Chapter 1122 - 1118: Still Going Strong in Old Age

Chapter 1122 - 1118: Still Going Strong in Old Age

"Can I leave now?" Sophia Hamilton took two steps back, glaring hatefully at Evander Lancaster. Just then, a sedan drove by, but in her anger, she didn’t notice it. At the last moment, Evander instinctively stepped forward and pulled her back. The sudden action was urgent, and Sophia felt a sharp pain in her nose as she crashed into what felt like a wall of flesh.

Having just been tricked into her first kiss and now hurting her nose, Sophia wasn’t sure if her heartache was from being wronged or from the physical pain. She pushed Evander away, lowered her head, covered her nose, and tears began to fall.

Evander Lancaster...

He had no idea why the girl in front of him was crying. Could it be... he hurt her when they collided? After all, he worked out regularly and had a manly physique under his jacket.

Despite being a 30-year-old man indifferent to women, he couldn’t stand seeing women cry, especially someone so young and cute. Taking a deep breath, he walked over hesitantly and said, "Sorry, I was too rash just now, I didn’t gauge my strength..."

At this moment, Evander didn’t even know what he wanted to express.

"Get lost, you pervert!"

Sophia, covering her aching nose, took another step back, only to be pulled back by Evander. "Come back, there’s a car behind you!"

"I don’t care!" Sophia shook off Evander’s hand again, glaring at him with anger while holding her nose. "Can I leave now? Didn’t you say that after a kiss, there’s no need to take responsibility?"

Exasperated, Evander sighed. He raised his hand to scratch his forehead, turning his head to glance to the side. "Go, you don’t need to be responsible."

"Hmph!" Sophia snorted coldly, opened the door of her Mini QQ, and got in. She smoothly reversed, turned, and aligned her QQ with Evander’s Bentley. Just then, she opened the door and got out without even closing it, walked straight towards Evander under his surprised gaze, covered her nose, and aimed a kick at him. Thankfully, Evander quickly crossed his hands in front of him to protect himself, narrowly avoiding a direct hit. If not, it might have been a bullseye.

"Scumbag! That’s your lesson, let’s see if you’ll take advantage of other girls again!"

With that, Sophia got back in the driver’s seat, slammed the door shut, and drove off, leaving Evander in her wake.

Watching the Mini QQ merge into the traffic, Evander chuckled to himself, "What a little firecracker!" Clearly rear-ended him without offering compensation yet was so righteous about it. Truly shameless.

...

"Sophia, why are you home so early today? Didn’t you say you’d be working late yesterday?" Juliana Lancaster greeted her daughter curiously upon her return.

"Mom, it’s not early; it’s already four o’clock." Sophia shut the door and changed into slippers, threw her car keys on the coffee table, and sprawled on the couch.

Worried about her mother’s complaints, she didn’t mention getting fired.

Juliana glanced at her watch, furrowed her brow, and mumbled to herself, "That’s true, you usually don’t get home until six. Why are you done so early today..."

"The company had a power outage, so we got off early." Sophia casually made an excuse, thinking about starting her job search again tomorrow.

Juliana looked up at her daughter, puzzled, eyebrows knitted together. She thought for a moment, came over to sit on the couch, and tentatively asked, "Sophia, did you get fired again?"

"Mom, no..." Sophia didn’t want to admit it. Her mom was retired, only drawing a small pension monthly, and her own pay wasn’t high, often resulting in layoffs.

"Tell me the truth, did you hit your boss again?"

Juliana asked sternly. Sophia feared this look on her mother’s face. Her dad had passed away early, and her mom raised her single-handedly, so she always made sure not to upset her mom.

She pulled her extended legs back, sat properly on the couch, lowered her head, and muttered softly, "I don’t want to get fired all the time either, but those old perverts keep trying to take advantage of me."

Juliana sighed and shook her head, "Oh, it’s all because your father left too soon!"

With that, she got up and headed to the kitchen. "Take a rest first. I’ll go make dinner."

Watching her mother’s figure, Sophia felt deep guilt. From the day her father passed, she secretly vowed to work hard so her mother could enjoy life at home, yet now, as an adult, she still caused her mother to worry.

...

Over in Saipan, three couples wrapped up their vacation and applied for flights back home together.

Sophie Foster was pregnant, so Nicholas Croft reduced his participation in various activities, spending most of his time at home with his surrogate wife.

After returning to T City, Nathan Moore was the busiest, balancing work while also investigating evidence against Ariana Evans for causing Titus Zane’s mother’s death.

The least busy was Felix Shaw, who, after the vacation, seemed to have improved his relationship with Mia Foster. Before the vacation, the two had been living apart; post-vacation, they were sharing a bed again.

Half a month later, Melody Zachary, who was taking a break abroad, returned to the country, of course, accompanied by Oliver Shaw.

Despite undergoing surgery, Melody’s body not only showed no signs of slimming down but had become more voluptuous than before.

On the weekend, Felix and Mia returned to the Shaw Family home to see their parents. While eating, Oliver casually asked, "Felix, when are you and Mia planning to have kids?"

After Oliver’s words, Mia’s action of picking food paused, but only for a moment before she continued eating. Felix glanced at her, smiled, and said, "No rush. Mia and I want to wait two more years."

Even though Felix was smiling, there was a bitterness in his heart, as Mia still wouldn’t let him touch her.

Oliver didn’t say anything further, but Melody, radiating with love’s glow, looked over, her cheeks tinged with pink.

"Felix, Mia, have a baby now while you’re young. In a few years, having a baby at an older age will be risky."

While Mia could ignore her father-in-law, she couldn’t pretend not to hear her mother-in-law. Just as she was about to respond, Felix wrapped an arm around her affectionately and childishly said to his mother, "Mom, if you and Dad like kids so much, why not have another one yourselves? We’re still enjoying our couple’s life."

"Hmph, if we have a baby, we have a baby. Who likes to help you raise your kids anyway?" Oliver huffed in displeasure.

Felix Shaw...

"Dad, does that mean you’re planning to have another baby with Mom?"

"What do you mean planning?" Oliver placed his chopsticks on the table with a smack. Turning to look at Melody, his face was filled with tenderness, "Your mom is already pregnant; she’s nearly two months along."

Felix was almost gaping in surprise, while Mia was equally shocked.

Recovering, Felix gave his dad a thumbs-up, "Way to go, Dad. You’re really keeping strong!"
