Chapter 902: Fight Together?

Chapter 902: Fight Together?

Chapter 902

Slowly, the water dragon disappeared from view, leaving behind a lingering cloud of dust where it had smashed the Otherworlder.

The others quickly shifted into combat stances, knowing instinctively that such an attack wouldn’t be enough to permanently fell the man.

But it should injure him heavily, right? Right?

After all, Jay was a proficient four-star mage.

The strike should have done something debilitating to the masked figure.

Wooosh!

The thick haze was immediately blown away, revealing the individual brushing dirt from his crimson robe with an undoubtedly irritated demeanor.

"Oh jeez... you guys are so weak and dirty. You just want to ruin a finely crafted vintage robe? What a nuisance," the man uttered with clear annoyance.

He continued grooming his attire, seemingly ignoring the presence of the elite squad entirely.

Kael observed the scene with a narrowed, calculating gaze.

"Oh? You want to talk trash?" Raze asked, his glare sharpening to a lethal edge.

The masked figure lifted his head to stare in his direction, silent and expectant.

"... So listen. What do they call a chicken in hell?"

The Otherworlder lifted a brow at the absurd question.

Was it a joke? Trash talk? Or simply the ramblings of a desperate boy?

"A roasted Otherworlder!" Raze completed his thought as, all around him, flames crackled with sudden intensity.

"Eh? Weren’t you using lightning magic just now?" the Otherworlder uttered, sounding genuinely confused by the shift in power.

The fire crackled with the same fierce intensity as Scarlet’s, and soon enough, a hundred fireballs roared out, blasting towards the figure with blazing speed.

"Sigh... you kids just love to play with fire."

The Otherworlder prepared to lunge forward and cleave through the projectiles as he had done previously.

Before he had the chance to move, however, Greg materialized before him like a bat out of hell.

His velocity was far too great for a normal human to display.

In his hands, a pair of lightning swords appeared, which he immediately slashed forward with his entire force.

The blades whistled through the air toward the Otherworlder even as the fireballs closed the distance.

Without any hesitation, the Otherworlder swung his hand forward; a ki longsword swiftly materialized in his grasp, which he effortlessly used to deflect one of the lightning swords.

Then, leaning his body at a strange, contorted angle, he avoided the second blade.

Slamming his foot on the ground, Greg relinquished his swords and immediately vaulted into the air above the Otherworlder, timing his jump perfectly for the fireballs to crash into the target’s position.

BOOOOM!

A massive explosion clobbered the figure with burning intensity.

Clicking his tongue, Greg launched a hundred lightning arrows into the inferno, hoping to finish the man off before he had a chance to recover from the fire.

Vaulting backward, he landed a few metres away while explosions continued ringing out across the area until,

"Ah... that’s all?" the Otherworlder asked.

His foot could be seen peering out of the smoke, followed quickly by the other.

Finally, his entire form walked out of the haze, unhurt except for his slightly singed robe.

Even his mask was seemingly untouched as he stepped forward indifferently.

"Er... remind me what Zodiac we are fighting? What rank is he?" Arthur asked, gulping loudly as his confidence wavered.

Though it had been a long time since they had fought as a unit, Arthur hadn’t forgotten the sheer destructive force Raze and Greg could exert.

With his Copy magic having grown stronger—allowing Raze to now mimic two different affinities compared to his previous limit of one—he was more formidable than ever, putting him on par with elite dual-elementalists.

However, this figure was seemingly tanking their most powerful hits as if they were nothing more than a mild breeze.

"Guys," Kael finally spoke out after observing the exchange for a while longer.

Nobody looked his way, as if they didn’t even acknowledge his presence.

All eyes remained fixated on the Otherworlder, who obviously didn’t even bother moving an inch from where he stood.

But from experience, Kael knew they were listening, so he continued:

"Fighting separately won’t cut it. You all need to be in sync. Fight as one and not individually. That’s the only way to win."

Scarlet tilted her head to glare in his direction, her temper clearly fraying.

"Who made you the leader here?"

"In case you forgot, I’m your senior," Kael retorted, his amethyst eye almost glowing with a dangerous light.

"And in case you forgot, it’s been many months since we last fought as one. We all took different paths and refuse to fight as a team, so go back to your observational role or join in the fray if you want to!" Scarlet clapped back angrily.

...

The world was silent for a moment as all eyes were mostly on Kael and Scarlet’s exchange, while the Otherworlder watched the proceedings.

Not even moving an inch at the whole drama unfolding before him, he seemed almost genuinely interested in the internal friction.

"Er guys, here is not the place," Raze butted in, trying to bridge the gap.

"And certainly not the time," Greg added with a deep, weary frown.

"Bu-But Kael is right still," Vanica chimed in with a shaky look as she stared between them all.

The Otherworlder tilted his head to stare at the beautiful Vanica for a moment; then, a sinister smile flashed across his face, hidden behind the crimson mask.

"Oh really?" he uttered with a soft, chilling tone, snapping all attention back in his direction.

Before anybody could blink, he appeared before the girl with speed far surpassing anything the others had ever witnessed before.

A ki sword was already gleaming dangerously in his hand.

’When did he create that?’ Vanica wondered inwardly with wide, terrified eyes.

"You really think if you all join together you can defeat me? Tsk. I want to see you try!"

He hauled the sword towards the girl’s head with blazing speed.

"DON’T YOU DARE!"

Jay, Scarlet, Greg, and Raze bellowed in unison.

The air crackled once, followed by a thunderous expression of power that seemed great enough to shake the very foundations of the earth.

Flames wrapped around Raze, lightning coiled around Greg, and torrential water flowed through Jay’s hands.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

All three of them shot forward like elemental streaks of nature and then crashed beside the Otherworlder in the blink of an eye.

A shimmering spherical barrier manifested all around Vanica just in time.

In perfect unison, the trio swung their hands forward, unleashing their respective affinities towards the masked man.

All of this occurred in a single second—so fast that even the Otherworlder was genuinely taken aback while staring at the water, lightning, and flames streaking towards him with such blinding velocity.

’Huh?’
