Chapter 938: War has Begun (2)

Chapter 938

If seven against ten thousand was deemed foolish earlier, then what was unfolding now was total absurdity.

A single individual was charging head-first into an army of ten thousand.

As it appeared at the moment, he wasn’t merely using the lightning affinity to enhance his velocity; he had become the lightning itself.

Within a single second, he was already in the midst of the ranks with a huge bang.

One moment, the soldiers were charging forward; the next, they froze as screams of agony rippled through their formation.

Jagged streaks of electricity moved among them with lethal intent.

"What the hell?" the cracked-toothed General uttered, his expression darkening with apprehension.

Within a heartbeat, more than a dozen men had fallen before they could even realize what was happening.

"Concentrate on the lightning! Surely there are arch-mages among you!" the bald-headed General shouted at his troops.

Soon, a sense of coordination descended upon the men as they focused intently, trying to track Kael, but his sheer speed made it an impossible task.

Vaulting into the air for a fleeting moment, the soldiers caught sight of him.

Almost immediately, a dozen wind swords were fired at him with blazing speed.

Flipping like a rotating wheel, slashes of lightning burst from his blade, colliding with the wind swords and causing them all to detonate in the air with a massive boom.

Landing on the back of a horse that had already lost its rider in the first second of battle, Kael crouched down, grinning at the men as he surveyed them all.

He sat there, a lone figure in front of thousands, perched on a steed with a chilling smile on his face.

Metal swords instantly hurtled toward him with deadly, whistling velocity.

But the mage remained unfazed as he watched the scene with calm intensity.

Soon enough, shadows rippled around his feet, spreading across the horse’s back.

Within a second, the mage sank into the darkness, vanishing from sight just as the metal swords crashed into the horse, tearing through its frame.

With one final neigh, the beast crumpled to the ground with a thud that was drowned out by the roar of battle.

With his sudden disappearance, the army fell into total disarray.

If he could vanish that way, he could surely reappear in their midst at any moment.

"FIND HIM! He’s a major threat!" the cracked-toothed General bellowed at the men.

"Ouch. Then what about us?"

Turning around, a soldier found Scarlet standing before him.

She instantly buried her fist in his face, blasting his whole body into the midst of the other men.

Snap!

Her fingers clicked together, and the body erupted in a spray of flames and force, causing immediate destruction among the men nearby.

"You make it sound like we are weak."

Glancing upward, they saw a mage covered in arcing electricity, looking like a living arrow.

Greg crashed into the midst of the army, unfurling from the bright light as two bolts of lightning burst from his palms, smashing into the closest two mages before him.

Tchaaaaak!

Their eyes widened in horror and pain as the jagged bolts tore through their torsos.

With a swift spin, Greg landed a roundhouse kick, sending their bodies flying and pushing their comrades aside.

The sound of rapid fire echoed across the field.

Pellets of water shot out like bullets in a continuous stream.

Targeting their eyes, heads, or even noses, the water bullets flew with deadly speed and precision, felling men like they were mannequins. Jay stepped into view, his focus unwavering.

And from above, Raze rained down wind swords one after another, splitting the army and causing further disorientation.

Attacks from above, attacks from the front... they were being squeezed from every angle.

Luckily, nobody among the teens could do that.

Right?

So they thought.

Shadows immediately rippled beneath the feet of a dozen men; soon enough, they fell through with startled screams that caused the others to immediately leap away in terror.

As quickly as it appeared, the darkness vanished.

Instead, a shadow portal manifested a distance away, with those same dozen men toppling out and laying lifeless upon the parched earth.

Seeing the chaos below, a shaky smile rested on Raze’s face.

"Maybe, just maybe we can do this. Right, guys?"

He turned to Arthur and Vanica, who were staring below them with frightful expressions etched onto their faces.

Even with the big impact the mages below had made, they hadn’t eliminated even two hundred men out of the initial ten thousand.

It was like a mere drop in a massive, unforgiving ocean.

Flames raged around Scarlet’s hands and, without hesitation, she hauled them forward.

She sent massive fireballs whooshing toward the soldiers at full speed.

Initially, the men were confused, worried, and almost ready to retreat.

But when they recalled their overwhelming numbers, a sense of confidence crashed upon them like a tidal wave.

Snapping back to reality, earth walls surged upward from the ground.

They absorbed the impact from Scarlet’s flames, though cracks began to spread across the surfaces with every successive fireball she launched.

Pointing his hand in the direction of the barricade, a massive, dense sphere of water fired out with deadly velocity and shattered the wall like a mere pile of rocks.

Flames roared around her heels and elbows as Scarlet darted forward like a meteor.

She crashed into the midst of the men who had raised the earth wall to intercept her attacks just moments ago.

Greg was now also in the middle of hundreds of men, lightning fizzling around his body as he prepared to cause further chaos.

Or so he thought.

With the initial fright and the element of surprise having faded, the army was back on track.

They were more than ready to pay back the teenagers before them for everything they had done.
