Chapter 906: Reunion (1)

Chapter 906

Everybody stood stunned for a lingering second at the massive display of strength the Otherworlder had just exerted upon Greg.

The sheer velocity and raw power were things that shouldn’t have been humanly possible.

However, the masked figure was a specialized Otherworlder, so what else could they have truly expected?

Casting a quick glance at one another, the remaining squad members clenched their jaws in mounting fury.

"How dare you do that to Greg?! Bastard! You lot took Grey and Vince away from us, and now you want to take Greg too?!" Jay screamed, his voice thick with intense anger.

All around him, the atmosphere shimmered as the droplets of water suspended in the air suddenly reshaped themselves into lethal spikes of liquid.

With loud, piercing whistles, the water projectiles launched toward the Otherworlder with blazing speed.

The masked man turned his head in the direction of these strikes and, with uncanny agility, began weaving between the attacks, inching steadily toward the mage responsible for the onslaught.

"Dracko!" Scarlet bellowed.

Instantly, her flame dragon rushed forward, unleashing a massive funnel of fire that whooshed toward the Otherworlder with literal blazing speed.

The masked man stared at the incoming inferno with narrowed eyes as Ki swords shimmered into his grasp.

He intended to cut through the heat.

Before he had the chance to act, Raze launched forward with lightning-fast momentum and swiftly hauled his leg in the masked man’s direction.

Pivoting sharply on his heel, the Otherworlder avoided the foot that crashed through the empty air.

Then, with a loud crack of displaced oxygen, the masked man’s leg sliced back toward the mage, who hurriedly leaped away, narrowly evading the counter-strike.

Glancing up, he saw the funnel of flames was finally upon him, crashing into his frame with full force.

However, the fire refused to turn him to ash or even singe his skin.

He sliced through the heart of the conflagration with immense speed, appearing directly in front of Scarlet faster than she could possibly react.

Before he could initiate an attack, he shifted his gaze to the right and swiftly leaned his body backward, narrowly dodging a massive water spear that had been launched his way.

Quickly regaining her composure, flames burst around the girl’s elbows as a fire-boosted punch hurtled toward the Otherworlder’s leaned torso.

Before the blow could connect, the masked man quickly sprang upright, facing the punch that hammered into his chest with a devastating, resonant crack.

However, he didn’t even move an inch, absorbing the impact all too easily.

Scarlet stared with wide eyes as her strike seemed to not even faze the Otherworlder one bit.

Bang!

The masked man spun around to see a jagged blue lightning bolt flying his way with startling velocity.

With a calm gaze, he looked in the direction from which the attack originated.

It was Greg, who was back on his feet and seemingly restored by Vanica’s healing light.

Without hesitation, the figure lunged forward to meet the bolt head-on.

At the moment of impact, he pivoted to the side, letting the discharge slide past.

Before it could travel too far, he snatched the bolt from the air with raw power as Ki flooded his entire hands.

Twirling around for a moment to build momentum, the Otherworlder hurled the massive bolt back in Greg’s direction with a sound-breaking barrier fling.

CRACK!

The bolt flew significantly faster than when Greg had originally launched it.

The young mage’s eyes widened in horror before he snapped his eyelids shut, bracing for certain death.

Until—

BOOOOM!

The bolt slammed into the ground where he stood.

The area detonated with a massive shockwave that flung Greg through several buildings.

"Hm... seems my throw was off by a little margin," the Otherworlder commented casually, adjusting his stance.

Kael’s brows knitted in deep concentration.

’Off? No. With how precise and fluid he has been while fending them off, this isn’t a simple miscalculation. So why didn’t he send the bolt directly into Greg?’

Vaulting into the air sharply, the Otherworlder avoided a massive waterfall that was about to bash into his head.

The liquid torrent shattered the ground where he had stood only a moment ago, striking with a massive, resonant impact.

Raze launched forward, darting into the sky like a missile of pure destruction.

Flames wrapped around his palms, boosting his velocity to tremendous heights and allowing him to sustain his flight through raw elemental propulsion.

In a flash, he was before the Otherworlder and wasted no time in launching a fireball that rushed forward with overwhelming speed.

However, with a single, effortless step, the masked man vanished from the side, causing the fireball to detonate harmlessly in the air with a loud boom.

Spinning around in time, Raze’s face was met with a bone-shattering kick that launched him out of the sky.

He landed in a massive crater that kicked up a dense cloud of dust.

Kael frowned, his suspicions growing.

’That should have been a killing blow. He had the perfect opportunity. Why didn’t he take it?’

"Cough.... Cough..." Raze could be heard hacking as he staggered out of the crater a moment later with blood trickling down his chin.

Despite the injury, his eyes burned with a fiery, manic glee.

Taking another step, the figure vanished from view and this time, reappeared directly beside Raze.

"You can control two affinities, yet you are still weak. That’s because you don’t know how to use them interchangeably. You hesitate and fear far too much."

Whack—!

Before Raze could spin around to retaliate, a palm strike from the Otherworlder sent his body flying like a ragdoll, precisely knocking Jay off his footing as Raze’s body slammed into him.

"Huh?"

BANG!

Greg appeared before the masked Otherworlder with the speed of light, catching the man genuinely off guard for the first time.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

Rapid, consecutive punches slammed into the man’s face, cracking the mask significantly further than before.

The Otherworlder was being pushed back by the sheer ferocity of the lightning mage’s desperate assault.

But it didn’t last long.

A massive ki sword screamed toward Greg from above, but with crackling speed, he dashed to the side, causing the attack to cleave deep into the earth and kick up a fresh cloud of dust.

Then, the Otherworlder lifted his forearm just in time.

A fiery punch from Scarlet hammered into his guard with full force, lifting him off his feet and nearly hurling him away.

He slammed his palm into the ground to arrest his flight, while the mask looked like it was finally on the verge of losing its integrity.

Scarlet didn’t let up.

She boosted her speed to immense heights, looking like a human rocket.

She closed the distance in a flash, flames wrapping around her hand with a deadly light.

She swung toward the masked figure until—

Crack! Crack! Shatter!

The mask finally lost its durability and turned into a dozen wooden fragments that fell from the Otherworlder’s face.

Scarlet faltered instantly, the flames around her arm flickering out like a dying candle in the wind.

She came to a skidding halt a metre away from the figure.

His crimson hair was now let loose, flowing in the heated breeze, but that wasn’t what had stolen her breath.

It was the face.

Soon enough, her eyes lit up in shocked recognition.

"G-G-GREY?!" she mouthed in total disbelief.

A familiar smile played on his lips, and then:

"Hello, my prickly queen," the figure replied.
