Miss Witch’s Devotion Has Gone… Twisted

Chapter 156: Preparations for Confession

Chapter 156: Preparations for Confession

In the end, Mirrorheart obediently came out under Loren's command. Lunchtime passed peacefully, and after eating, Loren went out with the letters.

The moment he left, Laila mysteriously pulled Anna into Anna's room.

"Anna, I want to tell you a secret. I hope you'll keep it for me for now."

"What secret? I love secrets!"

Anna's eyes lit up, and her tone suddenly became childish, as if coaxing a child. Laila, preoccupied with her own thoughts, didn't notice this.

"I think I've fallen for Loren."

Laila had steeled herself countless times before saying this to Anna. The reason she chose to confide in Anna first was simple: she didn't see Anna as a rival.

"When did you get on... uh... I mean, when did you start liking Master Mentor?"

Anna hadn't expected this sudden confession and almost misspoke.

"I'm not sure either... Anyway, I want to confess to Loren today!"By the time she finished saying this, Laila's face was completely red. Those words had been practically forced out of her.

"Hmm, that's a shame. You won't succeed."

"Why?"

Anna's words immediately made Laila anxious. She remembered the requirements Loren had mentioned for a partner during their previous heart-to-heart talk. Laila felt she perfectly met them, yet she kept suddenly feeling inferior, thinking she wasn't good enough for Loren.

After all, the gap in their status was truly immense. Even knowing Loren had raised so many Witches, her inferiority complex hadn't lessened much. One could even say her tsundere attitude was to mask her own sense of inadequacy.

"Because Master Mentor is straight. There was a guy before who wanted to... uh... 'steel' Master Mentor, and Master Mentor ended up wiping out his whole family."

"Well, the main reason was they wanted to create monsters in the Gedlan Royal Capital, but I think it had at least a little to do with that incident."

"I'm actually a girl!"

Hearing Anna's words, Laila hurriedly began to explain. She hadn't expected Anna to say it was impossible for that to be the reason. Suddenly, she felt a surge of hope.

"Wow, you're actually a girl? You hid it so well, I never noticed all this time."

Anna feigned astonishment, delivering the emotional support to the max. She had been trying to find ways to bolster Laila's courage, giving her an assist.

"And... I'm a Witch..."

At this point, Laila suddenly deflated. The more life experience one had, the better one understood what being a Witch truly represented. Even if the Pope were discovered helping a Witch, he would have to be executed immediately alongside her.

"Then we'll have one more companion."

Anna suddenly took Laila's hand, offering a warm smile:

"Actually, I don't really have a concept of the Witches' plight. Because I grew up surrounded by Master Mentor's love. He always knew we were Witches, but his love for us never diminished in the slightest."

"From childhood till now, I've never felt my identity as a Witch had any negative impact on me. Master Mentor has always protected me. He doesn't care if I'm a Witch, because he loves me, and I love him. That's enough."

"Oh, and Master Mentor also said Witches are the most perfect beings in this world. One day, he will slaughter the gods and protect all Witches."

"So, you don't need to worry about your identity. In fact, being a Witch might even be an advantage for you."

Every single word Anna spoke was sincere and struck a chord deep within Laila's heart.

She suddenly stood up excitedly, her gaze firm:

"Anna, you must help me! Help me confess to Loren!"

Laila had originally worried that Anna might be jealous or try to exclude her. Yet, the one offering her the most help turned out to be Anna. Laila was deeply moved by this and decided she would definitely treat Anna as her own flesh and blood from now on!

"Okay! But right now, the most important thing is to change your image..."

"Mm!"

Laila knew this, which was why she had chosen to seek out Anna. They were about the same height, so Anna's clothes would fit Laila well enough. She wanted to borrow some of Anna's clothes, since Laila herself didn't own any women's attire.

Anna opened the wardrobe and picked out several outfits for Laila. Most of her clothes were in a cute style, even a bit childish, which made Laila somewhat embarrassed. But they were still better than Laila's current clothes.

"Try this one first. Call me when you've changed."

After rummaging through the pile of clothes for a long time, Anna finally selected a blue-and-white dress. This one was relatively more mature.

After handing the clothes to Laila, Anna turned around. She heard some rustling;

Laila struggled quite a bit putting the dress on.

"Done... It's just a bit tight, but I'm used to it..."

When Anna turned back, Laila was already dressed, though the clothes were all askew. Anna spent a good while helping her adjust everything.

"You're really hiding some impressive assets..."

Realizing what Anna meant, Laila suddenly blushed and hurriedly changed the subject:

"Do I look okay like this?"

Laila stood up and looked in the mirror. The dress was indeed beautiful, but paired with her face, it created a sense of dissonance.

"Let me do your makeup and fix your hair."

Anna pinpointed the issue. Laila had a tomboyish look, but her looks were genuinely striking. She just needed a bit of makeup.

As a Witch, Anna never wore makeup, but she did own cosmetics. While she wasn't very skilled, she could manage some minor adjustments.

After Anna applied light makeup for Laila, Laila's aura underwent a dramatic transformation. Staring at her reflection in the mirror, Laila could hardly believe it:

"Am I really this cute?"

"Of course! You're bound to succeed tonight. Oh, and I need to teach you some little techniques."

Anna leaned close to Laila's ear and whispered something. Laila's expression instantly froze, as if she had heard something beyond her comprehension.

"Why would you do that? Such a dirty place..."

"This..."

Now it was Anna's turn to be flustered. Laila was more innocent than she had imagined. This was troublesome.

So, Anna pulled out a comic book from under her pillow and began lecturing Laila:

"This is lesson one. We need to learn about human anatomy..."

Having spent so much time glued to Loren, Anna had picked up some of his mentor-like demeanor through osmosis.

The comics Mirrorheart drew were quite suitable as teaching materials, as they even included cross-sectional diagrams. Some medical textbooks weren't this detailed.

Anna hadn't expected to spend most of today giving Laila lessons.

At first, Laila felt uncomfortable looking at these graphic images, but she was a diligent student. For Loren's sake, she suppressed her inner discomfort and persisted in her studies.

Mirrorheart's comics were practically worn out from flipping through them, and Laila thoroughly understood the knowledge Anna was teaching.

"Teacher Anna, I have one last question."

"Go ahead."

Anna took off the plain glasses she was wearing. To cosplay as a teacher, she had even put on a pair of spectacles.

"Why are the protagonists in the textbook Loren and Mirrorheart?"

"Uh... Mirrorheart is Master Mentor's maid and assistant. Isn't it reasonable for her to use herself as the model for the textbook?"
