved her brother and had done a great favor to the Anderson family. It was true. Even if Orlenna and Bruce did not mention it, she would be willing to repay her.

But they gave her money, she refused. They arranged a job for her, she also refused.

Orlenna even wanted to give her a house, and Lori still refused.

Therefore, Orlenna felt that Lori was kind-hearted and didn’t want a return for saving others, and she was a real good person.

Even if Lori asked Bruce to help build a new orphanage, they thought it was right.

It was not just a return to Lori, but also a charity and kindness to society and those poor children.

They were willing to repay her for saving Bruce, and they were not ungrateful. But that woman did not ask for anything and had always been around Bruce. It was a bit too much.

Didn’t she know that Bruce was a married man? How could she let him send her home? Didn’t she have the money to take a taxi?

The more Margaret thought about it, the angrier she became. Sooner or later, she would reveal that fake’s tricks.

Hilla pursed her lips and didn’t follow Margaret’s words. Instead, she said with a smile, "It’s too late. I’m a little tired. Let’s go back to our room and rest!"

Halle nodded. She knew that Hilla wanted to talk to Bruce alone, so she didn’t stay any longer, got up, and went upstairs.

Margaret saw that Halle left without saying anything. If she spoke any more, Bruce might want to kill her. It was too dangerous. So, she quickly went back to her room.

There were only two people in the living room at once.

Hilla looked at Bruce.

Bruce was stunned. Before he could say anything, he saw Hilla pursing her red lips and smiling coldly at him. She spat out two words, "Go back."

It made Bruce’s toes curl. He had the feeling that he was going to be taught a lesson by his wife!

...

Inside of the corridor.

Margaret held onto Halle, who was about to return to her room, and whispered, "Halle, will Hilla be mad at Bruce?"

She had seen a smile on Hilla’s face, but it wasn’t a genuine one.

She was afraid that Hilla would be angry at Bruce because she said something wrong.

If Bruce was unhappy today, she would not be happy tomorrow. Margaret was scared, thinking about whether she should run away. "Bruce is smart. It may not be as bad as you thought." Halle glanced at the bedroom.

Margaret was still worried. She rubbed her hands. "I should have reminded him to keep distance from Lori in private. But I did it in front of Hilla. She must be angry now."

"Why did Bruce have to buy food in Lori’s neighborhood?" Margaret felt that Bruce was a better businessman than a man. Other men would hide the fact if they had cheated.

Instead, he admitted it. She didn’t know whether he was honest or he got nothing to hide.

"Don’t worry. Bruce isn’t that kind of guy and Hilla will reason with him." Halle smiled and comforted her. Margaret was really worried about them. As Hilla’s sister, she did not care about her as much as Margaret did. Margaret listened to Halle. But she did not feel comfortable at all.

"Women always care about it. Even if Bruce has nothing to do with Lori, when Hilla knew that Lori had been near to him, she would feel uncomfortable. Hilla must be very angry now. She will not forgive Bruce."

She knew Bruce was so stubborn that he would not keep his head down.

He would not admit the relationship between him and Lori.

But in this case, the more stubborn the man was, the angrier the woman would be.

"They have gone through a lot. And Bruce has just returned from South Africa. Maybe it’s not like what we think. Go back to your room and sleep."

Would Hilla fall apart with Bruce because of the speculation? Was their marriage too fragile?

While thinking of she would soon get married to Horton, Halle frowned. Maybe they cannot endure such speculation after getting married.

"Alright then. Halle, you should rest now. By the way, will you register for marriage at the bureau tomorrow?"

Margaret suddenly regained her energy. She leaned against the door and stared at Halle in front of her.

"Can I go with you?

I just want to see what’s the bureau like and whether it’s complex to get married."

As Margaret spoke, she looked around. Her face turned red. She was curious, but also kind of embarrassed.

Halle smiled. "No, it’s unlucky to bring another person."

Margaret was stunned for a moment. Then she nodded. "Okay. Halle, have a good rest!"

"You don’t have to worry. You will soon see what’s happening inside." Margaret did not care about what she said and rolled her eyes.

She closed the door disappointedly. Halle smiled and turned around to look at the master bedroom. Then she returned to her room.

In the master bedroom.

Hilla sat on the bed and raised her head when she saw Bruce enter the room.

"Just stand there!"

"Close the door."

Bruce stopped and obediently turned around to close the door. He stared at Hilla on the bed.

"What is going on with you and Lori? It must not be a coincidence. Even if it was a coincidence, people still will gossip if you were together alone."

Although she did not suspect Lori, it would be better if she kept Bruce under control rather than fighting for him against the other women.

After all, those women were chasing him. It was quite a challenge to get married to a wonderful man.

Bruce recovered from his thoughts and took off his suit jacket. Then, he casually unbuttoned his shirt.

Hilla was angry when she saw he didn’t care about it.

Bruce said before she could speak, "It was an accident. Mr. Catton got her drunk and I happened to see it. Mr. Catton was the vice president of the charity association which donated the orphanage. When I saw her, Mr. Catton’s assistant was holding her."

Hilla was stunned, thinking about how helpless Lori could be under that kind of situation.

Bruce did nothing wrong. So, it was rude for her to blame him.

Hilla pursed her lips and picked up the pillow next to her. "Forget it. This time you did the right thing, but you should keep a distance from it next time. You have assistants. Why do you have to send her home yourself?"

Bruce nodded and said obediently, "You are right. I will listen to you in the future." Bruce had already taken off his shirt. His strong body was shown in front of Hilla. Hilla glanced at him, blushed, and immediately buried her face in the pillow.

"I didn’t ask you to listen to me. I was just reminding you to keep some distance from other women since you are married."

She said with her head in the pillow.

Bruce walked straight to her.

Hilla heard him coming. She was stunned since they hadn’t hooked up for so long.

"The bathroom is there."

Hilla covered her eyes with one hand and pointed to the bathroom with the other.

Looking at Hilla, Bruce couldn’t help but laugh as he took his pajamas in the wardrobe and sat down in front of her.

He smiled and said, "You have seen my body. Why are you so shy now?"

"I’m not shy."

Hilla muttered and looked around through her fingers.

He was so close that she blushed, "I just have not seen it for a long time."

Then she quickly closed her hands.

Bruce found that she was spying on him shyly and could not help but approach her. He smiled and said in a charming tone, "Before we go to the bathroom, I want to ask you, what’s your reward for my braveness?"
