Chapter 949: Flex Hands
Chapter 949: Flex Hands
Chapter 949
Screeeech—!
Flap—!
Grey rose out of his seat sharply, a fierce glare hardening his features.
Lightning arced violently around his fingers, hissing in the quiet room as he looked the Emperor directly in the eyes.
"In case you don’t know, great Emperor, I don’t give a fuck whether they are gods, immortal beings, or the rulers of this universe. I will take them all down no matter what." The electricity fizzled off into the air as he pointed a thumb at his own chest, his voice dropping to a low, dangerous register.
"I, Grey Dawn, will take down the Otherworlders no matter what!"
Julius looked at the young man’s raw determination with shock written plainly across his face.
Was it pure foolishness? Deep-seated hatred?
Or a level of resolve he had never witnessed before?
He struggled to comprehend what truly made up the foundation of this ambitious, perhaps reckless, mage.
Sigh—!
Julius shook his head slowly before coughing harshly into his handkerchief.
The white fabric was now a grim shade of crimson, saturated by the constant droplets of blood.
"You don’t understand. Look at me, Grey."
The Supreme Magus crossed his arms indifferently, a small frown lingering on his face.
"I was once the most powerful individual in this entire kingdom—a mage gifted with four affinities—yet look at what I have been reduced to.
Funnily enough, I didn’t even battle the upper zodiacs; I fought a mere group of lower zodiacs, and now, I’m left with a cracked mana core. I haven’t even stood before their leader yet. What makes you think you can do any better?"
Uncrossing his arms, Grey leaned over the table, edging forward until he was nearly in the Emperor’s personal space.
Amir remained silent, glancing between the Emperor and the Supreme Magus as the tension in the room reached a breaking point.
"I have five affinities while you have four. I have allies that won’t betray me, whereas you were surrounded by those who turned their backs on you.
Furthermore, I am the head of a major faction in another world with hundreds of powerful warriors and legendary races under my command. I am more than certain I will do better than you, dear Emperor."
Julius stared deep into Grey’s eyes, searching for a hint of a lie or bravado.
He paused, the gravity of Grey’s revelations finally beginning to settle in his mind.
"Wait, wait, wait! Did you just say you have five affinities and not four? Hang on! The head of a faction in another world?! Woah! You actually traveled to another realm? What exactly happened to you while you were away fo—"
The Emperor suddenly cut himself off.
His brows knitted deeply, and his playful curiosity vanished instantly.
Grey and Amir went on guard, wondering what could have caused the chatter to cease so abruptly.
"Speak," Julius uttered coldly, his voice echoing in the chamber.
Grey and Amir exchanged a quick, confused glance.
— Emperor Julius, I have been trying to reach you for a while. It seems you have been blocking my telepathic link.
"What is it? What is so critically important that you have to interrupt me now?"
— There’s an emergency! The Drakesville Kingdom has just launched an attack with over ten thousand men and three Generals. The Lunaria squad has already been dispatched, but I don’t think they can hold out much longer.
Julius’ face darkened as he turned to look at Grey and Amir.
The atmosphere shifted from a heavy discussion of the past to the cold reality of the present.
Sigh—!
"Come on. I think it’s time to teach these bastards a lesson. I need to flex my hands now."
Grey cocked a brow, his mana beginning to hum in anticipation.
"Huh? What’s going on?"

Back on the battlefield, a high-stakes three-versus-three match was currently unfolding, shifting the momentum of the entire engagement.
Booom—!
The three Generals kicked off from their steeds, launching themselves at the trio with devastating velocity.
Blue arcs of lightning began racing up and down Kael’s frame as he tracked the commanders rapidly closing the distance.
The thick, enormous chains belonging to the cracked-toothed General sped forward with brutal intent.
Sol clicked her fingers together, and glowing runes immediately manifested in the air, followed by a metallic swoosh—! as chains erupted from the portals she had summoned.
Her constructs weren’t as thick or massive as those of the General; they appeared like standard iron links.
However, with three runes active around her, three distinct chain links shot forward and collided with the General’s weaponry in a massive crash.
The atmosphere trembled from the sheer force of the collision.
Then, just as abruptly, Sol’s chains crumbled into useless bits and pieces.
’I knew it! I fucking knew it!’
Leaping to the side, she narrowly avoided the jagged tip of a chain that had almost slammed into her neck.
Vaulting into the air, another rune appeared before her, and a massive wind gale burst forth.
The blast smashed into the heavy chains, forcing them downward until they dug into the earth with destructive power.
A trench five meters deep gouged the terrain where the metal struck.
’Huh?’
Quickly glancing to the side, she noticed that the Generals had already split up to isolate their targets.
The bald commander was currently up against Kael, while the short General engaged Viktor.
That left her to contend with the cracked-toothed monster before her.
Her gaze snapped forward as the General exploded from his position, giving chase to Sol while she was still airborne.
His chains twirled around his silhouette like a ribbon before inter-crossing and hurtling toward the girl in a lethal web.
’Ah, damn it. I’m not prepared, for heaven’s sake!’
Despite her frantic thoughts, Sol remained focused.
She managed to weave through the thin gaps in the metal mesh with acrobatic grace.
Without hesitation, she began running along the surface of the moving chains, using them as a bridge until she was almost upon the General.
Out of nowhere, a third chain burst toward her with blazing speed.
Runes materialized instantly, swallowing the incoming link and diverting its momentum away from her, allowing her to finally reach the General.
She launched a powerful double kick aimed directly at the man’s chest.
However, a fourth chain erupted from his shadow, coiling in front of him like a shield and absorbing the entire impact of her strike.
From behind her, the three other chains doubled back, hurtling toward her blind spot.
Quickly kicking off the coiled metal, she launched herself higher into the air, dodging the counterattack by the sheer skin of her teeth.
Flipping several times to regain her balance, she landed on the scorched ground, three meters away from the General who was still hovering slightly.
Clenching her chest, she gritted her teeth, panting softly as she stared at the commander.
He slowly descended, his boots touching the dirt with an ominous thud.
"This will be fun," he rasped.
BOOOOM—!
He exploded forward once more, moving with a fluid, heavy grace that signaled the real fight had only just begun.
