Chapter 292: Like a Withering Flower (III)

Chapter 292: Like a Withering Flower (III)

"Good morning, boy. Do you want to visit your mother today?" Sebek asked as he had been waiting at the lakeside.

Jojo nodded happily, accompanied by his father to reach the lakeside. "I want to meet Mommy! Oh, I also want to play with the faeries! Tutu told me that faeries live in a mushroom house!"

"Hahah! That’s right, young one!" Sebek laughed heartily. After observing the Dusk and Dawn Star for a while, he came to an understanding that they meant no harm, but it was their birth curses that made them unable to live a normal life.

"Please watch over him, Sir," Kael said respectfully. He might be much stronger than this giant alligator, but the alligator was the one carrying his wife and son back and forth, so he had to be respectful.

"Oh, don’t worry about it, Darling’s husband. The faeries are already waiting for him behind the waterfall. He’ll be in good hands," Sebek replied. "Besides, the faerie land is the safest place on earth, and since Darling stays with them now, order should be restored once again."

Kael felt bitter when Sebek mentioned Sisi who was staying with the faeries. He knew that Sisi belonged in this faerie land, but he was too selfish to move on. He’d rather wait for her even for eternity in here.

Jojo waved his hand to his father as he sat on Sebek’s head. He continued waving until he was swallowed by the waterfall, and finally left Kael alone.

Kael clenched his fists to endure the pain of being alone once again. Without his wife and son, he truly had no worth in this world.

"Please be safe, Jojo, Sisi."

**

Jojo was walking through the long, narrow cave with the faeries. He realized that Tutu, Dodo, and Keke were slowly becoming bigger and bigger until they were slightly taller than him, especially Dodo.

They all looked like older kids to him, which surprised the boy.

"And we are here, Jojo!" Jan Keke said as she pointed at the door. "Just push that door and you’ll be in the faerie land! Oh, don’t worry about your mother, our Darling is resting with other faeries in Grandma Tree’s courtyard!"

"Un!"

Jojo pushed the door without hesitation and was awed by the sheer beauty of what he saw.

The faerie land was even more magical than what the faeries told him before, with mushroom-like houses hanging on the cone-shaped wall, and faeries flying around everywhere.

They all stopped when they saw Jojo, and flew away in a hurry.

"Ah... do they not like me?" Jojo asked sadly. "I want to make a lot of friends..."

"Aww, don’t be so sad, Jojo. It’s because you’re not a faerie, and faeries are naturally scared of other creatures except for bugs, cubs, and toddlers," Crush Tutu said. Though, the real reason was obviously because of Jojo’s identity as the Dawn Star.

But they were instructed by their Darling not to make him feel sad over his status. After all, Jojo was just an innocent boy who wanted to hug his parents, hunt and eat a lot of meat, and play with friends.

"Oh! That’s right! Jojo is five now! I’m a big boy!" Jojo claimed, dispelling his sadness immediately. "Alright, Tutu, Keke, Dodo, let’s go and meet Mommy! I miss her already!"

"Sure!"

The trio of faeries escorted him to the Tree of Origin’s ancient courtyard where most of the faeries were busy frolicking or taking care of the courtyard.

Colorful petals rained continuously from the sky, giving a spectacular sight for the boy.

"Uwahh... so beautiful..." Jojo murmured as he was staring at the massive ancient tree for a long time before his gaze stopped at his mother, who was sitting right at the bottom of the tree, being attended by many faeries.

"Mommy!"

Sisi turned her head and smiled upon seeing her son. She opened her arms and called him back, "Come here, Jojo!"

"Mommyyyy!"

Jojo ran happily through the flower field until he hugged his mother’s arm. He wanted to throw himself into his mother’s embrace at first, but then remembered that his baby sibling was sensitive, so he hugged Sisi’s arm instead.

"Mommy, it’s so beautiful in here!" Jojo said.

"Right? The faerie land is the most beautiful place I’ve ever lived in... well, I think the Beast Kingdom and the small cave we lived in before are just as good," Sisi giggled. "I’m sure you’ve known about General Gugu and Healer Roro, right?"

Jojo turned his head and his smile beamed, "Hello, Gugu, Roro!"

"H-hello... Jojo..."

Honestly, General Gugu, Healer Roro, and the rest of the faeries were still scared of Jojo. After all, he was the Dawn Star.

He might look harmless, but based on their elders’ stories from the distant past, every incarnation of the Dawn Star would end up being the most destructive creature on earth, to the point that it could wipe out an entire civilization with ease, and would die a terrible death alongside his father, the Dusk Star, after causing endless torment on earth.

However, it was their Darling who kept telling them that Jojo and Kael were harmless, and since Grandma Tree had given Jojo permission to visit the faerie land on a regular basis, the faeries decided to give him a chance.

"Mommy, you look um... shining! You look so beautiful today!" Jojo said while staring at his mother.

Sisi chuckled.

Of course, she had been using magic to hide her withering body. Even the faeries had no idea how much damage the baby had caused to her; they simply thought that their darling’s body was weakening because she was pregnant, and faeries were not supposed to engage in physical pleasure or breed like humans or beastmen.

Only Grandma Tree knew about her suffering, and was pretty devastated about it.

Nevertheless, Sisi had made her choice, and now she was trying to make the best out of her situation.

"Now, now, why don’t you play with Tutu, Keke, and Dodo? You want to visit a mushroom house, right?"

"Yes!"

"Then go. Don’t worry, Mommy’s always here."
