Magus Supremacy

Chapter 933: Jaws of Death (1)

Chapter 933: Jaws of Death (1)

Chapter 933

Within mere moments, the Lunaria squad was on the move.

There was absolutely no time to waste as the official announcement of war reached their ears.

Kael had quickly summoned all the special ops mages of the academy to assemble immediately.

Some were not currently on the premises, but he had compelled them all to return after providing a rapid briefing on the dire situation.

In the meantime, he and Grey’s squad had already rushed toward the border where the enemy kingdom was reported to be approaching, desperate to intercept them before the crisis became irreparable.

Luckily—or perhaps unluckily—the invaders were marching toward the main capital with full force.

Hopefully, the squad would manage to reach the destination in time; otherwise, the entire situation would descend into chaos.

Before departing, Raze had successfully located a wind mage to mimic, allowing him to manifest a massive wind bird that served as a transport for the entire group.

They were now soaring forward at maximum velocity, the mage’s concentration peaking as he stabilized the construct.

"Speak," Kael ordered, his choker blinking continuously with an insistent glow.

"They are approximately an hour away from the main capital. Currently, they are traversing an empty plain that is as vast and desolate as a desert. It appears they chose this route because it is the quickest path to the heart of the kingdom," the voice replied through the choker.

Grey’s squad tensed up instantly.

There had been no opportunity to mobilize hundreds of soldiers for the interception; they simply had to pray that reinforcements would arrive with more manpower later.

Even though they were formidable, how could they possibly contend with ten thousand men, likely led by powerful commanders?

Yes, they had Kael with them, but even he would eventually reach his limits in a war of attrition.

If only Grey were with them at this very moment.

Speaking of which....

"Has the Captain been informed? And where is Grey?" Kael inquired as the wind whistled fiercely in his ears.

The wind bird continued flying with deadly momentum.

"The Captain and Grey left the base ten minutes ago. It seems they were summoned urgently or something of that nature."

"Summoned?" Scarlet muttered, a skeptical brow raised.

"Who summoned them?" Greg asked, shifting his gaze toward Kael.

Even without the disembodied voice providing an answer, Kael already suspected the truth, his brows furrowing in deep contemplation.

"I have a strong suspicion it is the Emperor."

The others lifted their eyebrows in total confusion. "Huh?"

Kael nodded with a weary sigh as the choker finally stopped pulsating.

"He is the only figure in this kingd... world with the authority to summon Grey and expect him to actually comply. That is why I arrived at this conclusion."

The others saw the logic in his words.

After all, the Supreme Magus was a force to be reckoned with.

Unless a situation directly benefited him, he wouldn’t depart for just anywhere.

He would much rather train or spend his time with them than attend a trivial meeting.

Recalling the Otherworlders’ invasion and how the Emperor had personally intervened, the teens shuddered.

They remembered how powerful he had to be to take down two Zodiacs single-handedly.

Aside from Kael and Amir, none of them had been able to go toe-to-toe with a Zodiac, regardless of whether they worked as a team or not.

Though Kael and Amir had been unable to finish their respective Zodiac opponents, the Emperor had prevailed.

However, that victory had come at a staggering cost; he sustained a severe internal injury that defied easy cures and had kept him bedridden for a month now.

What exactly had the Otherworlders done to such a legendary figure?

Nobody truly knew.

As he focused on controlling the construct, a fleeting thought crossed Raze’s mind, his eyes fixed intently on the horizon ahead.

’Between Grey and the Emperor, who would actually prevail in a duel? Is—is it possible that Grey could even be stronger than the Emperor?’

Shivering at the mental image of those two powerhouses standing on the battlefield together—whether as rivals or allies—Raze felt his skin crawl.

If those two ever decided to battle one another, forget the capital; the entire kingdom might crumble based on what Raze had witnessed so far.

Who would prevail between them both?

No one knew, and they were certainly not eager to find out yet.

It would be far better if they teamed up against the world rather than fought against each other.

But the question still remained: Why had Julius Chandler summoned the Supreme Magus?

"Over there! I can see something!" Vanica shouted, her voice laced with a tense, sharp tone as she pointed toward the far distance below.

From their current vantage point, they could see thousands of small figures moving across the terrain.

At this height, it was nearly impossible to make out individual faces or even their stature.

Squinting against the glare, Raze turned his gaze to the right; a kilometer away, the massive gates that served as the primary entrance to the capital were clearly visible.

Looking back to his left, the colossal army could be seen treading forward on their horses, their movements accompanied by distant, muffled shouts of war.

Witnessing the sheer volume of men occupying the otherwise empty and deserted field, Raze gulped loudly.

"Are—are we—are we really going to fight them all?"

"Speed up," Greg commanded, his gaze remains unnervingly calm.

Raze lifted a brow in disbelief.

"Speed up? Did you really just ask me to speed up? We are heading straight into the jaws of death and he is requesting more velocity? If you want to hurry toward your demise, then do so! Just don’t involve me in your suicide mission."

Jay facepalmed at the outburst.

"And I thought that with how much stronger you have become over the years, you would be more bold. But I guess not."

Raze clenched his jaws, refusing to engage the two arrogant nobles any further.

If they weren’t actually complete fools, they would realize the insanity of the situation.

How were seven mages supposed to hold off ten thousand men?

And yet, here they were, lecturing him about boldness?

Fools.

Now that they were drawing closer, Kael could finally see the details.

Three distinct figures were riding at the very front of the massive host.

The aura and sheer composure they exuded made Kael’s brows furrow in concern.

"Generals. Figures on par with the Emperor’s former subordinates."

Feeling the rush of displaced air and an intense glare from above, the three leaders lifted their heads to scan the sky.

Their eyes locked onto the wind bird and the seven figures standing calmly atop it.

Though the squad appeared composed, inwardly, they shook with trepidation.

A smile.

The three figures collectively smiled up at them, a chilling expression of predatory delight.
