Chapter 930: War?
Chapter 930
Grey and Amir had already departed for the Emperor’s abode following their brief verbal clash, leaving Jesse in the company of Elara, who promptly escorted her to the canteen to fulfill the promised meal.

Meanwhile, in an open field under the academy base’s jurisdiction, the land stretched for meters on end, resembling a desolate wasteland of some sorts.
On this barren expanse, a few individuals could be seen standing in opposition to another.
Greg, Scarlet, Raze, and Jay were positioned five meters in front of Kael.
Off to the side, Arthur and Vanica could be seen perched upon a jagged rock, watching the proceedings with focused intensity.
The four individuals in the center were drenched in sweat from head to toe, their breathing ragged, while Kael stared at them with a calm, unwavering composure.
His hands were clasped firmly behind his back as he observed the exhausted group.
The otherwise empty wasteland was littered with so many craters that one couldn’t possibly count them all—a direct consequence of what the group was desperately trying to achieve.
Raze, Jay, Scarlet, and Greg had been attempting to manifest a domain under Kael’s rigorous tutelage for the past week and a half.
They arrived at this field in the early hours of the morning and remained until late at night.
Every single day, they labored with grueling effort.
They sparred with Kael frequently to get a better feel for how to sync as a unified team; that served merely as their warm-up.
Then, they would transition into the mental and spiritual strain of trying to manifest a domain, only to end the day with yet another intense spar.
Day after day. Time after time.
They kept the momentum going.
Though they were unable to truly defeat Kael, they had managed to land several impressive hits on him throughout their training.
However, pertaining to their domains, they had been unable to truly and fully manifest a single one.
Either the field came out incomplete and eventually dispelled, or it simply refused to appear at all.
Arthur and Vanica sat everything out, observing from the sidelines.
They knew the truth, even if nobody spoke it aloud.
They felt they were too weak to even contemplate manifesting a domain of their own.
They had hit their limits, and they were painfully aware of it.
For the past two years, they had pushed themselves to the absolute brink in hopes of catching up with the monsters of their generation.
Once weak, they had managed to cultivate their affinities to a solid, respectable position.
Though not primarily used for offense, their unique affinities were still quite formidable in their own right.
Hence, they always accompanied the others to the field to witness the attempts at manifesting a domain.
Hopefully, they would see something revolutionary, but each time, it resulted in the same frustrating outcome.
Kael had already taught them the fundamental basics.
In fact, they had already successfully marked their territorial limits and charged their specific elements into the designated area.
Yet, they were always stuck at the pivotal stage where they had to dictate a law.
It consistently backfired on them massively, as if the world itself were actively rejecting the laws they attempted to impose upon it.
Each time, each day, the same cycle repeated again and again.
And today was no different; the group could be seen panting heavily with their hands braced against their knees.
"Haaa.... haaaa... I never realized this exercise was this difficult. Haaa...." Raze panted, struggling to force the words out through his exhaustion.
"... How did Grey even manage to manifest a domain in less than a day, whereas we are struggling for a week and a half now?" he asked with a tired sigh, clutching his chest in pain.
Jay cast a quick look at the boy’s way while also panting heavily from exhaustion.
"You shouldn’t compare yourself to Grey every single time unless you want a heavily disappointing result. We have all ascertained that he is a great monster nobody can touch. So why do you want to reach him? None of us can."
Scarlet frowned at the mage’s words, her jaw tightening.
’I have to reach him. I have to grow stronger; only then will I be worthy of standing side by side with him. Only then will I be worthy of being by his side. I need to...’
"—If it makes you all feel alright," Kael interrupted their conversation while wiping the gathering sweat away from his face.
"It is said that even the Emperor took about a month before he could manifest a domain. And he is even hailed as a genius among his generation, so don’t beat yourselves up."
Raze blinked for a second before rising to his full height, his eyes wide.
"If it makes us feel alright? Hell, it doesn’t! His record is one month and he was hailed as a genius? What should Grey now be called after his own feat?!"
Kael provided no answer, merely shrugging indifferently.
Then, tugging at his collar, a faint glow emanated from around his neck, causing him to pause.
It was an object resembling a thick bracelet—a choker of some sort designed for the neck.
It was pulsating.
"Speak," Kael commanded, causing the others to immediately straighten up at the sudden, serious shift in his expression.
Even Arthur and Vanica rose to their feet instantly.
They knew exactly what that was.
It was a "Choker."
Instead of relying on telepathic magic, which wasn’t as common, the Lunaria squad had managed to acquire these Chokers from the Clover Kingdom before it was totally wiped out.
Because they possessed them in such small numbers, not everyone in the squad had access to one.
To exchange contact, it required only a single drop of blood from the recipient.
The sound of someone clearing their throat could be heard as the choker pulsated in sync with every breath from the other side.
"Bad news, Kael. A massive army from the Drakesville Kingdom has been spotted marching toward our territory."
"Massive army? How many men?" Kael asked, a deep frown carving lines into his face.
There was a slight, tense pause from the other end before the person finally replied.
"Te-te-ten thousand men. It’s—it’s—it’s war, Kael. They are coming to wage war!"
