Chapter 211 - 212: A Tadpole Tattooing a Frog
"So, as long as I stay away from that friend, I’ll be okay?"
Su Nian nodded.
The girl left, looking completely shattered.
Su Nian watched as the yellow aura of luck above the girl’s head seemed to gradually recover.
Stretching, Su Nian prepared to leave as well.
But then she got a phone call.
"Fellow Daoist Su, this is Qing Ran. There’s something I’d like to trouble you with."
The humble voice came through the phone.
In an instant, Su Nian could almost picture him on the other side, stroking his beard with a respectful and cautious expression.
"Go ahead."
"This matter is a bit tricky. Could I trouble you to come over to the Central Courtyard?"
Hearing the exhaustion in his voice, Su Nian grew curious about what had happened and readily agreed.
"Okay, I’m on my way."
After hanging up, Su Nian drove over.
Daoist Qingran was an elderly man with a full, snow-white beard. Dressed in a Daoist robe, he stroked his beard and looked at Su Nian with a mixture of anticipation and nervousness.
"Fellow Daoist Su! You’re finally here!"
Su Nian nodded, not bothering with pleasantries, and asked directly, "What is it?"
"There’s a young woman... she fell into a coma for no apparent reason. It’s been almost five days now, and she still hasn’t woken up."
"Mm, got it."
Su Nian nodded, understanding immediately. ’This must be the daughter of some big shot. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been able to get Qing Ran involved.’
Sure enough, just to enter the family’s courtyard, she had to go through a series of security checks. An expression of extreme impatience crossed Su Nian’s face.
But for Qing Ran’s sake, Su Nian hid her annoyance and didn’t let it show.
Finally, under Qing Ran’s guidance, Su Nian made it inside the house.
It was an incredibly luxurious manor, with exceptionally ornate decor.
Stepping into the manor, the first thing one saw was an utterly extravagant grand hall. An intricate chandelier cast a cold, bright light, while the four high walls cast dark shadows on the soft carpet.
Led by a servant, they passed through a long, spacious, yet deserted corridor.
Su Nian glanced around. The corridor alone was lined with numerous famous paintings. When they finally entered the living room, the valuable decorations became even more abundant.
A couple sat on a sofa that looked incredibly expensive. The man had a cold expression and an air of authority, while the woman was graceful and elegant, clearly well-maintained.
She looked at Qing Ran, then at Su Nian standing behind him, and frowned for no apparent reason.
"Master Qingran, is this the Fellow Daoist Su you mentioned?"
Although her tone was questioning, it was laced with a hint of doubt.
Qing Ran, however, seemed completely oblivious. He was all smiles, as if Su Nian’s arrival was the magical solution to all their problems.
"Yes, yes! Fellow Daoist Su’s Magic is superb, and her character is beyond reproach. With her here, you can rest assured about little Ya’s situation."
The elegant lady’s frown deepened, her expression filled with blatant suspicion.
"Daoist Qingran, I place a great deal of trust in you. If you’re going to act like this, I’m going to get angry."
As she spoke, her tone rose slightly, dripping with arrogance.
She completely ignored Su Nian, treating her as nothing more than a junior who had tagged along for the spectacle.
The man on the sofa also did nothing more than glance at Su Nian. After taking in her clothes, a flash of disdain crossed his eyes.
He didn’t say a word after that.
As if her first comment wasn’t enough, the wealthy lady added another.
"Master Qingran, a family like ours is at the apex of high society. Why would you bring such a little girl here? Even if your own abilities are limited, you can’t just try to fool us like this!"
Qing Ran’s expression soured, but before he could speak, Su Nian cut in.
"What are you, a tadpole with a frog tattoo? Putting on a show for your mom?"
