Chapter 196: Faerie Realm Date!
Chapter 196: Faerie Realm Date!
The duo quickly left the palace terraces and headed out into the expanse of the Faerie Realm, feeling the soft currents of mana brushing gently against their skin like a quiet greeting, welcoming them deeper.
The glowing pathways ahead shimmered faintly, the lights perfectly illuminating the pathway forward, and Sabrina noticed this feature immediately.
"...They like you," she said, glancing sideways at Jax, who just shrugged and smirked faintly.
"Or they’re curious, you never know for sure," The Demon King muttered.
"Same difference here." She said with a follow-up shrug, stepping forward onto the living path. Her heels making no sound against the softly glowing surface.
Jax followed beside her, hands resting casually in his pockets as his golden eyes drifted across the endless beauty around them.
For a while, they simply walked, gazing at all of the towering trees that stretched endlessly upward, their luminous veins pulsing gently like the heartbeat of the realm itself.
Floating motes of light drifted lazily through the air, brushing against Sabrina’s hair and dissolving into tiny sparks.
She reached out once, letting a small cluster of glowing particles settle against her palm.
"They respond to emotion, this is some incredibly advanced magic, no wonder they’ve been able to stay neutral all this time," she said softly, watching them flicker with a smile on her face.
Jax glanced at her hand, and nodded, "They do."
They continued walking and the path eventually opened into a wide garden terrace carved into the side of a floating island.
Crystal-clear streams ran through patches of glowing flowers, and elegant wooden tables had been arranged beneath arching branches woven together like natural canopies.
A small group of faerie attendants stood nearby, already prepared. Sabrina raised an eyebrow as she saw them, turning to Jax and asking, "Did you plan this?"
Jax shook his head, "No."
One of the attendants stepped forward, bowing in a respectful manner before speaking, "Guests of the Queen are always provided for. This is the least we could do,"
Sabrina smirked,"Well... I’m not complaining."
They took their seats. The table was already set with an array of dishes unlike anything found in Terra’s other kingdoms.
Fruits that shimmered like gemstones, warm bread infused with faint golden light, delicate pastries layered with glowing nectar and even crystal goblets filled with a soft, iridescent liquid that shifted colors depending on the angle.
Sabrina leaned forward slightly, studying the spread, "...I might actually forgive you now."
Jax smirked, "Already? I thought it’d take until tonight for that to happen,"
"Don’t get ahead of yourself." Sabrina said with a chuckle, picking up one of the glowing fruits, examining it briefly before taking a bite.
Her eyes widened slightly, "...Okay."
She swallowed, "Tastes better than any fruit we have back home,"
Jax chuckled and took a bite of his own. Even for him, the flavor was exceptional. It had a perfectly natural taste that left Jax wanting more.
The bread also had a perfect temperature and was soft, allowing them to chew into it easily and savor the delicious taste, and the same could be said with the drink.
After they finished, the attendants cleared the table silently, leaving them alone once more beneath the glowing canopy.
Sabrina stood, stretching slightly.
"So... what’s next?"
Jax didn’t answer immediately.
Instead, he reached out and took her hand.
Sabrina blinked. Then looked down at their joined hands.
"...Oh?"
Jax smirked faintly.
"You wanted a proper day, didn’t you?"
Her expression softened instantly, "...I did."
He gave her hand a light pull.
"Come on."
And so they walked again, allowing the Faerie Realm to unfold around them in endless beauty.
They crossed a bridge made of living vines that swayed gently over a glowing river. They wandered through orchards where fruit grew in clusters of light. They passed fields where elemental creatures played among the flowers.
At one point, Sabrina stopped suddenly.
Jax turned slightly.
"What?"
She didn’t answer.
Instead, she stepped closer. Then wrapped her arms around him. Just like that without any warning or teasing.
Jax blinked once. Then relaxed, his arms settling naturally around her waist as he pulled her closer, staring into her beautiful eyes.
"...What was that for?" he asked.
Sabrina pressed her cheek lightly against his chest, hearing his calm, soothing heartbeat as she responded, "...Nothing. Just felt like it."
Jax smiled faintly. His hand moved gently along her back, holding her a little closer. They stayed like that for a moment, enjoying the warmth in each-other’s presence.
Then Sabrina pulled back slightly. Just enough to look up at him, and kissed him, their lips connecting in a soft, slow but sensual kiss.
The duo remained kissing for over a minute, indulging in their intense desire for each-other before pulling away.
When they separated, Sabrina exhaled softly, her lips curving into a small smile.
"...Better."
Jax chuckled.
"Glad to hear it."
They continued walking, but now, the space between them was gone, their hands intertwined with the occasional brushes of shoulders.
Small touches that lingered just a little longer than necessary.
At another clearing, they stopped again, this time overlooking a vast valley where floating islands drifted like stars fallen into the sky.
Sabrina leaned against the railing, her wings faintly visible behind her now, catching the ambient light.
"...It’s beautiful," she said softly.
Jax stepped beside her.
"It is."
She glanced at him.
"...But?"
Jax smirked slightly.
"You’re waiting for a ’but’?"
"I know you."
He chuckled.
"No ’but.’"
Sabrina raised an eyebrow.
"Really?"
Jax nodded.
Then, after a brief pause, added, "I’d just make it better."
She laughed softly.
"Of course you would."
There was a quiet moment.
Then Sabrina spoke again, her tone softer now.
"...You meant what you said earlier, didn’t you?"
Jax glanced at her.
"About what?"
She hesitated for just a second.
Then met his eyes.
"...About loving us."
Jax didn’t hesitate.
"Yeah."
Sabrina searched his expression.
"For all of us?"
Jax nodded.
"All of you."
Her gaze softened.
"...Even with everything you’re doing? Everything you’re becoming?"
Jax stepped closer.
His hand lifted, brushing lightly against her cheek.
"None of that changes it."
Sabrina’s breath hitched slightly.
"Not power."
"Not responsibility."
"Not what I become."
His voice remained calm.
Steady.
"You matter."
A pause.
"All of you do."
Sabrina stared at him.
Then smiled.
Not playful.
Not teasing.
Just... real.
"...Good."
She leaned forward again, kissing him softly.
This time lingering just a little longer.
When she pulled back, her usual smirk returned—but softer now.
"...Because I wasn’t planning on letting you forget that anyway."
Jax chuckled.
"I wouldn’t."
She bumped her shoulder lightly against his.
"Good."
After that, the dup headed back to the palace, wanting some alone time before Jax had to head and officially make the deal with Elyndra.
