Mist Empire’s Rise: Fake Noble to Fog Queen

Chapter 350 348: The Black Dragon Who Likes Spinning

Chapter 350 348: The Black Dragon Who Likes Spinning

If that was the future, she must have successfully activated the teleportation array at some point and sent herself to the Misty Plains.

So the teleportation runes weren't the problem. She couldn't go now because she still didn't have enough magic.

Magic...

Luo Wei glanced at Troy. Mid-level Magic Swordsman. If she sent him... no, that wouldn't work.

She'd managed to win Troy over by dangling a big promise—she'd allowed him to become a citizen of the Misty Plains, gain his freedom, and receive a noble title.

Troy was willing to work for her now because he was working toward his own future.

If he discovered there wasn't a single person in the Misty Plains, he'd know she'd been lying to him. Then all that loyalty and faith would fly away.

Human hearts couldn't withstand tests.

Loyalty that began with deception would also fail because of deception. Only by making her promises real would loyalty become a good story.

Luo Wei let out a long sigh. She'd been too hasty.

Going in circles, she was back to considering her original options: either have Roman and Rosie activate the mineral vein, or ask Zachary to come help.

No—actually there was one more person. The necromancer, Patrick.

Patrick was also a high-level Archmage, the same magic level as Zachary.

Patrick was undead. Even if he discovered something, he wouldn't tell anyone else. Plus he knew what should and shouldn't be said.

Tomorrow. Tomorrow afternoon she'd go to Demon Island and bring Patrick back.

"Let's go, Troy. Take me back to the academy."

Luo Wei walked toward the door. She was a bit tired today and wanted to get back to the academy to rest properly.

...

The evening glow climbed across the sky, red clouds covering the heavens.

Siria Magic Academy bathed in warm golden light. The tall church spire seemed ready to pierce the sky. Flocks of messenger pigeons circled the dovecote at the tower's peak.

Walking toward the twilight, Luo Wei entered the academy castle surrounded by roses. The swaying petals were like a pink ocean.

Students returning from outings also came back to the castle in small groups, walking through the arched doorway along the winding cobblestone path.

Luo Wei lifted her skirt and climbed the steps. A tall figure in black came down the curved staircase.

"Calansis-senpai."

Luo Wei stopped, her gaze meeting those dark, deep eyes.

"Luo Wei," Hessel walked down the stairs in a few steps, a rare smile appearing on her cold face. "I have something to show you."

"What is it?" Luo Wei was curious. Something that could make the black dragon this happy?

"Come with me to the roof and you'll see," Hessel kept it mysterious, turning to extend her hand. "Hurry."

Luo Wei smiled and placed her left hand in Hessel's palm. "Okay."

The two climbed to the castle rooftop. A gentle evening breeze brushed past their ears, black hair floating in the wind.

Hessel walked ahead of Luo Wei, her leather boots' metal soles clicking on the stone tiles.

"Look, is this the kind of flying device you wanted?"

Hessel spoke as she walked, her high black ponytail swinging behind her.

Luo Wei's gaze followed her back to the center of the roof, where an iron machine shaped like an eagle with two propeller blades mounted on its back came into view.

"Is this a helicopter?" She froze for a moment, asking Hessel in surprise.

"Yes," Hessel's right hand rested on the helicopter's door frame as she turned to look at her. "Last time the helicopter I made was too small to carry people. This is the improved version—it can seat two. Want to try it?"

Luo Wei approached the helicopter, examining every detail with interest. "Has it flown yet?"

"Not yet, but I'm confident it'll fly great." Hessel was very confident.

Without flight testing, Luo Wei was a bit afraid to get in.

She wasn't afraid of the helicopter crashing—she was afraid of it exploding.

Luo Wei hesitated as she circled the helicopter. "What's it powered by? Magic stones? Magic runes?"

"Neither. It uses fuel made from paraffin wax," Hessel opened an external auxiliary fuel tank on the side of the fuselage. "You mentioned last time there are magic-dead zones at sea where magic can't be used, so I replaced the magic runes with this."

"Senpai, you're amazing," Luo Wei praised. "I only mentioned it once and you figured out a solution so quickly!"

"It wasn't all my idea. Your 'Helicopter Design Principles Manual' mentioned a fuel called 'gasoline.' I couldn't find gasoline, but I figured paraffin wax also burns, so it should work as fuel too."

She made it sound simple, but paraffin wax and gasoline were completely different fuels. Plus liquid paraffin wasn't easy to burn—it required lots of research and modifications.

"Senpai, you don't need to be modest. I only wrote the most basic principles. Anyone could write those principles, but there's only one person in the entire Western Plains who could put them into practice."

Luo Wei looked sincerely into Hessel's eyes. "Calansis-senpai, you're a born Mystical Smith, an unparalleled genius!"

Hessel felt embarrassed by the praise and turned her head to cough, her fist covering her slightly upturned lips.

"Ahem, want to look inside? There are some simple controls. We can fly up to the sky and take a spin."

Hessel really enjoyed flying helicopters. Even though her true form had wings to fly with, flying with wings felt completely different from sitting in a helicopter.

She stepped her long legs over and climbed into the helicopter, sitting in the pilot's seat, then turned to invite Luo Wei. "Come on up. Once it gets dark we won't be able to see anything."

Luo Wei bent down to gather her skirt and tie it in a knot, grabbed the exterior handle, and climbed into the cockpit, sitting in the seat next to Hessel.

This helicopter was pretty compact. With two people inside, the cabin was full. Ignoring the overhead propeller, the fuselage below looked more like a bumper car with a tail.

While Luo Wei was observing the cabin environment, Hessel had already started the engine.

"Hold on tight, we're taking off!"

Luo Wei pressed back against her seat, gripping the armrests with both hands. "I'm ready."

"Good."

Hessel pulled up the control stick. The next second, the helicopter shot into the sky like a firework.

Luo Wei almost flew out of her seat. Wind howled in her ears. She turned her head and saw the cabin door wasn't closed!

No—this helicopter didn't have cabin doors at all!

The intense turbulence shook her until her face turned green. The helicopter spun like it was drunk, the fuselage rotating along with the propeller. The scenery outside the window blurred into white streaks across the screen.

Luo Wei fought down her nausea and looked at Hessel, but Hessel's eyes were practically glowing with excitement. Hand on the control stick, foot on the right pedal, she'd pushed it all the way down.

"Sen... senpai, ease up on the pedal..."

If they kept spinning like this, she really was going to throw up!

The noise was too loud. Hessel didn't hear what she said at all. Her eyes were still looking straight ahead, but she turned her head to talk.

"How is it, Luo Wei? Pretty thrilling, right? Want to go even faster?"

Luo Wei clenched her teeth to keep from vomiting, forcing words through her teeth. "No—fly—slower—slower—"

"What? I can't hear you!" Hessel shouted. "Wait a bit—I want to fly higher! I want to see how high it can go!"

Luo Wei: ...Going higher? She was already dead.

The iron floor of the cabin started getting hot. Even through her shoe soles she could feel the heat. She was genuinely worried this helicopter would fall apart mid-air!
