Mated To My Stepbrother

Chapter 119

Chapter 119

Unknown pov

As we started our journey up north to the high mountains, my heart was racing with anticipation. I was nervous but excited about the prospects of a new beginning and what Alex’s family’s legacy could mean for me. The trip was long, but as we got closer to the mountains, we could see the lush green landscape, and the air was crisp. I could feel the excitement building inside me.

Moments later, we arrived at a vast estate at the base of the mountain. The property was grand, with tall, elegant trees lining the driveway, and the mansion looming in front of us. I could see Alex’s grandfather, a tall and sturdy man, waiting for us at the front door. Alex’s grandfather approached us, a bright smile on his face, and I felt a warmth spread through my heart. I knew that my new beginning had finally begun, and with his blessing, the future looked brighter than ever.

As we stepped out of the car, Alex’s grandpa came up to us with a warm smile. "Welcome, welcome, my boy," he said, his eyes shining with pride as he hugged Alex. "And who might this lovely young lady be?" he asked, looking at me with curiosity.

"This is Samantha, Grandpa," Alex said, taking my hand. "She’s the woman I told you about."

"Ah, Samantha. Welcome to our home," his grandpa said, his eyes scanning me. "You look like a strong, determined young woman. What brings you to our family’s estate?"

"I’m here to meet you, sir," I said, feeling nervous but determined. "I wanted to thank you for the opportunities you’ve given Alex and for welcoming me into your family."

"That’s very kind of you. Please, call me George," he said with a smile, patting my arm. "Come, let me show you around."

As we walked through the estate, grandpa talked about the family history and about the various workings of the property while pointing out the different art, sculptures, and other majestic decor items. I couldn’t help but be awed by the grandeur of the estate, and I was amazed at how grandpa knew everything about the place.

As we walked further, we arrived at a small pond in the middle of the garden. grandpa gestured for us to sit, and we sat down on a bench, with him sitting between us.

"Well, Samantha," grandpa started, "I understand you once worked at the brothel."

My heart sank, and I started to sweat nervously. "Yes, sir. I did."

"And what made you leave that life behind?" grandpa asked, looking at me sternly.

"I realized that it wasn’t the life I wanted for myself," I replied, looking into his eyes, determined to be honest with him. "I’m ready for a new beginning, and I hope that your family can give me that opportunity."

grandpa sat silently for a moment, looking at me up and down, then turned to Alex and said, "You have got yourself a strong woman here, my boy. Keep her around."

I felt my heart finally relax, and I smiled at the kind words. I knew I had his blessing. Alex and I held hands and sat there staring out into the pond, thinking about all the possibilities our future held.

As we drove back home, Alex and I talked more about our fake relationship. I mustered up the courage to bring up my concerns to him.

"Alex, I don’t think we should keep up this fake relationship for too long," I said, looking at him intently. "I don’t want to deceive your grandpa, and I also don’t want us to get too emotionally attached."

"I understand," Alex said, nodding in agreement. "But we don’t really have a choice right now. We have to keep up this charade until you’re ready to face your past and move on from it."

"I know, but at the same time, I don’t want us to get stuck in this fake relationship for too long," I said, feeling a lump form in my throat. "I don’t want anyone to get hurt."

"I won’t let that happen, Samantha," Alex said, taking my hand in his. "We’ll be honest with each other about our feelings and intentions, and we’ll work together to make sure things don’t get out of hand."

I took a deep breath, feeling reassured by his words. "Thank you, Alex. I appreciate your support and understanding."

"Of course, Samantha," Alex said, giving my hand a gentle squeeze. "We’re in this together, and we’ll get through it together."

As we drove back home, discussing our fake relationship, Alex’s phone rang. It was his older brother, Adam. He had been in Las Vegas for the past few weeks, managing one of the company’s branches. As we pulled over to answer the call, I could hear Adam’s voice loud and clear, expressing his concerns with how their father was running the company.

"Hey, Adam. How’s Vegas?" Alex asked.

"It’s good, but I’ve got some bad news," Sam replied. "Dad’s making a lot of questionable decisions lately. I think it’s time for me to come back and take over the company."

"Take over the company?" Alex repeated, the concern evident in his voice. "What about Dad?"

"He’s getting too old, Alex. He’s not making the best choices for the company, and it’s affecting our bottom line," Sam explained. "I know it’s a tough pill to swallow, but I think it’s time for a change in leadership."

I could see how conflicted Alex felt. He loved his father and respected him deeply, but he also understood the importance of running a successful business. As they continued to talk, I couldn’t help but think how this would affect our fake relationship. Would Sam see through our act? Would he be suspicious of Alex’s sudden romantic interest in me?

Once the call ended, Alex turned to me, a furrowed brow on his forehead. "I’m not sure what this means for us," he said, running a hand through his hair. "Adam’s coming back, and he’s not happy with how things are going. I’m worried about how this will affect our arrangement."

"I understand," I said softly. "But we’ll work through this together, just like we have been. Whatever happens, I’m here for you."

Alex smiled at me, a look of gratitude in his eyes. "Thank you, Samantha. I don’t know what I’d do without you."

As we continued our drive back home, I couldn’t help but wonder what the future held for us. Would our fake relationship survive the turmoil that lay ahead? Only time would tell. The only thing I knew for sure was that I was grateful to have Alex by my side, no matter what.
