Chapter 939

The moment they realized they held the advantage, the soldiers surrounding Greg surged forward with renewed determination.

Strings wrapped around the hands of several mages, while the earth cracked and snaked around Greg’s feet in an attempt to bind him.

Their relative speed wasn’t something he found particularly threatening; consequently, Greg merely smirked with a focused gaze.

He cast a rapid scan toward the sky, spotting Raze’s wind bird strategically positioned to maintain a full 360-degree view of the shifting battlefield.

Then—

Bang—!

Greg lunged forward with such rapid velocity that he appeared before his attackers within a single heartbeat.

A massive earth spike whistled toward his face with deadly speed.

Leaning his head to the side, he avoided the projectile, snatched it mid-air, and hurled it back at the sender.

Tchaaak—!

The momentum of the throw was immense, leaving the mage who had cast the spell no time to evade.

His own attack left a massive hole in the center of his head.

Leaping to the side, Greg avoided an earth disk that tore through the ground where he had stood just moments before.

Darting forward, he hammered his knee into the torso of a nearby soldier, sending the man’s body blasting away.

Spinning on his heels, lightning flowed from his elbows to the tips of his fingers.

From his digits, dozens of electrical strikes rushed out, electrocuting a dozen men heading his way.

Leaning his body backward just in time, a wind sword rushed past, grazing his nose—almost drawing blood in its wake.

Before he could regain his composure, an enormous boulder of earth hurtled down at him from above.

Kicking off the ground, Greg was forced to crash onto his backside to avoid the boulder by the skin of his teeth.

Booom—!

Spider-webbing cracks materialized beneath the weight of the stone.

Slamming his hands onto the earth beneath him, lightning crackled with sudden intensity.

Booom—!

The force of the discharge launched his body into the air for a moment, just as an earth spike shot out from the spot where he had been sitting.

Using that mid-air momentum, Greg spun around and released a dozen lightning arrows from his side.

They sped forth, stabbing into the heads, torsos, and eyes of the men before him.

Landing smoothly on the ground—

Wam—!

A massive earth club hammered into his face, throwing his head to the side with a spray of blood rushing from his mouth.

He staggered away for a moment, a hint of disorientation clouding his mind, which he quickly dispelled with a sharp shake of his head.

Looking up, his expression darkened. Even more men were charging at him with full speed.

In fact, looking at the sea of enemies, it didn’t even seem as if he had taken down a single foe over the past few minutes.

Double the number of the initial wave was heading his way now, the sheer volume of the army making his efforts feel insignificant.

’Ugh... this will be hard.’

A short distance away, Jay was practically drowning in his own wave of opponents.

His only saving grace was that the soldiers were unable to get too close; massive tentacles made of pressurized water were flailing in the air around him, lashing out at anybody foolish enough to approach.

Water bullets fired out at regular intervals, but even with this consistent barrage, the men weren’t dropping in significant numbers.

It seemed, impossibly, as if their ranks had even increased.

Swoosh—!

Leaping to the side, he managed to avoid a wind spear that drove into his previous position, causing deep cracks to form on the earth.

The moment his feet touched the ground, he felt a series of ominous vibrations.

Looking deep within the crowd of enemies, he spotted several mages with their palms pressed firmly against the soil.

’Give me some breathing space, for fuck’s sake!’

Water blades immediately manifested around his hands as he kicked off, charging headfirst into the throng.

His liquid tentacles continued flailing around his frame while the blades shimmered in his grip.

Seeing that their prey was coming to them, the hundreds of men surged forward.

’This—this—this....’

Leaning to the side, Jay avoided an earth sword that was aimed at cleaving his arm off.

Without hesitation, his water blade cut through the air; soon enough, the man’s head fell in a spray of red.

’... This will be bloody.’

Bang—!

He dashed forward with every bit of velocity he possessed, though by Greg and Kael’s standards, it wasn’t nearly enough.

Scarlet, on the other hand, was engaging with pure aggression.

No chill whatsoever.

"Dracko!" she howled into the air.

Responding to her call, a medium-sized dragon made entirely of living flames roared into existence.

Within moments, it was total chaos.

She crashed into the midst of her foes and began incinerating everything in her path.

Swinging her hand to the side, a funnel of fire burst out, reducing one of the attackers to cinders.

Embers blazed around her heels, allowing her to kick backward just in time as an ice spear shattered into harmless shards where she had stood a second before.

Dracko moved like a fierce avenger, immediately exhaling a steady stream of flames in the direction of the ice mage.

The man quickly summoned a thick wall of ice to shield himself, but when the dragon’s fire struck, dense mist began to sizzle into the atmosphere.

Swinging her hands downward, Scarlet unleashed a volley of flame arrows that rained down like stars in the night sky.

It was instant destruction and punishment. Dracko managed to shatter the ice wall, but the mage was nowhere to be seen.

Suddenly, a chill swept from Scarlet’s side.

She spun around to see the ice mage had repositioned; a massive ice spear was already rushing toward her head, ready to impale her.

But the mage had underestimated Scarlet’s instincts; she ducked with uncanny reflexes.

Flames licked her hand as she drove a fist directly into the gut of the ice mage.

There was a slight tremble, followed by a violent vibration that ran through the man’s frame as the punch connected.

His eyes widened for a moment, and he coughed, a spray of blood erupting from his mouth.

Then—

Booom—!

A low crash echoed in the air as the mage’s body was sent flying like a ragdoll, a massive, scorched hole left in his abdomen.
